6 pointstariely Thank the post-apocalyptic world for that scene idea Hopefully this update'll quench your curiosity! michael95l Ain't it just awesome? ____________________________________________________________ So here's the full update! Got lazy, so no usual mosaics this time Anedau. A mesmerizing city, full of hope, dreams and the progression of humanity. Despite the cataclysmic demise of global civlization, pockets of human existence remain on the planet. But the uncertainty of their fates reserve their existences to mere legends and myths, from a world long gone. This city may be all that remains of the glory of human intellect and technological achievement. Reminders everywhere of what the world and civilization had been reduced to. Some might even say that Anedau's golden-age may all be but a facade in a looming disaster out in the cold reaches of time. But regardless, the city remains a shining symbol of eminent peace and beauty. A wonderous synthesis of history and modern technology. Remnants of the gleaming image the 21st century world provided. It is even fortunate that those who founded this last bastion, could even afford and have the ability to rise a dormant ruin from the ground. May be there is hope. Real hope. May be the so called "lie" isn't a lie at all. But the truth remains. As the night falls, the activity dies down. The lights begin to pollute the skies. All that remains of the lights that once bore through darkness of the planet. But what we do know is, this is the Last City; and we must defend it to the utmost, regardless of circumstance. And that's it! Visit again when Random & Random has more random for you!

3 pointsWell, With the new Tourism Zoning coming out, I think that would be a better fit. Would be a good too seeing that the zone will be lacking custom mods. Here's a quick update, Ive added some hvac systems which im still working on for the ducts and stuff. Added fencing around roof, lobby windows and patio as well as some details on the front the building.
-
3 pointsThere are no bus routes as such. Bus stations are merely a way to turn pedestrian traffic into bus traffic. Or in other words, game dun care what you do as long as there's another bus station where the jobs are, so traffic can be converted back into pedestrian traffic. Each residential wealth group has a preference. Low wealth sims will primarily use alternative transit when given a choice, while rich sims will cling to their cars desperately. Are you using the NAM? If not, you might consider installing at least the "Traffic Simulator Only" option, as it greatly intellgencizes the game's pathfinder. The result is that your sims are vastly more likely to use alternative transit when it's available. The RTMT addon, which can be used without NAM (Not recommended), allows you an almost sinister amount of freedom in how you design your transit system.

3 pointsForgot to reply to this earlier. I do plan to make more sets of trailers at some point, and those 2 RL companies at the bottom would be no sweat. I'd never known what Wacky Packages were till I looked them up (I'd hear of them though), and those would be pretty fun trucks to make. I'll probably do that! --- So I altered the DHL texture slightly. The south render (where the front is facing the camera) still hits me as a tad bright, but I tried going darker and with less saturation and at that point the paint started to look dingy. I suppose it's fine if it's bright at that one angle since it's basically facing directly into the light source due to the angle on the front of the van. Other than that, I made a few other texture variants for the vans. I might make one or two more and call it finished. It'll be a somewhat small set. Later on I might revisit the Sprinter for other uses, seeing as it is popular as a bus, flatbed, pickup, police, and utility vehicle. Since all of those would require fairly major modifications to the model and are really quite different vehicles overall, I decided to split the them up (much like I split the semi truck box trailers from the flatbed ones). I may also fire up 3DSmax in the next few days and play around with some textures (which is honestly the main reason I half-gave up on it... that texturing system is complex ). If I am happy with the results, maybe I'll make a post about it. Now I just need to go read Jasoncw's thread for all dem tutorials on reflections and plants and sunken BATs and such...
-
3 pointsIMO the best would be to make an inverted plaza. Like Gan tower you make the plaza sunken but the same style as the real one you modeled (Or like Belfastsocrates' picture.) EDIT If it were my building, I'd do something like this: Where 1) truck loading area, maybe? Would be sunken too because it looks cool. 2) The strange blue/glass cubes on your base model. 3) Stairs. 4) Ground level entrance. 5) The pond and waterfalls. 6) Grass/trees. 7) the other blue covered hallway on your base model. Again, just my idea of how I would model the base.

2 pointsBit of a summer hiatus, but even though I haven't been posting, I have still be working on Vitarvis. On today's tour, we're going to the Gahan neighbourhood on Vitarvis's far eastern edge, a place that is almost completely surrounded by water. The updated satellite map below identifies the location in relation to our previous stops. Unlike Point Inglis, Augustein and Piedro, Gahan was never much of an independent entity. Its growth has been entirely the result of the success of Vitarvis. Gahan's seaside location proved to be attractive to suburban residential development and things really took off after the subway (Blue Line) was extended into the area. Over time, the low-density residential has slowly given way to some height and the neighbourhood is now very much an old suburb transitioning to inner city. Gahan is still though a largely low-rise district. In the picture below you can see all of Gahan including Coral Point, Warbler Pond, Gahan Beach and the Gahan Crossroads. The high-rises of Muriel Square and the waters of Lake Presario dominate the background with the Vitarvis skyline visible on the distant horizon. From down at street level in Gahan of course, you wouldn't see Vitarvis's towers. First stop is Coral Point. This jagged bit of rock is named for the coral reef that is located just below the surface on the sheltered northern side of the point. The reef is a popular stop for snorkellers while the Point is a great place to walk catch a fantastic sunrise over the sea every morning. The number bus route terminates in the road circle on the point and connects all the way to Downtown. Walking from the point, you can follow a path down to the seaside to enjoy the sand at Gahan Beach. Gahan Beach is Vitarvis's least popular beach because it's located at the bottom of a steep stoney hillside. Paths have been built to provide access, but it still means a long walk out at the end of the day. On the flipside, Gahan beach doesn't get the crowds of Vitarvis's other beaches, which means that it's popular with anyone who doesn't mind a little bit of a hike in exchange for a bit more space and solitude. Here you can see the substantial engineering that had to occur to provide a second access route down to the beach. It was a tricky walkway to build and design because of the steep hillside. The project ended up being way bigger than the surface path that was originally envisioned and of course ended up way over budget. Still, it does the job without creating additional erosion problems. Up the hill from the beach, Warbler Pond Park breaks up Gahan's street grid. Named after the large flocks of warblers that would gather in the trees on its shores, the park is much more urban now and the flock of warblers are greatly diminished. It's still a favourite promenade for locals though. Low-rise residential used to completely surround Warbler Pond, but high-rise development has shown up in recent years on the southern end along Merit Road and on the western end close to the Gahan Crossroads. Strolling in Warbler Pond Park Looking east over Warbler Pond towards Coral Point. The old McCormick Building has been recently refurbished into high end condos. The patio on the top offers a $1,000,000 view of the Pond and sea with units on the upper floors priced to match. Two main roads meet in the centre of Gahan, Muriel Avenue and Balcom Street. Muriel Avenue takes you towards Muriel Square and, eventually, Downtown Vitarvis while Balcom Street is the only road that runs along the north side of Lake Presario to Tignus Hill. The intersection of Muriel and Balcom is known locally as the Gahan Crossroads and blocks around the Crossroads function as Gahan's commerical hub. The Crossroads is also a major transit hub, featuring the second last stop on the Blue Line Metro and two intersecting bus routes. When the Metro was built, several small heritage buildings on the corner had to be demolished leaving a blank wall behind on the surviving historic Lanekirk Building behind it. There has been talk of putting a mural on the Lanekirk Building's blank wall for years, but, so far, nothing has come of it. The Crossroads from above. Note the stream of ambulances just past the intersectoin. For some reason, Gahan Hospital is a go to place for emergency services and the dispatch of ambulances is constant (not sure why Cities Skylines is picking this hospital so much but it is). A siren is a steady sound at the Crossroads. Just down from the Crossroads on Balcom Street is Rosebloom Row, a stretch of rowhouses built into the side of the hill. Rosebloom Row is overlooked by the twin Tobek Corporation Towers. Tobek Corporation is a real estate holding company and, in actuality, only occupies a few floors of Tower 1. The rest of the space is leased out to a variety of firms that want a convenient location, but not at Downtown Vitarvis prices. Before the Tobek office development, the rowhouses of Rosebloom use to extend all the way across the block. Looking up Balcom Street. Muriel Square to the left (a future update), Lake Presario and Coral Point. One final shot of the low-rise residential development that still characterizes much of Gahan. You can see the Tobek Towers to the left and the Crossroads at the top of the hill. That's all for now. Hope you've enjoyed your visit to Vitarvis.

2 pointsI doesn't matter too much which version you use but you have to keep in mind that some version only work with Win 64-Bit, I think 2013 was the last one that worked with both versions. So if you computer is not the newest one you should go for 2013 or less .Don't worry, the versions aren't too different, it's basically nothing you won't be able to bat without. For SC4, you'll be needing Bat4Max by SimFox which will enable you to create LODs, set sky and export your buildings, also you will need that for DarkNite versions.

1 pointFollowing the trend of Windows 10, Microsoft has released security update KB3086255 for Windows 7, Windows 8.1 & Windows Vista. Due to "security concerns", this intentionally disables the service which runs the secdrv.sys driver – a component of the SafeDisk protection which SC4 uses. As a result, this prevents the disk-based (CD) version of SimCity 4 from running, and you may receive an "Access Denied - Please login with administrator privileges and try again" or similar permissions error. Many other legacy games are also affected. It would seem the update simply disables the service, rather than removing secdrv.sys completely (like Windows 10 has). NOTE: This shouldn't impact users of a digital based game, such as from GOG or Steam, as these don't rely on the same copy protection. Full details of the update are as follows: Security update for the graphics component in Windows September 8, 2015 (KB3086255) https://support.microsoft.com/en-gb/kb/3086255 Workarounds 1) Purchase SC4 digitally Online retailers such as GOG or Steam offer a digital version of SimCity 4 Deluxe. This comes as a download without the need for the CD to start. It's also fully patched and doesn't use the same method of copy protection, so you can install KB3086255 without issue and play the game as normal. In the case of GOG, the game is currently sold DRM free, meaning it starts by itself without a client service (e.g. Steam). During seasonal sales, you can often purchase the game for as little as $5. 2) Redeem your SC4 Serial Number You may be able to redeem your original Serial Number (product key), found at the back at the CD's manual. This may entitle you to a free digital copy of the game, with the same benefits of not needing other workarounds. With Origin you can try contacting customer support, who can usually assist with this. As well as the serial number, you may need to provide physical evidence that you own the boxed copy, such as screenshots of the game's case & disks. Other online retailers may also offer a similar option, so it's best to contact them directly. NOTE: Use at your own risk! The following suggestions will allow SimCity 4 to run, although they could potentially expose your system to security vulnerabilities (which the update intends to bypass). Therefore it's your own responsibility should any issues arise from not installing KB3086255, however the risk level of security flaws being exploited. 3) Uninstall KB3086255 If updates are set to install automatically, you may have this update already installed. In which case, to allow the CD game to start again, without the need for any workarounds, you'll need to uninstall the update: http://www.sevenforums.com/tutorials/24373-windows-update-uninstall-update.html A quick way to check if it's installed: Enter KB3086255 in the "Search Installed Updates" box at the top right. Note: To reduce the risk, it might be worth disconnecting from the internet whilst the game is running. Also it's recommended to ensure your anti-virus has the latest protection definitions. 4) Hide KB3086255 If you haven't installed KB3086255, it might be worth hiding it from the list of updates: http://www.sevenforums.com/tutorials/24376-windows-update-hide-restore-hidden-updates.html 5) Enable secdrv.sys on demand However if you wish to retain the update, the below instructions (from the knowledge base article) describe how to start the service on demand, which should allow SC4 to run from the CD when you require: Using a script Alternatively, see the following Reddit post for a way to start the service using a batch file: https://www.reddit.com/r/simcity4/comments/3kmfmi/quick_and_dirty_solution_to_recent_windows_update/ List of systems the update is offered to: Feel free to post any comments, questions or suggestions below, or in the dedicated support thread.

1 pointHeya everyone! This year, Glenvale ties for fastest growth with Amesbury. With local elections ahead, let's take a quick look at the city, shall we? An Intercity train races across town, headed for the Capitol. The sun shines, general aviation buzzes overhead, it's a warm spring day... It is a normal day in Glenvale. Beyond the University that's also opening this year, the city's ambitions are towards better park-and-ride facilities and increasing frequency on some of the heaviest bus lines. But do the elites really care? The subway is all nice and good, but trams would have been cheaper, and taxes wouldn't have risen so sharply. 12% council tax rate city-wide! Yet life carries on, and amidst nuclear fears the very first Nuclear Vault in Kingscote was opened by Fault-Tec in the heart of Glenvale - as an exhibit, they say. Meanwhile, the seas are rising, and nobody seems to care. Does anybody ever care? They should - local elections are looming. Probably not for the passengers of the luxurious cruise ship SS Galaxy, who sail the southern Kingscote seas, and delight at every sight. South, endless seas. North...endless concrete. You'd think a city so proud of its environment would do something about climate change. You'd wish they had proper guidelines when the volcanos the city straddles awaken once again. The drought might have come and gone across the state, but the government is more intent on building yet more roads. Do you feel it? There's some sweet unrest in Glenvale, ushered in cafes, in meetings. At the Edenvale District Hall, local council members are worried about the change. Their party, the Progressive Party of Cathnoquey, is slowing down. Once the party of change, now that of complacency. They took the Federals by surprise in Glenvale, but they only won by a margin, mostly thanks to the Aldmeri Standoff. And with minor parties gaining more and more momentum, the elites running Glenvale know their time is at an end. Economic recovery, yes, but when? For the manufactories that kept closing, it looked more like disaster than anything, fueling the hatred of the National Party; for environmentalists, Green was the new red. And if Glenvale was undergoing recovery, then were did the money go? It can't have possibly all gone into the new subway and freeway. Hospitals such as the Falsworth Hospital are all at capacity, with little federal relief. And you can feed the populace Quiddich matches all you want, even have the Glenvale Gliders come out on top of the Quiddich Premier League if you like, it can't smother out completely the worries of an entire people. When does it all break down? Latest polls reported by the Glenvale Herald put the Greens on top of both county and local elections, with a 20% lead on the PPC. Perhaps it would prove to be a victory for commuters. The Greens have pledged better transportation and construction of bike and bus lanes, in due time. Some parts of town are awfully jammed, and bikes would probably quicken commuting times for a lot of Glenvale residents. Not to mention that some of the infrastructure is ageing, and shows signs of weaknesses. They will have to be replaced in time - for the main parties, shutting down the major bridges in town would amount to political suicide. But what if it's what the people want? Glenvale relies on its freeway network more than other cities in the state, after all. Collapsing bridges wouldn't be good for business. And if the Greens won't necessarily have it easy, they're also drawing a lot more attention than four years ago. Those are shaky days ahead for the political elite of Glenvale and its surrounding towns. In the streets, many want to believe things will get better. Now, even some high-profile businesses endorse the Greens openly - including Chirper, Inc. The PPC has trouble adjusting to this scenario, so they lowered transport fares, hoping to ease up the pressure. Then again, perhaps the only solution for the PPC is to take a lift down from their patios and offices and expensive downtown flats - and into the streets and lives of ordinary residents. With local Greens leader Jane Haaleri planning to shut down a nuclear plant and set up toll booths and a "congestion zone" in the heart of the city, though, both the PPC and Liberals can hope to score political points. Meanwhile, the Whiterun-born Liberals leader, a charismatic Nord called Antony Bittneld, has decided to regain Glenvale for his party and is about to hold his presidential bid in the city Convention Center - well ahead of his rivals - in order to swing the election his way. Only two months to the local election, and the Liberals have gained massive ground - but they're still trailing the Greens, whose leader has been described as "possibly the first Dunmer to win City Hall". In fact, if she wins, Glenvale would become the biggest city in the nation headed by a Dunmer. Even in this day and age, Cathnoquey still has several issues regarding race. The Aldmer and people of Akaviri descent (the Tang Mo and Ka-Po-Tun, who are ironically closer to humanity than elves are) are the usual suspects because of geopolitical tensions. Dark Elves and the beastkin also face undue racial discrimination despite many laws written to tackle the issue. A Dunmer at the head of one of the country's biggest cities would be a major victory for civil rights activists. Will the Greens vision of a tram and bike friendly city - and of a progressive one - prevail, or will the Liberals appeal to "common sense" and strong economic growth through less taxes on businesses and residents alike? And will the incumbent Progressives manage to survive the death blow that's coming to them, in Glenvale and nation-wide? The Nationals are out after their far-right movement was found guilty of burning down the homes of local Khajiit and Bosmer businessmen - banned from all state elections for six years. Too much freedom of speech kills freedom of speech, Judge Carson said as he made his way out of the Court of Commons amidst both praise and outcry from other activists. And then there is the local oddball - this election sees Mai'q the Liar, son of Mai'q the Liar, grandson of Mai'q the Liar (and so on), self-proclaimed "most honest politician" in Glenvale, who campaigns not as himself but as his Shiba Inu dog... Yet, on the sandy shores of Glenvale, many people care little about politics and just try to catch the last warm rays of the year. Don't they know the results of the election - the future of their city - rest on their shoulders? Nothing is to be taken for granted in Glenvale. The wind blows, the hills overlook the city, traffic rushes along the narrow streets in the final week to the election...It's a normal day in Glenvale to fall for anything. That's it for today, thanks for reading! Please leave feedback as always, and see you next time! =)

1 pointAnd Simcity 4 creators and players thought that Jenquai merely specialized in alchemy! NO WAY! This entry presents the massive urban aqueduct they built to serve the city of Edison Shores with water and wastewater treatment all while functioning as a park and development space. As always thanks for the comments and I hope you enjoy this piece I've had in my files for a while... First up, a series of panoramic zoom shots to capture the entire essence of the massive structure: This is a functional monument with water pumps toward the bottom of the picture and a wastewater treatment plant at the top. Now for a closer look around the structure and its water pumps: A look at the terracing of the aqueduct and development on the lower level of the structure: Another view in a different sector: A night shot of a corner of the aqueducts: Here we see the top of the aqueducts where people can rest and take in the breathtaking view: A night shot featuring one segment of the aqueduct making its way down with the highway that runs inside the structure: Oops forgot to take out the interface! Sorry Proof positive that those crafty guys at Jenquai Alchemy have branched into architecture and engineering projects that serve a community in more ways than one! Till next time! Good day or Good night!

1 pointIn such a scenario, you can use a bridge included in the NAM under the PedMalls item for crossing the avenue. It works with the pedmall system which would need to be connected next to the bus stop.
-
1 point^ This. Off the top of my head, the only situation I can think of where it matters where exactly you place the bus station would be alongside a long avenue without intersections. If you place it on the right-hand side (assuming you have right-hand traffic), the Sims "getting off the bus" (i.e., being converted from bus commuters to pedestrians) won't be able to reach any building on the opposite side of an avenue. They need some kind of crossing. The same applies to car commuters, really. Without an intersection or a possibility to turn around, they will only be able to reach buildings on their side of the avenue. If you want to see how your Sims interact with bus stations, use the Route Query tool, the lower half of the Query button with the question mark on it. Seeing the paths that your commuters take may be helpful for you. I strongly recommend using the Route Query tool anyway. It gives great insight into the actual commute paths, and it shows clearly which buildings with jobs (industry, commerce) are actually reached by your Sims and which ones your commuters don't reach within the allowed commute time. This, in turn, shows you where you need to improve your transportation system.

1 pointReading these creative base suggestion, I still prefer a non-base version of it though. Would you mind rendering the base and tower seperately if you finally decide to make a base, Girafe? Btw, the tower really makes me exicited. It's got to be one of the best futuristic building we'll ever have in SC4.
-
1 pointIn regard to the base, as I mentioned on SC4D I think the original proposal you had looked good but would have benefited from the inclusion of reflecting pool or water cascades. That would allow for a generous open area and stepped access but reduced the dominance of the hard paved surface. The bare walls of the raised podium could perhaps be made into 'living walls' incorporating planting, that would reduce the starkness of a blank wall at street level. Please forgive this incredibly crude and rushed image, but it gives an idea at the very least. If I had more time I'm make something that looked vastly better.

1 pointResidents of Dresden will never forget the day their 25,000 ton supertall smokestack was magically lifted into the air; Strangely enough the aircraft warning lights were left behind, in mid air no less. Maybe the flashing lights give them seizures? edit* Just a little background intel on the glitch here - the stack is a 'building as a prop' on the power plant lot. It's possible to manually raise the prop to that height in the lot editor but that's not what happened here. I was rasing the ground/water level of the shoreline next to the plant using the smallest scale and size and I accidently clicked on the lot. Usually that will either do nothing noticeable, it will raise the ground but with a building/lot covering the zone you won't see it. Or it will completely bulldoze the lot itself. But in this case, the prop was just suddenly jumped up like that. First time I've seen/had that happen.

1 pointKim Sunwoo Lol, well thanks for the kind words Schulmanator I will! MilitantRadical Sometimes, I wonder what compelled me to use those horribly incorporated lens flares And thanks, it took a while to compile all those photos. It's been a long time coming from my patchwork cities of color to things that looked a little more presentable Mymyjp Thanks a lot mymy Ln X Thanks, I've always been dabbling a little bit into everything (gets boring just staying with one theme sometimes), and the fire stock image probably wasn't all the best nos.17 I've totally violated the sanctity of NAM. That was one heck of an abominiation. It's why you never really see much NAM from me Sexysark:P Oh god, Thanks Ultimate727 *o* Tonraq Yeah, it's a little bit of everything from the past, a little bit from things that never really went anywhere beyond stray foreign forum posts jmsepe Haha, thanks dude tankmank It just isn't as fun until you've tried'em all SylvioJ Thanks, it's been a fun-time trying to mimick all those styles Benedict Thanks Ben ____________________________________________________________ Just a quick tease for now. It's for a super-massive mosaic project. You might be able to figure out what it's been (or going to be) influenced by. So yes, it's another Sci-Fi scene. Y'know me The final product is going to be vastly different from this. There aren't any sleek skyscrapers yet That's it for now folks, come back again when I bring in a real bucket of Random! UPDATED: I have 1/8 of the full image depicted here (This is 1/4 of what I have pieced together/stressful and tedious to piece together considering graphical issues), and so far, it's looking okay. Here's a rather limited view of the city's cliff face. Also kinda gives perspective as to the size of the final mosaic.

From the album SimCity Cyberpunk Edition.
Year 2077,after the academy's recent breakthrough on Nuclear Fusion Tech, Every City state rushed to claim the new awesome energy technology for their own personal interests to monopolise it. After a heated confrontation of the city states and the Academy's people The Old world had come to a halt when the first ICBM flew followed by hundreds more. Out of the Ashes, Omega Corporation was thus ultimately founded and began a new grim age of Crapsackiness on the Remaining populations of Sims. The Streets finds it's own uses for things.© ZedMag

1 pointMaybe it's an implication that the Nature vs Technology stuff is pointless. By the way, more stuff. Something retro this time... Highways? Pfff, don't make me laugh

1 pointWelcome to Dante's Peak!! For those who have seen the popular disaster film Dante's Peak and hoped that someone on ST would recreate it in Simcity 4, here it is. I am going to develop it, and then in a couple of weeks.......BOOM!I will destory it. Now I want to say a couple of things: 1)I know this is NOT going to look 100% like it did in the movie. The movie hid some things that are crutial to the layout(Where streets are, etc) 2)The eruption will NOT look like the eruption in the movie. The reason is because it is impossible to simulate a pyroclastic flow in simcity 4 (Unless you put the 2005 boxes next to the town). However, i will make it appear like the town and other structures were destroyed.
