Tom, I wish that what I feel or want to say could be more meaningful to you than just words on the screen, since text is so disconnected and impersonal. But we don't know each other, and alas, kind words from a stranger only have so much meaning. I want you to know that there is sadness in my heart for you, and I mourn your loss. -
Oh... man. That was awesome. I haven't logged in in about a month now. I knew I had missed a lot, but hosting a party... Well, I live right on top of "Oaksterdam University" in Oakland, CA, so believe me, it would have been a good party!

lol. They got well-rounded educations and subscribed to existentialism, got depressed, and decided not to bring any more tortured and confused souls into the world.

That's great Patricius. I love your trees.

I think it looks great, weasel. I only wanted to comment that your description of it describes pretty much half the power plants in existence. A little technical background on how it works would be cool. Sure it heats up the water to turn turbines, but so does a nuclear power plant, a coal plant, and an oil plant. What are we burning here? Wood? O_o ?? Sci-fi Post-apocalyptic steampunk tech? No effect on how functional it is, it's just a thought. The lot itself is great.

How do you plan your cities
GuyverScythe replied to briantwigley's topic in SimCity 4 General Discussion
I've had good experience with my cities by first plotting out basic road and rail that converges at a CBD of a few blocks. I'll place a few more blocks nearby it to fill with what should eventually be high density residential, and fill in the commercial zone as demand goes up for it. Then I build a few more core neighborhoods linked to the infrastructure, and build out over the map from there. That's worked great in easy-mode. I decided to build in hard mode on my new region, and well... things are progressing slowly. If you're after making your city more realistic, you should try building in hard mode. Not only are you forced to scrutinize the budget a lot more, but advancements must be made wisely, lest you go broke. You should also DEFINITELY get some plugins from the STEX! A lot of it really makes leaps forward in making the city more realistic. FatherBenjamin: A portion of the NAM plugin, that enhances your transit systems, can provide that your Sims are smarter about pathfinding. I installed it, and although I don't have highways yet in my region, I have much fewer traffic problems. Sims tend to take Roads and Avenues when nearby instead of simply finding the shortest route via neighborhood streets. If I remember correctly, it should also enhance the way that your sims use the highways, but I don't remember correctly. It's in the STEX, and links to it are everywhere. Check it out. -
SimFox, spacibo bolshoe! This is great. I have been very interested in Russia for a few reasons. One, looking back at my education, there's a wide, gaping hole where Russian history should be. It's probably the same for most people in their twenties. My guess is that since Russia wasn't as significant anymore in the 90's in terms of power and money, they skipped it in the history books. It's all about the money. My second reason is because of my Russian girlfriend. Her parents in Russia want us to visit, and when I'm done with school I might. They live in Vladivostok, however, which is half a world away. Nonetheless, of course I considered a prolonged stay where I could skip across the globe and visit Moscow and St. Petersburg, and anywhere else we would like. These images of Moscow you've given us are amazing. I never imagined highways that wide crowded so extensively, or that so many humongous building projects were underway. The modernization here is staggering. By the way, I by no means profess to be an expert of the Russian Language. I can find my way around the kitchen and greet people. I can read cyrillic but I always seem to pronounce it wrong. Anyway, thank you so much!
