Ok, whenever you are working on something, post it here so you can get advice on how to improve it. You shouldn't run off to upload things without first asking for opinions here.

I hope this leads to your benefit and improvement as a BATer,

-Todd

Use 'UWV Mapping' so you can map the textures correctly. As a side note, follow phillipbo's BAT tutorial on the Omnibus since its an easy tutorial to learn BATTing as it contains everything you need to make a BAT. Aside from that, one square at the closest possible zoom is 1 metre. Along with that, you will evantually learn and make great buildings by just trial and error, we will give you advice on your BATs' problems, errors and how to fix them. Hope this helps.

Erf... You shouldn't have released it so soon. It's nowhere near finished... Sure, the roof is better but the windows and doors are largely out of scale and the texture on the windows leaves a bit to be desired. I've told various others before that rushing out projects isn't the way to go, especially if you're looking for high ratings and kind comments. I feel you have potential, you just hve to slow down and put more time into things.

Meaning all the best,

Faded Glory

Hey the improvement on your BAT's is great! what you should do is ask for opinion wait for the feedback and then upload 2.gif ,because there i read the thread and hop! it's on the stex, so try and do that next time

otherwise good improvement keep up the work

The building Needs A lot more work textures, details Waiting to upload

would have been the better way to go.

The lot is a litte too big, however it is nicely done.

Really, you must let your project soak in advice for at least a few days before you run to the STEX. One positive comment is not grounds to say it is perfect. When I'm working on something, I like to wait for people to tell me that my building needs a lot of work and tell me where to improve it. If someone tells me that something is wrong, I can fix it. If everyone only ever said "Looks good" then no one would ever improve! I certainly wouldn't have gotten as "good" as I am without people pointing out flaws in my models. You need to listen to the advice coming to you and actually DO something with that advice.

I'm looking forward to your next project, but please spend some more time on it.

This is Soda Billboard Pack Vol. 2. I looked at billboards and made these more realistic. This Includes Pepsi, Pepsi MAX, Coca-Cola Zero, Sierra Mist, Grape Fanta, & Orange Fanta. No dependencies.

You need a little more than three simple objects to make a billboard. Yes, the images are more reasonable, but the modeling is not.

Look at REAL billboards and inspect all of the components that make up the whole thing. Then, back in gmax, replicate all of those details.

One thing I like is the fact the the Ads are nice HD and crisp. Maybe add a ladder so that the men can go up and change the ad?

    Good luck!

    Nice Billboards you are improving.5.gif

I agree with what nathan wrote adding a ladder for the workers to

get up there would make it more realistic.

Try & work on a better texture for the base, maybe something metal.

Also include a picture of the back so we can see how you did the

    supports for the Billboard.

Well, the supports are under because it looks the same on the other side and for the ladder there is no ladder because they use a lift so that little punk sims won't climb it (the ladder)

and graffetti it. the texture is concrete for sturdy support

Could you show us a picture of the billboard you are working from then? If you can state so definitely what is and what is not there in reality then you must have a reference.

That being said, you are going to need more than 3 object in this model. For example, something to hide the top and sides of the "image", since I can see the squished texture on the sides from the UVW map (or lack thereof).

So pretty much you giving excuses to justify why you won't try to make it better, I mean I am going to be blunt but your work so far is nothing special and your attitude is not better.

Maybe a lack of skills perphaps? Phillipbo's tutorial would help, its a must do for all BATters before they even start BATting. Failing to do it is nearly impossible but once done you will only need detailed/complex help. [Edited - I don't think that your last comment (which I deleted with this edit) was really appropriate. It's ok to point out things that can be improved, but try not to sound derogatory, ok? ~ T Wrecks, moderator]

Well that's true they would vandalize it.Maybe a better concrete texture with a grain.

Maybe add a frame around it to cover up the bad UVW Mapping on the top & sides.

As the saying goes, a picture can speak a thousand words, so post a picture here of your modifications. I think the boards look OK, but just OK. The beams look too thick from that last preview. It also looks too simple, maybe you could add some supports to the back of the display itself and some access to the display (a ladder half way up the main beam for example).

Your first buildings weren't very good.  Your billboards are a big improvement over the previous buildings, but I don't think they're good enough that people would want to download them.  That's ok though, you have to start somewhere, and like anything else, with more practice you'll be able to make really nice things, but in the meantime I'd save youself the trouble of uploading them, because they won't be well recieved.  It doesn't mean you shouldn't make them, but just because you make something doesn't mean you need to upload it.

I don't remember when exactly I started BATing, but I think it was late fall of 2004.  I think I started about 7 buildings within a few months.  Then somehow I ended up really focusing on one, and I finished and uploaded it in March of 2005, which would have been about 5 months after I started BATing, and a month or two of focusing on that specific building.  It wasn't super great, but it was ok and it was good enough to upload at the time.

Then I started another batch of buildings and worked on some of the previous buildings, and I finished and uploaded them starting in early fall, through winter 2006.  This was about a year to 6 months after starting them.

By that time I knew how to BAT and was able to finish things more steadily (I think I was able to average about 1 upload a month, but each BAT individually took about 6 months), but it until then I was just fumbling along, working on things until they were good.  And after seeing so many new BATers on this forum over the years, most people pick it up a lot faster than I did, so this is like the slowest case possible.

Anyway I forget where I was going with this, but I think the point was that these things take time and you're going to suck for a while, but after some time you'll get good, so keep it up.  1.gif

Jasoncw didn't mention about tutorials though I'd mention about doing a tutorial, this will improve your skill without needing us to help you, the tutorial I mention comes from the Omnibus. Try them all(except the 'Simple House' tutorial, its genuinely helpless as you don't get much help from it).
