i'm didn't introducing for the first time i'm coming here even searching for cool stuff to beautify my simcity (really embarrasing), and now this first time i'm introducing my self after long time i've been here, oh my God this is shames..

Tassie Aussie Girl here. Winter is setting in and I am sure to be spending am awful lot of time at home. So SC4 Deluxe will be getting a long run. I have been playing it standard, but now am looking for a bit more bite for my time, so I am here to learn the how toos and what fors of SC4.

 

The hardest part is where to start, I have downloaded a few mods to learn how to install and finding my way around the folders.

Do I need NAM32 so I can use those really cool road mods?

I am not new to gaming but approaching this as a complete Newbie, learning the must haves for the newbie?

So looking at how large the site is and how much information is on here I am sure I am safe hands (so to speak)

I am so pleased I found this site.

Welcome, we have a big Australian community here, _A, ROFLYoshi to mention a few. So please feel free to room around and interact, they are cool people you know.

 

For your question, yes. You need the NAM for all those good looking roads and highways you see, even those avenues that are widened. The NAM also comes with new trains and terminals and most importantly, the NAM fixes your commute time by letting the sims travel to their work via the shortest time instead of the shortest route. 

 

There are also a lot of goodies in the STEX and I recommend a stroll in the exchange to check out some new Bats. Just a word of advice, searching for plugins is addicting due to the many good things you will see.

 

This site is really massive and it has almost everything you need for simcity except for some plugins and dependencies but you can always ask anyone here if you feel lost. You can also post any problem you find in the right sub-forum or you can pm the moderators for further questions.

I took your advice and download Nam32 just finished installing it and wow you werent wrong lots of cool features the railways and roads are excellent.

I'm an average Joe, and started with SimCity 2000 on my parents' computer (soon after we upgraded from Windows 3.1).  I've stuck with SC4 and felt no need to move onto the newer titles.  I should have a law license within a year.  For now I'm living a nice peaceful existence and boosting my computer science knowledge for some reason.  Basically, I looked up a Computer Science B.S. program, wrote down the classes, and outlined the contents of all the required classes and some electives.  This very well could be folly, but we'll see how it goes; my momentum is pretty good so far.

@Tax: your decision to not move to newer sc4 titles is totally correct! Sc4 is the best city building game that have exer existed in this world (and in the universe). All newer titles are a bit more than an overpriced junk of crap.

I love this game since Simcity 2000.

 

I was a little bit disappointed by some bugs and incoherences but thanks to the modders all was forgotten.

Hi,

I'm called Nadja, 34 married, no kids yet and am a huge game fanatic. Some of my all time favorites are Zak mckraken, the Monkey island series and of the more recent games I like assasins creed series, the god of war series, uncharted and so course I can go on and on, but you get my drift. Also I really enjoy the building games like simcity or anno and even the settlers. I also play the sims 3 a lot and currently got bored with it so I switched to simcity. I do have to say I am not very good at building a city, almost always I'm in the red and can't get out of it so I start a new city. And of course it happens again LOL.

As for movies I really like fantasy and supernatural, but in every genre I like some movies. I also like a lot of tv- series. Usually the American ones. The ones made here ( the Netherlands) are boring.

Well I hope I will get better at simcity and I'll be reading you.

Hello, people, having lurked here for more than a month, I may as well Introduce myself.
My name is Eduardo, 22, born and raised in Mexico City's suburbs, currently renting an apartment in the city to study in it's University City. I've been playing SimCity 4 since 2008 but only recently, until I got back to playing it this year, have I started making succesful, aesthetically acceptable cities. I'm also just begining to play with a heavy usage of custom content aside from the NAM (there's truly a dizzying amount of it), and to explore the BAT and Lot Editor. I'm also waiting for Christmas sales to get retro and buy a copy SC2000, and maybe SC3000 heheh.

The main reason why I love this game is the potential it allows for setting creativity free, Just look at the great mods and inspiring CJ's that have kept this game alive for more than 10 years. But also because, in spite of all it´s problems, I've really came to like city life in a major metropolis, and i like how SC4 allows for some recreation of that.

Anyways I think I've gotten good at this game, and with more than 1GB worth of plugins (and increasing), I may start a CJ or post at the forums to interact with this great community.

I'm an old timer when when it comes to gaming [i remember playing the first asteroids on the 2 player tabletop] You do the math!!! LOL. anyway SimCity 2013 is my first sim game I've ever played it is also my first with PC games. So please understand why I ask so many Questions. However I LOVE this game so I'll continue to learn and improve. I'm also trying to get together some showcases of some cool city's. I'm currently working on SimLanta An correct depiction of Atlanta Ga. That I must say is turning out pretty well.I'm also doing some Tribute vids for the modders.... Already did one for Skye. Hi everyone, I'm here for a long time, too. My real name is Jonas and I'm from Liechtenstein. I've started playing Sim City 4 since it's release and started to love it since the release of Rush Hour. I studied spatial planning in Rapperswil (Switzerland) and I'm currently working in Chur (Switzerland) in a private spatial planning office, mostly for communities in Graubünden.
