Skylines Lagging Like Crazy
Sim Shady 32 replied to EricG.'s topic in Cities: Skylines Technical Help Q&A
460 watts is plenty. Just buy a good brand. My favorite is Seasonic as they make power supplies only. Others usually use their power supplies and slap their brand (OCZ, Corsair, etc.). I like gold rated ones, they have the price per efficiency. I have a 350 watt on my i5-4440 and GTX 650 ti with 8gb and it doesn't even get to 200watts even when stress testing. Your system should be fine. Lag is usually caused by high traffic volumes. The lag comes from more the active agents than population totals. Your 2gb video can handle up to 1080p monitor fine. If you play on higher resolutions you may have extra lag from running out of memory. Mods and assets will increase lag as well. some very quickly. Traffic++ is horrible and cuts my fps in half in some cases. remember, this game is CPU intensive. iMacs usually have laptop CPU which are under powered as they are designed to be portable and run on batteries. also, This game is agent based which means you need to get your agents (cims) from point A to point B in a timely manner. So traffic is going to be the main goal of this game. So busy traffic means low frames rates (lag). Macs do have their own issues and may be OS X version related. Ok thanks for the advice! it blew so quick I assumed it was the size, But it's to late, I've purchased a Corsair 650 modular gold. I guess it'll be overKill. -

Hello thought I'd ring in on this... I've also noticed SERIOUS lag, In fact my first old computer just gave up after a couple of weeks of playing. I built a new computer And inside of the first week my NEW CM 460 PSU blew up! So my thoughts are, this game is way too resource heavy for most computers, However I see you specs. are way higher than mine I.E> Intel 3258 3.2 GHz, 8GB Ram, EVGA 750TI FTW... Before the PSU went out I had a city 32000 pop. and was starting to see a little lag... but things were going ok... then Death :-(.. So good luck.. I myself am upgrading to a 650 PSU, Going to attempt MORE power & Overclocking wish me luck...Hope this helps -

Please forgive my ignorance, what exactly does this do? I don't quite understand. Can I play without any internet connection?... Does this replace Orion? -

no problem, just hold control while over roads with bulldozer and it will highlight different segments to make it easy to find that little road bit or bits -

More than likely you have a small section of UDon going the wrong way to find sections I find it easy to just Highlight roads with bulldozier and that will let you see all road segments... good luck..
