Those trucks look absolutely fantastic. I know you mentioned different textures for variety but are you also planning to have 'stuff' in some of the trucks. Things like gravel, sand or even equipment?

You know, concerning blank props (a great idea that should be used more often, btw!) I have recently wondered if you actually need an invisible dummy model at all, or if it would be sufficient to add a few resource keys that are all zeroes. Just a random thought, I haven't made any tests myself yet.

If things don't work like that, another thought is that Maxis has used the technique as well, some notable examples being those irrigation things on the farm fields and trashcans in front of family homes. If using all-zero resource keys is not possible, it may be possible to tap into whatever Maxis used as a blank dummy. This would keep external content to a minimum, so it would be a much more elegant solution than what I have used before... :uhm:

A null RTK value has worked fine for me. Assuming you are adding them as timed groups also, they will need RTK4 values. If you are using RTK4, then you can add a property "Prop random chance" which works the same as having blank props. If a prop is selected in a family, it could have say a 70% chance of actually appearing. You really need to decide on these values before modding though. My best attempts to make props use a cohort for easy reconfiguration all failed. From what sparse information on this there seems to be, I'd say it's probably not possible :(. So unless you want to edit many props later, best to work these things out with a small test group first.

Do you like custom textures, but don't like all the work involved creating them?, take a look at the Texture Automation options here. Vortext is the modding master who helped with the historic harbor set, and he used the 'prop random chance' property on many of the props in that set.  You could take a look at them, or shoot him a PM, I'm sure he would share his knowledge.

Really nice job.

I just would be cautious about the size especially if you intend to use these models for parking.

Someone released extremly good parking textures recently. I think they will be the reference in the future. Therefore I would encourage you to do some testing with them to define the proper size eve if cheating with the real dimensions.

As it seems you use 3dsmax, I would advice you to have a look at the metallic paint material which gives nice result for cars.

I am eagerly waiting for the trucks, they are so amazing :)

Very exciting! This is going to be an immense and much welcome vehicle expansion pack.

I like Girafe's suggestion of trying to achieve a metallic paint finish, if you can. I think that would add something extra to the pack.

So let me get this right. You'll render two different sets of vehicles, one JPN set, and one (slightly larger) US set? That seems like a lot of rendering to me. You continue to go above and beyond what I could ever expect...

I would give you all my money, only to see all of them converted in to automata packs.

Great work.

I feel like it's a disservice to your work to only offer SD packs, though I can understand if the rendering time would kill you.

I do look at the VIP/Girafe HD car prop packs, though, and wonder if they are feeling lonely. They probably are, and you would do well to provide them company.

Excellent work all around, and like Aaron said, I think school buses would be a great underrepresented project as well. American school buses at least (I can think of 5 distinct styles off the top of my head that I've ridden in), and maybe Japanese (do they have those?) and British (I think they have them).

Anyways, the work here is incredible. Sorry for not stopping in more often.

Cars , trucks , vans and parking lots . Oh my .

Everything is looking really good so far . SD and HD would be great as some of us are using very old PC's . Either way , you're doing a great job . Looking forward to a release for DL .

Wow! Stupendous work on those cars and school buses! Those textures look great as well. Man, seeing these after finishing up my modular parking set makes me kinda wish that didn't just stick with the SHK cars and went with the HD route. Wouldn't hurt to make another one I guess. :P

Keep up the great work! I am so, so looking forward to these, especially the FA3 variants. At this point I'm hoping that whatever textures that I end up making aren't doing a disservice to your vehicles.

@kingofsimcity - Thanks! More parking textures from KOSC? That sounds too good to be true!

The long-nose versions are done now. I went with the 1990's design for the Navistar International 3800 class C bus frame to represent this. The two cabover buses (class D) will be represented by the 3900FE and the 3900RE. There really isn't anything else to explain so I'll just let the pictures talk this time.

Those buses look great! I didn't even know about the short versions, but of course they make sense. I must confess, however, that I'm not entirely sold on the roof texture/material. It looks a bit too grainy and random for my taste, almost like white marble. Aren't there any roof hatches for ventilation, or longitudinal or transverse ribs on the real buses?

Not to forget the other cars, SUVs and trucks you posted - all these look mouth-watering and all around perfect! :)

Ladies and gentlesims, we have a winner! :golly: The roofs look great now, and I think you did a very good job on the weathering, too.

You know what, once I'm nagging you, I might as well continue with the side windows. Your passenger cars and SUVs have pretty good and realistic windows (they do a great job at creating the illusion that you can vaguely see an interior), but the side windows of your buses seem to be all solid black. This may be aggravated by the bright colour scheme of the buses, which makes everything dark look even darker due to the contrast. Have you tried applying a texture with some distorted / garbled shapes and slight colour variations to hint at an interior we cannot really see? Just to make this clear, I'd take these buses as they are, and with great pleasure! :) I'm just wondering if they might get even better.
