@DavidDHetzel regarding the wind turbine manufacturing plant. That's not a bad idea. I have already initiated a Gmax folder named "Wind Turbine Project". Half full already.

Thanks

Simmer2

I was actually going to ask that very question over on SC4Devotion. A turbine manufacturing/assembly facility would be awesome.

Something like an assembly site for off-shore turbine is actually rather plain but would be superb to have in-game for a large logistics port. There's one in Belfast and it's just literally lots of parts waiting for assembly and shipping. The manufacturing element may be more complicated in terms of time but if the various turbine parts were props an assembly site could be created and tailored by each player in-game.

@BelfastsocratesI was thinking something more in line with a rail distribution siding included. Simpler.

I have already created 2 buildings (One large and one small)  and also several wind turbine parts props.

After I clear my to do list ofc..*:D

Something like this...

That would work well also. Could place it on the coast and get dual purpose. I could use existing quay pieces and maybe lot edit slightly.

Lots of work !!! (And now that you've broken that new ground, I perhaps will be tempted at some point to do the same -- I'll know in what direction to cry for help *:).

A minor point : having the street come up to the fire station is good, but the access seems a bit cramped with the parking there ; what if they have to go that way in a hurry ?

I completed Stanley Park a long, long time ago, honestly I could probably spend some time rebuilding it and making it a bit better.

Thanks!

I asked because the few times I went to Vancouver I fell in love with the terraced beaches that go down to the water and I walked endlessly along the paths...*:)

Only 2 or 3 things that I would find important to change.  At the north end of the park there is only one bridge called the Lion's Gate bridge, it is a suspension bridge similar to the design of the Golden Gate bridge in San Francisco.  The large body of water inside the park is called Lost Lagoon, its a bit smaller, and there is a 2nd smaller lake called Beaver Lake.  I'm enjoying your interpretation of Vancouver.  The cities of the North Pacific West Coast are similar in many ways as part of the biogeographic region we call Cascadia.  *:thumb:

surely everyone's just missed it, right?

I'm glad I found it now that you mentioned it.  The Acacia tree blends really well with the HD terrain.  I usually find the autumn colors in the seasonal(s) a bit blotchy and over-saturated, but this one is well-balanced and formed. Thanks.

It's in the linked topic, the attached *.zip file. There is no other "official" upload yet.

Yo --

If you want MGB to receive a notification of your query, you have to make sure it gets one of those blue-thingies that earmark the message for his attention --

Steel ladder up side of concrete foundation leading to access hatch at bottom of trunk so the maintenance team can climb up to the turbine ?

Just a thought, my friend.

@Dreadnought Already working on a newer version.

@tariely Its called perspective. The game uses an isometric system to display the model by assembling a set of pictures taken during the rendering process. In other words what you see is not really a 3D model. What I should have done is to increase the Z axis by 33% to offset the issue.

By the way the tower is 68 meters (223 feet) tall at the nose and the blades are 42 meters (137 feet).  Plenty of room for the blades. This one roughly depicts the biggest wind turbine in the world.

The upcoming update will have the 33% Z rule applied.

Ah, good to hear that an update is in the works. I left a STEX comment before I saw that the topic had already been discussed here.

Well, your numbers amount to a hub height of ~70 meters (tower + gondola height) and a rotor diameter of ~85 meters (blades + hub). This should indeed play out better than it looks, so fixing the Z-axis should do the trick. Do you include that concrete box at the bottom in the tower height, by the way?

Once I'm at it, I might add that the numbers I mentioned in the STEX comment come straight from an Enercon catalogue and represent the "stubbiest" proportions I could find in that catalog. In any case, it looks like the bigger the WPP gets, the closer the blade length comes to hub height. Maybe that's because, in absolute numbers, the gap between the lower end of the rotor diameter and ground level is sufficiently big already.

Looking forward to V2.0 because that model is sweet!
