So that's the 1x1, 2x2 and 3x3 (or Small, Medium and Large) Maxis Parks done... honestly you would not believe how much work it has been to replace trees on just three lots.

The basic problem is matching the size of trees in the family to those of the families Maxis used, otherwise you get collisions. I still need to do some tweaking here, but probably with the families, some trees need to be shifted to ensure the sizes are more similar. I imagine as I use these families more, I'll be doing a lot of such tweaking until things feel right.

Then there was dealing with those pesky AdHoc prop families, actually I've just re-used the same when switching to flora, but here's something you may not have known. Maxis would add say 4 different Prop Families into an AdHoc Prop Family - yes it's Prop Fami-ception. So for a given spot, one of up to 4 Prop Families will be randomly selected between, with one item from that chosen at random to appear. Just as with the original Maxis lots, in many spots either a Tree or a Shrub/Bush etc can appear (usually a 50/50 chance). For example the small park can have between 0 and 2 trees, the medium between 0 and 4 trees. This all serves to create a good sense of randomisation to the feel of the park, rather than simply having different trees, there will be different numbers in different places. It's a neat effect overall and if you plop down a bunch of the regular ones, you'll get similar results to what I'm now getting with the Seasonal trees. 

It's great that we can keep all this randomisation, I still find the Maxis Parks very useful and kitted out with TGN Grass overrides and Random Seasonal Flora, I'll feel much happier when I do use them now. My first attempt using Seasonal Props and no families was OK, but they lacked the variation that this new method is able to retain. Plus don't forget, you can control which trees are part of these groupings too if you want to.

Lastly, you might be asking how did I combine a Prop Family with a Flora Family?, well it's a fair question and the answer is I didn't. In those instances where either a small bit of Flora or a Tree can be selected, currently the former are linked to a placeholder Flora Family. Because you can't mix/match Prop and Flora families as an AdHoc family, to keep the other bushes etc., I need to convert the 15 Props to Flora. Now of course I could just keep the old Maxis models and alter the Exemplars accordingly, but where is the fun in that! The idea occurred, since I'm going to all this effort, let's switch as many of these to HD Flora as I can. Girafe has made some excellent models like feather grass, lupins & bushes, some other stuff by VIP, Chrisadams (pasture flora) and perhaps CP too should do the trick. So at some point the plan is to add those also, but the lots are ready to make use of whatever non-tree Flora I eventually end up with.

I've been re-lotting some of those delightful PEG waterfront classics, inspired by those Heretic relots. This is for the administrative  zone of this suburban tile, which is by the City reservoir. 
As you can see in the bottom left corner I like to make my own tile specific rewards, replacing some of the generic ones. I'm not a big fan of zoos and they certainly wouldn't exist in my city so using the same stats I've made something else. 
'Remixing' other people's content is about the limit of my modding ability right now, at least until those stupid LLMs deliver on their promise

All you need to do is create a substitute texture with the same ID as the one you want it to replace, then make sure it loads after the original. This is the core of what TGN does, but there are so many textures out there, I've only got so far with covering third party packs. If you do this where one texture replaces what were many slightly different textures, you also quickly loose the variation that might otherwise be there.

turns out you're right, i have your override mod (amazing mod btw) and basically all the grass textures i have match with my terrain mod (sudden valley)
these lots i posted have overlay texture with these standard kind of grass, and not base texture (if that were the case, your mod would have changed it), so yeah, i know i can edit it one by one and etc, but ok, the difference between the grass of this mod and my terrain mod it's not that a big deal

and since i dont want to show much about it cause im planning on updating my CJ i will just leave a random (and boring) shot of a farm at the edge of that same town

Some cool car props are making it's way to Mega Prop Pack 4 which will coincide with the release of the office buildings I am doing. I am also resizing a bunch of cars from my first mega prop pack so those cars fit within SHK proportions.

Been busy with a great deal of "real life" stuff for the last few months and have found it difficult to work on the "Imperial Dockyards Series".

But I refuse to give up -- and "the work goes  on" in Cuxhaven and Bremerhaven.  I will try to post a few more pics from time to time.

The newest addition to the Hochseeflotte is SMS Elbing.  The light cruiser joined the fleet in 1915 and played an instrumental part in the Battle Of Jutland in 1916.  Her main armament is composed of 5.9-inch guns and she exhibits the typical design and layout developed by the Kaiserliche Marine.  Capable 0f 27.5 knots -- she was fast, nimble, and packed a nasty punch.  The dockside cranes are by @AP.  This highly detailed and handsome model is courtesy of @Barroco Hispano -- many thanks.

Still trying to pin down the trigger so I can resurrect something of my plans, but if I have to switch to Props then it won't likely include this level of random tree coverage.

Some positive news, adding my Street T21s in this city has caused none of the disabled props I was seeing before. Although I have to see if this remains the case, I am hopeful all this effort won't be for nothing.

When you absolutely refuse to do things differently, there is only one solution, add some RUL code:

I'm going to look into a few similar situations where it would be preferable to have the junctions fit in a smaller footprint. This fix was 4 lines of code and by my standards pretty quick to realise.

Here is my most recent town called Rockwood.
It is located in the southwest of the Aberdeen agglomeration and is a popular place of residence for many Sims. In recent years, the population has grown steadily, as a lot of residential areas have been built.

The large round building on the lower left is a branch of the Apple company.

This is the 298 meter high Sutro Tower, a large radio tower. A park-like forest is to be created around the tower.

This is a momentary deviation from Beringia, but: A minor but illustrative snippet of the port of Acua, Democratic Republic of Formosa, Africa. This mainly serves as a proof-of-concept for lotting Linus van Pelt's beautiful diagonal and orthogonal crane props and pairing them with the right seawalls to approximate a diagonal seaport. If I can convert a couple of purchased freighter models and import them, it may be possible to set up very simple cosmetic diagonal ports.

Btw is there anything I should know before trying to render something this large? I figure merge it into a new file first and if it doesn't work I'm constructing it so I can cut floors out if need be, but if there's anything else plz let me know...
