Clarification on installation would be good. Readme says this contains both Left and Right hand vehicles but to only install one or the other but then goes on to say unzip all files into the plugins folder. So which are the left and which are the right hand drive busses? Other than that, I love the look of the busses, other than the slant nose looks a wee bit too odd for my overall enjoyment.

Thanks for sharing. Is that what the mini malls look like where you all live? Really? The shape is certainly there but around here most store fronts have larger than house sized windows out front, even places that are non retail like places that do your taxes have huge front of the building glass windows. Never mind, not important, still very nice looking so my thanks and hat goes off to ya.

Anybody else have any pics of their Amusement Park? I've tried to place one on several maps thus far and it's always abysmal looking which is obviously no fault of the batter as they look excellentl It's mostly my placement of the buildings just doesn't look right plus the ground cover etc. So if anybody else has photos to share of their amusement parks that would be great to see.

Has the positive vibe left SimCity?
City Planner replied to JoshuaH's topic in SimCity 4 General Discussion
I agree so far as to say that yes, many of the more modern city building game releases do feel stale and boring to me. They feel as if they have been homogonized, pasturized and purified. I really didn't care much for Societies, as it was rather boring to me, but I know many that enjoy it tremendously. Of the people that I've talked to about SC4 compared to so many other CB genre'd games there seems to be 3 camps. 1. Those who hated SC4 because of little things like the water pipes or having to draw out the power poles and thus won't play it. 2. Those that still love SC4 to this day. For me it says volumes for a game that is over 4 or 5 years old and it can still hold my interest today as it did when it was first released. Granted had I been playing it fulltime since release I may not be quite as interested in it but I do have a tendancy to become bored rather easily. But for the moment, in my opinion it's still the best CB game to have come out since it was first released. And finally... 3. Those that loved the gameplay of SC4 but with todays games being all flashy, they can no longer stand playing a pixelated game. I think it took me some getting use to again as the first time I fired up SC4 in a couple years I almost immediately uninstalled it once I saw the closest zoom level with the horribly pixelated graphics but I persevered to where I find the game a great deal of fun seeing what I can create and am now able to overlook the lack of flashy graphics for the sheer number of options of city creation in SC4. I've not found another City Building game that allows me to create anywhere close to the amount of diverse cities as I can do in SC4. And the models that can and are created for SC4 are sometimes absolutely mind boggling on their complexity and details, unlike almost all if not all other CB games that I've played in 3D with dull box style models with a texture slapped on it to try to resemble something actually having depth and detail. In my opinion it's still not there. I really don't see anything coming out in the next several years that can rival SC4 and Im not a fan boi by anymeans of SC4 or any other game but more of a realist. I think it's going to take such huge computing power to try to create a modern 3D CB game that can rival the size, and feature set of SC4 that we're still a couple years off from seeing those types of computers. Until that day, as SimHoTToDDy said: LONG LIVE SC4!!! -

I believe that TM is blinded by their fans. They do have a group of loyalists that are completely devoted to TM and nothing that TM does is bad. I've seen them, I've interacted with them. I've seen fans say such things as "I don't care what TM creates next, I'll buy it". And so it is in my opinion that TM can't learn anything about their mistakes in this game until they actually break free from their loyalists and really listen to the majority of simcity gamers. There is nothing they can do through expansions to make SCS have the features of SC4, the game engine which has been used already doesn't have the ability for what SC5 would actually need. It's a good ploppable game engine but one that is a complete fat pig of a resource hog. I don't think anybody should be suprised if they announce one more expansion after this one, after that, I predict that the sales won't be there to allow them to pursue the SCS game any further and as far as Im concerned, Good riddance to bad rubbish. Sorry for those that enjoy it, I don't. But I don't wish to try to disuade anybody from enjoying it if they like it, then great, for me SCS is like playing checkers when you could be playing chess with a grand master. It is the dumbed down version of a ploppable city building game that is feature poor and the expansion is from the limited information now given more of a stuff pack then a true expansion pack. It was relatively easy for TM to take their existing game engine and create SCS, but it has serious limitations as far as trying to be a city simulator and until they use a new one, or rewrite their own, we'll not see a serious city simulator out of the TM offices anytime soon. I don't really care that EA is milking the public with a "city pack" (ha, what rubbish) if people feel it's worth their money, then hey, go buy it. It is the reason that we don't have a BAT tool for SCS because it's about all they can do at TM for an expansion, is to give more buildings, if they had released a BAT tool, people wouldn't buy the city packs. They are holding back on the public and after spending $49.99 on the game when it was first released I feel completely ripped off by both TM and EA for not giving us the tools to really mod the game so that we can add new buildings to it. No, you might have guessed it, I won't be giving them more money for this city pack since in my opinion with the information released it's utter and complete garbage and they still wont be releasing a BAT tool with update 3 nor with the city pack as they have said on their own forums. Originally posted by: Bluebeard Somebody must be buying Societies why else would EA make a expansion pack.quote> Because EA has already signed the contracts with TM to do so? Or perhaps because they paid so little to TM that they don't need to sell nearly as many units of SCS to make a profit. That would be my guess as I don't think people were exactly knocking down TM's door to get them to come do a game for them. Caesar IV didn't last at full retail price all that long either and it's now down to $19.99 and has been for a long time now. I also think that the folks who are buying SCS are the same folks that we read about that say that SC4 is too difficult for them to play and they can't figure out this or that or the other thing, so they wanted a watered down simcity game and they got one. It is however to their liking since they didn't enjoy SC4's need to be somewhat conscious while playing the game. TM did a wonderful bang up job with Children of the Nile, they added some interesting and reportedly inovating ideas to it. However once they hit the Caesar IV trail they havn't really added anything innovating or special (in my opinion) to either C4 or SCS. It's almost like they got stuffed f

SC4 Stalls out on me every so often. In a 5 minute time period the game will just stall out and freeze briefly, anywhere from a few seconds to maybe 10 seconds. I know that the game doesn't like dualcore CPU's so I set the affinity to the primary CPU 0 so that it doesn't crash, or run the vehicles on the streets all herky jerky, but yet the game still stalls or freezes and it's not like there is anything that Im doing that is a common situation that might be causing it. It may happen just when im sitting there looking at the city, or it might happen when I click on a button, or it might happen when Ive just drawn out a zone but havn't released the mouse button. You see there is no pattern to when it happens. Im hopign with the large group of fans of this game someone knows what might be causing this and can instruct me to make it stop. It's getting quite annoying lately. My comPUTER: AMD 64X2 4600+ 2GB RAM Dual Nvidia 8800 (320MB video memory on each card) Windows XP Pro SP2. Nvidia and sound drivers are the latest versions. Thanks,
