I see you've used the automated sidewalk mod from MGB204. But how did you get the pylons to appear for the trams?

I think it comes with the NAM. It's totally at the end of the transport menu in the game.

this was supposed to be the fist completed city in my region and the first city for my hopefully upcoming CJ. But I left the city in Zoom one when I saved it last and loading up the city causes it to crash instantly.
:(

So Now I am rebuilding for a THIRD TIME!

This is damned good work!!!

You have gone to a lot of trouble -- even to the point of trying to match individual buildings to one another.

Looks really good!

WIP Dam.

qEcTGei.jpg

I scratched my head as I wondered how to deal with the sides of the dam.

Then I realised- MMP the sides.

Much work needs to be done to finish off the river and the power generating part of the hydroelectric dam.

Dear sir/madam/whoever will read this!

This profile is now defunct.

Computer problems and issues with accessing my Imageshack account meant My SC4 CJ Scrapbook was lost and utterly irretrievable. This setback put me off SC4 for many months.

Apologies for the inconvenience and for the lost pictures.

But that SC4 itch did not go away and it had to be scratched! I have started afresh with a new account here- The British Sausage

The URS is a spiritual successor to the SC4 CJ Scrapbook.

With this update this will be the last time I visit my original Simtropolis account- admin/mods feel free to remove it or do whatever you need to do. I have no further use for the Ln X (BLANKBLANK) account.

You're very welcome - it's the most rewarding feeling that I can get from my SC4 lotting activities when I see that my stuff is actually being used (and enjoyed) by players and CJers! :)

It's really a pity there are not that many lotters left, because as it seems even the most humble fillers are still useful, even after years of custom content creation.

You are too humble, sir.  Your fillers are (IMHO) crucial to the detailing required for realism.  They are an inspiration for those creating custom fillers for their own games, as well.  I may be a "newbie" -- but I know what looks good.  And your contributions are spread all over my maps!

Thank you for your work!

Yo, MushyMushy --

I'm still learning how to handle the Nam32 puzzle pieces (I assume that's what he's using).

Could you give me a VERY brief explanation of how he got a bridge without water under it??

Generally, I don't know one puzzle piece from another.

His bridge looks great -- I would like to be able to do that.

Obviously I'm not playing that city, but looking at it, LnX hasn't used a Maxis bridge at all. That will be a eye-candy bridge, with the ground raised. For the bridge just search google for simcity 4 eye canny bridges and I'm sure you'll find some on the STEX or the LEX.

After this, you'd probably use MMP water to create the river.

Hope this helps.

Yo, guy --

I've got the MMP water, no problem.  I've even worked out a way to get a Maxis bridge across an MMP river.  His way may be easier.

But -- I'm afraid I made the assumption that the bridge was fully FUNCTIONAL.

I've found in SC4, the more you focus on aesthetics, the less functionality you get.

But yeah, the bridge is an overhanging prop, found here

Yo, guys --

Thanks for the prompt reply.

I understand where you're coming from.

AND -- I can even understand the value of lotting an eye-candy coaling dock.  But I have not yet run into a situation where a road (or bridge) is strictly there for the looks.

As Mr. Spock said -- "It is not logical, Captain."

Thanx much, guys --

Merry Christmas !!

P.S.  Drop by my CJ to see the coaling dock I'm developing.

There is a way of creating functional land bridges. Use Teirusu's Rain tool and use it to fill up a tiny hollow in the ground which the bridge will go over. The rain tool creates terrain game water and so it enables the use of bridges to go across it. As an added bonus this water disappears when you return to a saved game.

Here is the mod- https://community.simtropolis.com/files/file/21531-teirusu-rain-tool-additional-god-mode-terrain-tools-2/.

And here is an example of the method in action.

zr22.jpg

The river is made up of MMP water, also MMPs can be plopped underneath the bridge.

Yo, Ln X --

Thanx VERY much for the link to the Rain Tool.

This will make it much easier for me to place bridges -- in a wide variety of places.  I've always thought we were missing out on "bridged ravines" as opposed to water obstacles.

Your link will be MOST helpful.

Merry Christmas !!

I released such a non-functioning bridge myself recently. They really don't work well as functional bridges, you certainly couldn't make it an overhanging lot if you did that. Then there is the height of the paths, to consider too. I think such bridges I would generally confine to non-functioning walkways myself.

I find some people want everything to be functioning, but in reality what does that really mean? So long as your sims can find another way to get places, things only have to look right, I don't get into other considerations all that often.

Head over to my Lot and Mod Shack to keep abreast of my latest developments.

Do you like custom textures, but don't like all the work involved creating them?, take a look at the Texture Automation options here. Change the look and feel of your transit networks, with the minimum of effort, for example customised versions of my Sidewalk NAM (SWN) and Terrain Grass NAM (TGN) mods, and much more besides.

New to the NAM? Check out my tutorials on YouTube. Latest upload: How to: RHW - MHO Roundabout Interchanges. (Nov 25).

p.s. - I'm MGB over on SC4D and a member of the NAM team.
