Wow. That is absolutely gorgeous! You make the most realistic scenes that I've ever seen in SC4!

I do have a question - what MMP(s) did you use to make the curvy rural roads with the solid white line down the middle?

Thanks :) The roads were made with some painstaking plopping of ChrisAdams MMP paths and the white lines were added in after the fact in photoshop.

Great detail and amazing quality as usual. Question though, how much of these images is in the city, and how much is photoshopped? Keep up the good work. :)

Do keep in mind that generally, if there's something new you haven't seen before in my updates - that means I probably created it from scratch. For example, for this update I created a new terrain mod, 3 or 4 rock mods, new Athenian road textures, 100+ custom lots,  a handful of custom MMPs, lots of MMP modding, so on and so forth to get the sort of hyper realism I want. In addition to things like the rural roads which are painstakingly plopped by hand in the game using ChrisAdams MMP and takes hours to create. So there isn't really that much photoshop going on. Thanks for the comment :)

Totally stunning! Okay, some buildings of the Athen´s Acropolis seem not to be availlable but the ruins of Tholos, and Athens itself with the ugly buildings and the massive traffic jam, they remind me again to my travel there. Great stuff!

Thanks, glad you liked it so much.

@korver That makes me me even more impressed at this entry (and CJ as a whole).  Sometimes you see SC4 pictures that have been edited so much, in terms of adding objects, that they are hardly real. Also, the fact that you go to the effort to make all the custom content really shows dedication to realisim. That response has impressed just as much as the entry, and in someways, knowing that, makes the actual SC4 content even better and even more appreciated.

Thanks :)

I'm going to Athens and Santorini this summer in holidays, but I guess now I can just cancel the flights. Already saw Greece with this update!! ;)

Has our most prominent Greek resident (@Terring) seen this?

Wow, I'm jealous. I'm not much of a traveler, soo this is the next best thing for me :P Thanks for the comment.

Oh boy, that's awesome! This is one of the best recreations (if not the best) of Greece in Simcity 4 I've ever seen. Well done!! :thumb:

Ω φίλε, είναι τέλειο! Είναι απ' τις καλύτερες απεικονίσεις (αν όχι η καλύτερη) της Ελλάδας στην Εξομοιούπολη 4 που έχω δει ποτέ. Εύγε!! :thumb:

I was actually wondering if I would ever see you here once I first saw you were from Greece - nice to see it has your stamp of approval :thumb:

Very impressive. The Tholos of Delphi image was particularly beautiful.

I'm impressed you make your own lots, props and mods to complement the excellent photoshop work. A wonderful CJ

Thank you, glad you appreciate all the hard work that goes into this CJ. :)

Just. Simply. Wow. All of them are top ones for me. They're not only among the best I've ever seen, they are equal in greatness.greatness . Unbelievable.

And, btw

Quote

I now am of the opinion that you raised the city of Athens to its glory and greatness. ;)

Thanks for the comment - I was actually thinking of you when I chose that quote which is why I chose it lol, I was like "wait.. that name sounds familiar :P

Well, what can I say? I've been to Athens once, I've been to Santorini, and I've seen some of the monasteries of Meteora... now this makes me feel like returning. You did an amazing job recreating these sceneries and capturing their charm.

Thank you, nice to hear that my pictures can have that sort of effect.

Extremely realistic!  I especially like the Metora, Greece picture.  It looks photo-realistic.

So you mentioned in one of your responses that you actually created custom losts, mmp, terrain and rock mods.  Any chance that you have submitted any of the content on STEX or LEX?

Thanks for the comment - unfortunately, none of my stuff is exactly user friendly, which is the main obstacle in terms of releasing things. For example, my lots.. they're a complete mess in terms of dependencies. For example my one Djenne market lot I made a while back had something like 65 dependencies when I viewed it in the reader, and I don't even remember where exactly I got all of them.. Same could be said for pretty much all my other stuff. And my MMPs are equally chaotic, countless poorly documented MMPs with all sorts of random additions made like occupant sizes, cluster sizes, slope modding etc so I probably wouldn't even be able to tell you what exactly you were downloading, what dependencies were needed, or what additions were made. So yeah, unfortunately I currently have bigger issues at hand like understanding modding better and (most importantly) cleaning up my nasty, nasty plugins folder(s) :P But maybe sometime down the road we'll see.

No matter how many times you'd argue, there's no way you'll fully convince me these weren't photos just shot from a plane. It's that realistic!

Thanks for the comment :)

Excellent work once again, first mosaic is breath taking!

Not a big fan of the stretched rock texture though, it kinda detract from the scenery and frankly the mount fitz roy update suffered from the same issue imho. However, since the rest of the terrain is pretty much covered by MMPs you might want to play around with the texture scaling factor in the terrain controller and see if you can arrive at a less stretched look.

That being said, SC4 ruins have never looked this gorgeous!!

Great work, looking forward to more!

Thanks for the comment. Fixed it for ya :)
