Hard to say, its a toss up. I have many of your wonderful ship but have not had to opportunity yet to use them. So I am not the best to give an opinion. But, keeping them true to their nature or making them a little more flexible is up to the creator.
To me its a small feature, something that could be explained with a story or so, for the reasoning in using said item.
And then their is the war side of things. How do you tell your friends from the ermines. *:D

Maybe if a ship is one that is used by many different countries, those are ones I would leave the flag off.

Just throw a pirate flag on it *:8) We don't need no stinking country!!! LOL

EDIT: Makes me wonder if there is a SimNation flag. **:read:

YES -- there is a flag somewhere -- but I haven't a clue......

Personally -- a flag is an essential item -- I never leave port without one.  What's on your flagstaff?  *

In Italy, for thirty years under the Borgias, they had warfare, terror, murder, and bloodshed.  But they produced Michael Angelo, Leonardo Da Vinci, and The Renaissance.

In Switzerland, they had brotherly love and five hundred years of peace.  And what did that produce?

I like that new look. I was doing worse than you before with my coast line (full trees+shrubs and cattails from Girafe) but I've recently used that same tutorial to make the shoreline prettier.

Nice improvement. The sand dunes look really good, you can see their contours now. My first thought is you went a little heavy with the MMP's in the water.

Absolutely essential to include a flag. To @Kloudkicker’s point didn’t some of SNM stuff include a Sim Nation flag?  Not sure; I would have to check when I’m back at the computer.  Or just have fun with it. Pirate flag or some fallen empire.  I would say toss the Guam flag on there, but save that for if you do a proa *:8)

As far as I remember this is exactly why Peg made the One Flag,Many Nations (OFMN) mod. That way peeps can choose for themselves.

Yo, guys --

I need several opinions on something.

I wanted to replace the gray-colored slopes of my terrain Mod with something different along the coast line.  I tried experimenting with the sand dune tutorial by @MissVanleider and this is what I came up with.  Please let me know if you think it's good -- bad -- too many MMP's -- too few -- whatever your thoughts, they would be most welcome.

This is my usual coastal zone......

This is the "new look" --

I think this is a really nice job, by far the hardest thing about dealing with the dunes is where they meet the 'terrain grass' and i think you've done an excellent job of hiding the transition.

You've also captured the elevation change very well, which is something that was lacking from my tutorial.

Ultimately its always going to be a bit of a battle between the most realistic and what looks best in SC4. I wouldn't like to see you move totally away from your signature style and i think that a little variety leaves room for both approaches, and for further experiments! Bravo

@MissVanleider

THANK YOU so much for the kind words and comments.

It was very difficult to preserve the natural highlight of the terrain and slopes provided by the MOD.  Too many MMP's and the visual illusion of the slope will disappear.  But a relatively few MMP's, placed in just the right spots, will enhance the elevation effects.  The trick is to manage to get them in the right spot without cluttering up the scenery.

And I'm glad you liked the way I meshed the forest with the top of the slopes.  That coincided neatly with my "signature style".  I'm still a bit uneasy with the transition from the lower level into the actual "beach zone" along the water.  I'm going to reduce the underwater MMP's as suggested by @Kloudkicker and keep working in that zone.  I'm also a bit uneasy with the "random" MMP vegetation -- I think they are too evenly placed.  I may eliminate some of them and go for a more "sparse" look overall.

AND THANX to everyone for their feedback.  This has made up my mind that I have found a reliable alternative coastal style, as well as an idea that can be randomly used inland as well!

Tomorrow I will publish it, I only need to export the real world scale version (Yes, I will take the trouble to export a real world scale version of the ships but nothing else).

Do you think it is necessary to put the flag on the warships? sometimes you like a warship and not the flag or vice versa.

Flag or no flag, just release it...NOW! *:D

It's ... amazing to FINALLY having this.
Since day one on the game I was wondering if there was a way to give light to a park, mountain trail or even a more deep rural part...
And now... here it is.
I have said this before, but I'll say it again...
THANK YOU *:thumb:

Another post in the 'can't find it' thread asked for some functional streetlights/lampposts that could be placed freely. There's not a huge amount of options in this area and the ones that do exist are more suitable for roads/highways, etc, so I made a couple of lots with a transparent base and that can have MMPs right to the base.

This way, you can make MMP parks, trails, forest walks etc that are illuminated

The lots are completely neutral/slope tolerant, etc.
