File Sharing Collaboration

Hi everyone!

This thread is a place to discuss sharing files ST may have lost due to the destruction of our old server.

In here is a place to coordinate efforts to find certain items of content, particularly those which are harder to find. At some stage, we might need to make a public appeal for particular files, but it depends what we still need.

This is to cover STEX files, attachments (files and images), or other images from the Gallery, CJs, or other site sections. Additionally, for anyone who might have saved posts or topics from the ST Dark Age (after 28 Feb), please post those below in a format which is easiest for you.

You may share links to files collections you may have (e.g. to Google Drive, OneDrive, etc). If someone else has already uploaded the same files you have, no worries at all. In actual fact, we encourage doing so, especially for files that haven't yet been restored. We imagine for some, there will be older uploads which are harder to locate, since the ultimate aim is to restore previous versions of content along with the latest iteration.

Anyone who shares files may proceed with the processing efforts, but there is no obligation.

In the SC4E discord we have the #🆘-temporary-stex channel where a large number of files have been posted. I made a copy of the channel and all it's contents here, which you can access outside of discord. One of the nice things I'm finding it that this version supports searching for files directly, which discord for whatever reason cannot do. There's a few pinned comments in the upper right where a few people have shared contents of plugins folders as text files too.

I'll post my OneDrive backups files here that myself and a few others have been using.

The Simtropolis folder represents what I have that may not have been uploaded yet. Please note that this is a compilation of anything I had saved from 2024 on. While I did attempt to 'clean out' things a bit, It may contain more than just STEX files and often multiple versions of the same files. When using items from this compilation for restorations, please be sure to check for the proper file to restore. 

The ST Feb-Apr 2026 folder represents those newer items that were uploaded after the last save date that were not recoverable during the restroation process.

Finally, please copy any files you use. Don't simply remove them from the folders.  

Oh, yes, these backups only contain SC4 files. Unfortunately, I didn't do any downloading for other games, nor did I download many maps.

Unfortunately I have no files newer than 2019 so I won't be able to help with replacing lost files. I will still try to help with Processing and Verifying.

Adding to the files collections people have kindly shared, @Wiimeiser posted on Discord the files they'd downloaded between June 2024 and April 2026.

This amounts to about 10 GB in total. We may already have a number of these restored by now, but it'll still be worth considering when we get around to sorting previous versions of files. Some of these might be older iterations of files that we'll still want to re-upload later on.

It's worth mentioning how previous version restoring will be done using a separate tracker page (which I'll be developing sometime). So for now, I'm just noting if you see any previous versions, please keep track of them in some way. It might be some file names specifically include version numbers, or to look inside the zips for when files were modified. It's also possible that Readme files could contain useful info.

Also let me know if you'd like to free up space on your Google Drive, as I can get these ported over to the ST server.

I forgot to tell that I have some original images of STEX files on SimCity SQUARE. The file ids go up to 36885 (615JamesStreetKassonPlace) and simcity4 files only.

IIRC @rivit had a version of SC4DataNode that was patched with long file name support, but that version was posted after March 1st. There are also a few file comments related to the long file name support that were lost.

Thanks for the ping @Null 45. I had completely forgotten this happened just before the hole, and it was in a passing thread. I've now updated the official release files on STEX to v1.36.
