Damn that's a real shame. Thank God I downloaded all of Paeng's little files in the forum sections of Simpeg4. Are there any plans of posting the coal cheatsheet on Simtropolis as part of this new PLEX legacy section?

Dear sir/madam/whoever will read this!

This profile is now defunct.

Computer problems and issues with accessing my Imageshack account meant My SC4 CJ Scrapbook was lost and utterly irretrievable. This setback put me off SC4 for many months.

Apologies for the inconvenience and for the lost pictures.

But that SC4 itch did not go away and it had to be scratched! I have started afresh with a new account here- The British Sausage

The URS is a spiritual successor to the SC4 CJ Scrapbook.

With this update this will be the last time I visit my original Simtropolis account- admin/mods feel free to remove it or do whatever you need to do. I have no further use for the Ln X (BLANKBLANK) account.

With regards, Miles Saunders-Priem aka. Ln X aka. The British Sausage

......  We will also be attempting to update the omnibus here with what articles we've managed to save from the simposium.  However, that is currently only a bare handful of what was lost.

See PM.

This is really sad and quite a blow! I will miss SimPeg dearly. I had many laughs over there. I will keep the bookmark anyway in remembrance and look forward to the section here.

Man this sucks!!  I want to thank Pegasus and the Simpeg staff for all their hard work and many wonderful creations over the years.  Your BATs, Lots and Mods truly enhanced SC4 and contributed to its longevity.

Hopefully as Pegprod stated, most of the PLEX can be preserved here on the STEX.

There is a library in San Francisco that documents the internet.  You may try to see if they can help to recover any unrecoverable pages...https://archive.org/

These are a few file attachments by Paeng that were available on the forum but not on the PLEX. I archived them. These are the only ones I have on hand. If anyone has more let's archive them as well.

Paeng Inseki Big Rock (I am not sure what this is)

Paeng Ped Malls Park (Another gem!)

2 Folders: (1) The Coal Collection v_100 & (2) Urban Funicular

Paeng Sidewalk Texture Mod (This may have been posted on the PLEX but it may be needed for those who want the same Sidewalk Textures in the aforementioned "Paeng Ped Malls")

INTRO Replacement (Exclusive to the PLEX and unavailable on the STEX. DO NOT dump this in your MyDocuments/Plugins folder. Backup the game's intro.dat file before replacing. I do not have a readme available.)

I was never a frequent visitor of Simpeg but surely it will be missed. I have great time searching for bats and mods in PLEX

What a loss!

Simpeg felt like a nice little café where I went to have some conversation with friends from all over the world. Now they closed the café down and I have to walk the streets...

PS: maybe Paeng can upload his gems to the STEX? I guess he didn't crash with the site?

That is a big loss for the whole community!

I did visit SimPeg once in a while and was always amazed by the creations they had over there!

Kind regards!

It's a pity SimPeg is gone. I didn't go there often, but I liked reading some of the articles and tutorials. As for Paeng's little files that were attached to posts, I guess I have quite a few of those. Is he still around?

My, oh my, this is absolutely terrible! :(  I can recall some of the good times I had at SimPeg.  Some of them involve going there to get dependencies; some don't even like doing that, but I didn't mind.  Other memorable experiences include downloading those lots that I either needed to replicate a coastline or rural area.  Some of the lots I got from the site were simply those that I saw in some CJ and had to have.  Like I said, these were good times!

I did make it into the PCG beta testing group at one point, meaning I was able to beta test SPAM before it officially hit the shelves.  That was certainly one of the good times I've have with SC4.  Some of my favorite memories of SimPeg also include reading Paeng and Abcvs's CJ's, and it's heartbreaking that those are gone.  At least now I know Peg didn't just decide to shut the site down; in the back of my mind, I didn't think he would just do that out of the blue as committed to the site and content as he has been.

I always regarded Simpeg as a specialty resource for custom content.  If we are able to now access this, or most of it, on the STEX it is incumbent on us to make sure we have good backup facilities off-site.  Life often hands you lemons.  Let's hope we can make some lemonade.

There were also a couple SPAM patch files in the forums (bolded; that I only found quite recently - just in time it would seem); not sure if they've been lost along with the rest.

The files I have from the forums:

  • Cranes MMP by paeng
  • SC3000 Style Incinerator by paeng
  • Horses MMP by paeng
  • Airport Pasture Patch by paeng
  • Cleaner Maxis Farm Fields by ScottFTL
  • SPAM Irrigation Canal to Ppond-Transition by Becca
  • Seasonal Grain-Sunflowers by paeng
  • Blind_Prop by paeng (I believe this had been provided in a later pack)
  • The Coal Collection by paeng

If those have been lost, I have the original downloads available in my personal archive which I can provide if/as authorized.

I put this in the other thread, but we haven't yet tried to collate which forum attachments we have copies of yet.  Paeng is still here and working with us, but he hasn't checked which of his attachments he still has in raw form.  Just to be safe, anyone with forum attachment files can PM them to myself or Pegprod.  We'll get to them, but first we have to get Pegasus' stuff moved over, sorted, and updated.

It's terrible that Simpeg is gone, never got to finish going through some of the CJs and threads... At least it's not completely dead, it will be nice to see the new PLEX section, I'm seeing files mentioned I'm not sure I have or knew about.

I thought about this, and am still thinking about it because though I've thought about this, I still have more thinking to do as to stop thinking about it would mean not to think.

I had a number of lots and MMPs that I included as attachments on my Lot and Mod threads... I'll have to go back and find them and maybe get them included as part of the PLEX content or something...

Now where am I going to go to find out what I planted in my garden last year?

If we all co-operate, we might be able to get a pretty good restoration on this site.  With the Internet, nothing is ever completely lost.

The Wayback Archive only really works if you have the links to the pages and you also never know just how much has actually be saved by the Wayback, but once you have that ....

You can actually get into some of the CJ's and tutorials

Unfortunately with the Wayback they have to visit the site and so taking Paeng's CJ as an example its from a snapshot taken in 2010 and only some of the pages are there  :(

... there are maybe more recent snapshots but its finding them is the problem as the WayBack has over 8000 pictures, links, forum posts, etc saved from the SimPeg site
