Hello Guys, Welcome to Simtropolis!

Well, I'm just going to stop by for today, since I have been a bit busy these days, especially with Graduation coming. I hope to see you all around soon :)

Hello all. I'm a 43 married with two kids Systems Engineer that has been involved in the gaming industry for 20 years. I started as the owner of GameDemo.com and moved on to demo hardware and games from all regions. I'm not working in gaming anymore, but I love to take the little time I have now and spend it playing games or messing with a RC toy of any kind. I'm playing Tomb Raider, Elder Scrolls V Skyrim Dragonborn, and SimCity. When I get the chance and need the adrenaline fix, I'll just into CS-GO for a quick game.

SimCity is like crack for me lately. Looking for people to friend up with so I can play with others. I'm having issues with finding a game to join that isn't already full and isn't a month old. Does anyone know if there is a way to SORT that stupid list? Or is everyone else in the same boat as I am?

OlySpec here checking in after spending a lot of time lurking and learning.  43 and completely enthralled with this game.  Love the complexity and ability to create and manage at macro and micro levels.

I have been playing since day 1 live release and have yet to max out any of the specialties or even started a Great Works yet.  I have a hard time with being patient, but getting better as I design my cities more efficiently and plan more than play now.

I look forward to meeting like-minded gamers in game and spend some time in cooperative play.

I feel it will take me a very long time to master and look forward to the challenge.

^ Welcome, whatever your name is! :P

I would recommend picking a new user name though. The vast majority of our users here can't read Asian characters so they won't be able to call you anything. Also those characters probably won't appear on all computers. Maybe try a romanisation?

You might want to try to keep it friendlier ;) There's no need to react like that to a friendly, well-meant suggestion from an established member (in other words: someone who knows the site and knows what is recommendable and what not).

I was just joking around, mate. My apologies if I seemed a bit harsh.

And I don't see how I could change my username without making a new account.

Greetings!

I am JukEboX. I am a competitive gamer from Day Of Defeat: Source. I have playing SimCity since SNES! I played SimCity on SNES when I was little and I love how far it has come. When I got my first computer I played SimCity 2000, SimCity 3000, SimCity 4: Rush Hour and now SimCity 5. Though many had issues getting into SimCity 5 I had no problem getting in and having fun.

Actually when I was playing on the beta I made a video. http://www.twitch.tv/jbxgamingtv/b/368238506

I am excited to share my city pictures and videos with you all. Questions?

Very nice, hope you enjoy your time here. :)

Yes, from registration, there's a three year time restriction for display name changes. I suggest you kindly ask an admin via PM to change it for you. Just say what you'd like the new name to be. Though I believe you'll still have to sign in using your old username name (the display name is only what's visible on the forums).

You might be disappointed, but I don't think there are mods (yet) for the new Simcity. We have plenty for SC4, however :) Welcome on Simtropolis!

Hi, user name is CanuckWild (obviously).

From my user name, you have likely deduced that I am Canadian  :O . However, the user name is more indicative that I like hockey and clearly my favourite team is Vancouver. I have, however, fallen out of love with the NHL over the past 15 years, and thus, do not follow the Canucks much. I still love hockey just not the over corporatocracy that has infiltrated the NHL.

I have been playing SimCity since SimCity 2000 and have been playing SC4 since 2007. I have frequented this site for various mods over the years but never really integrated into the community. I am not much of a modder, although I have dabbled in it. I do not play video games religiously, like some, but do enjoy them when I get the chance. I do freelance social research, which basically means that I talk to a wide variety of people on a regular basis and shift workplaces a lot. So, when I get the chance to play games I do so, I find it relaxing. I do not exclusively or even primarily play simulation games. My most played games are more sports oriented. I enjoy playing MMO's, RPG's, and Adventure games (Zelda, Mario, Oblivion and the likes). I do not like first person shooters to any degree.

Other than that, I enjoy building things, with my mind as well as with my hands. Thus, I enjoy SimCity and that's pretty much why I am here.

P.S. - being that I spend a great deal of time in social issues, I am quite opinionated on anything that has to do with a variety of policy issues. I do try and keep my thoughts, analyses, and opinions to myself but some may slip through. If that happens, understand that I am quite approachable to discussion and debate. I am not into arguing.

Enjoy your simming experiences  :)   :)   :)   :)

Hello everyone, thought I should post a proper intro.  I'm a long-time fan of the SimCity series, since the version on the SNES back in the early 90s (just like Jukebox!).  I've been playing SC4 on-and-off since it was released, and I've gotten back into it hardcore after Simcity 2013 was so... underwhelming.

In another life I was McClamm on this forum, but I stopped playing SC4 for a long time after I didn't have enough time to learn how to BAT properly and keep up with the modding community.  I'm proud to see got over 10000 downloads :)... I put a lot of effort into that re-lot.  I'm hoping I can be helpful to the community again.  I'll eventually end up posting some custom lots I make up for my current region.

As far as outside of the SC4 arena goes, I'm a software developer living in Northern Virginia; my other hobbies are reading science fiction, anime (and manga to a limited extent), distance running, and bicycling.

Hello TotalCasual/McClamm, Welcome back!

A lot of things have changed on the site :P, and with the advancement of BAT Technology I do believe that you can keep up and do it :). Once again, Welcome back and I hope to see you at the forums again. :)

I'm Rufus Honker IV, which is an anagram for Kevin Frushour.   I was born in Toledo, Ohio in 1974 and have since multiplied my length by a factor of 3.619, and my weight by a factor of 22.564.  I'm married and have three growing nerdlings.

I am PROUD to say the first video game I ever beat is the much reviled ET the Extraterrestrial for the Atari 2600.  I played the original Simcity and each installment since.  I like Civilization, Half Life, Portal, Warcraft, Starcraft and Diablo.

I'm a heavy wiki user and love TV Tropes - I'm Pittsburghmuggle on there.  I'm the administrator of my family's geneaology wiki.

My favorite animal is the aardvark.

Hi!

Back in the "good old days" back in '03-'05 I was a pretty active regular here during which I built a small city or two, tested some mods and BATs and had a pretty successful run as a member of the old BAT Squad developing some recreations of some of the more significant buildings in the Buffalo, NY area. Anyway I sort of fell off the face of the Earth for a while; real busy time in life.

Anyway I got the urge to get back into the swing of things. My first impression is that while things certainly seemed busier around here back in those days, I think that with the incredible developments put forth by the modding community (NAM in particular) and the nature of the game vs. the newer disappointments errr versions of SimCity, this particular version of the game is entering a golden age. It's nice to still see some of the familiar names around here as well, along with a bunch of new "faces".

This time around I don't expect to be as active with the BAT (though I won't rule out the occasional project; there are still a bevy of unfinished one of which I'd like to push at least one out) but rather spend more time actually playing the game. I have to be honest, I have never built a city as large as even 50,000, I don't believe. Time to change that, and maybe a City Journal or twelve in the process!

-Chris

P.S. 10 years in and I finally get my 1000th post. :meh:
