I'm Jones Murphy. Currently a student at the Georgia Institute of Technology, intending to study Computer Science. Got into SimCity 4 quite a while ago, but never really built any serious cities until now. I saw there was a City Journal subforum on this site and I thought it might be cool to start one, then look back through it when my city is freakin huge. And that's the story of how I got here.

Hello, I'm SlimGenre, which (like Rufus Honker) is also an anagram for my name that someone came up with 10 years ago and has just stuck.

 

You may remember me from my forum posts in which every single initial response to the question I've asked begins with the phrase, "this is not the right forum for this question."  

 

I'm 32, live in the mountains of Colorado.  I also grew up on the original Nintendo SimCity in my younger years, although I've only been playing SC4 for a few months now (I know, 10 years behind the curve)... Discovered something called "STEX" about a month ago and this website called simtropolis where these crazy people are still devoted to this 10 year old game.

Hi. My name is Bernie, 52 and I live in the Great State of New Jersey. My turnons are  Rainy days, long walks in the forest, puppies.........oops, wrong forum.

 

I've been a casual gamer for the past 20 years or so, so I'm a bit of a late bloomer. I'm mostly a srategy guy, I started with SC 2000 and Allied General on Playstation. I moved onto PC games like the rest of "General" series, Close Combat, Axis and Allies, etc. I still have Civ4 on my machine and fire it up occasionally.I spend a lot of time with Trainz Simulator 12, I'm a big railroad aficionado.

 

Never played Worldofwhatchamacallit or any of those online games save for World of Tanks. I am a big History buff, especially WWII. I like WoT, but the epeen waving and other childish nonsense that goes on there has made me not play nearly as often as I did, I'm not into all that competitive nonsense anymore, I leave that to the young crowd.

 

I last played SC3000U a few years back and the new release had me hankering to play again. Unfortunately, I lost my copy of 3000. I figured I'd give SC4 a shot before trying the new version, I'm a bit put off by the bad press right now to be honestas well as the always online requirements.

 

Yes, I am a baseball fan, unfortunately I root for the New York Mets.

I've already leeched (so) many things from Stex and other files from other sites (lex/plex/even some cool japanese bats )

I just say that after almost 10 years of SC4 and as many regions, i think it's time for me to submit my work

I made a new account here because I've forgot my old account's password. Right now, I'm playing SimCity 4 Deluxe Edition with NAM and many other mods. But I've lost my old cities because I've to reinstall it on my new computer. Also, I decided not to buy SC2013 because of poor reviews from Cities XL players, which is also the game I (no longer) played, and small city sizes, and server problems, and non contiguous tiles (in SC4, the city tiles are small too, but I consider it a district of a metropolitan area, which is the region). Alongside SC4, I also play Microsoft Flight Simulator X, and you can find me at flightsimworld as FSX_Gamer. My first city journal will come soon!

Hey young man, welcome to Simtropolis! Same here, I'm a die-hard fan of SC4, but buying SC2013 is the very last thing that I would do.

 

Googled Microsoft Flight Simulator X, it looks really fun. Will definitely give it a try some time.

Hello, new to the forum... I have been playing sim city for years... I love building cities.... I was getting kinda board and decided to look for add ons and mod and I HAD NO IDEA....... but now I do.   In my haste I downloaded a lot of files and now only some things work.   I went back and got most of the dependances once I realized what I had done......

 

if anyone knows the quick answer to...........   Dock add on thing that pops up in a big brown paper box wrapped up in string labeled Sim City... another dock type thing did it too. 

 

Rural freight stop has clearish base bottom...... I guess it is a texture issue?  I think maybe I have competition textures or something?  ack.   The roads are frustrating... I can't get back to the old roads... I am not likeing the rural road thing... do I just delete that file.

 

Sorry about my excitement and ineptitude.  Please help.

You should take a look at this forum, and the thread might be helpful too. It is probably a dependency issue. Always be very careful when you download custom content, you should build up slowly

Well, I'm Steve. I used to trawl about this board quite a bit in my youth, in fact, SC4 was my video game obsession from about the age of ten until fourteen. I created vast cities filled with computer clogging custom content! Like was great! Then, disaster struck, and my SC4 disk went MIA. I was crushed, my life seemed over, then I moved on, and left ST and my previous avatar here behind, information on which has long since been lost to the seas of time. Then, a few days ago, I found myself in an SC4 nostalgia orgy over on Airline Empires (a fantastic site, I'd recommend it) and I decided to go on Steam and purchase my old friend (god that sounds bad), and rebuild my empire of custom content on a computer from this century. And now we're here. So yeah, that's it.

Well, about time I started participating the forums.

 

I've always looked for info in here but never posted, I had some hard time figuring SC4 mechanics and have many thanks to here for helping on my knowledge, and since now SimCity is purely online and all about making regions together, I might as well start looking for Origin friends from afar.

I'm from Brazil, so yes really far away on my special tropical paradise (or not so much 'cause I'm not from Rio) kind of difficult finding other Brazilians on international forums, you might think I'm Asian from the picture. Well... I am also Asian, huge Japanese colony in here specially on my city, my name is Ed (well, trully is Eduardo, but since English speakers have a hard time having said it right, everytime I visit the US or the UK I just say I'm Ed), and since I'm Asian, my middle name is Seiji, where my usual username comes from. I'm a marine biologist, kinda weird for people on my area to like this kind of game, 21yo and finally in the middle of the year break, so I'm gonna have a bit more of free time to play my brand new SimCity...

 

I've bought SimCity about two weeks ago and looked for again in here for info, since A LOT changed and I'm having a hard time figuring it out by myself.
