About This File

Overview:
This is the second set of my MEH Office Park series focused exclusively on medium wealth buildings. This is a larger package encompassing 3 building types: 2 of the buildings have 8 different lot layouts between them while the last one has two. This makes for a grand total of 18 different office lots.

Building Stats:
LaVine Office Park (LaVine Management) (2x/3x/4x)
2x Capacity: 369 CO$$ jobs
3x Capacity: 553 CO$$ jobs

4x Capacity: 736 CO$$ jobs
Houston Tileset

Calamity Office Park (Chuck Calamity Info. Center) (2x/3x/4x)
2x Capacity: 327 CO$$ jobs
3x Capacity: 490 CO$$ jobs

4x Capacity: 652 CO$$ jobs
Euro Tileset

Downend Office Park (Downend Entertainment) (3x/4x)

3x Capacity: 206 CO$$ jobs

4x Capacity: 310 CO$$ jobs
Houston Tileset

All buildings can grow starting at Low Density and have basic BTE tracking enabled.

Possible Lot Configurations/Stages

LaVine/Calamity
2 Buildings: 3x5, 5x4 (Stage 4, LC and RC)

3 Buildings: 6x5, 3x9, 3x9 (Stage 4, Front, LC and RC)

4 Buildings: 6x6, 3x9, 3x9 (Stage 4/5, RC, RC and LC)

Downend

3 Buildings: 3x5 (Stage 4, LC)

4 Buildings: 5x5 (Stage 4, RC)

As with before, the lots are designed to complement vanilla/Maxis SC4 and as such require no external dependencies other than Maxis Buildings as Props (bldgprop_vol1 and vol2). I HIGHLY recommend using TWrecks' Maxis Prop Names and Query Fix as a substitute. Enjoy, and make sure to zone responsibly! Excessive repetition complaints will be redirected to Simnation's construction bureau.

Whoa, you're on a roll, eh? As usual, you're doing a great job with Maxis stuff! :golly:

I wonder, though, if it would make sense to take advantage of some dependencies to make those Maxis buildings shine. I mean, most Maxis buildings aren't too shabby, but I'm not too crazy about most Maxis lots. Looking at these large office complexes, you certainly made good use of those limited default resources, but not surprisingly, the final result doesn't look all that different from a bunch of conventional Maxis lots grown next to another. Then again, I guess many people will appreciate the fact that they can now have larger office parks practically without dependencies, so you can probably ignore my rambling. ;)

Regarding the use of custom props, I'm a big proponent of doing more with less and totally on board with your original ideology. My first concern is dressing up these lots would cause them to clash with standard Maxis stuff. It's also easy to get bogged down in the dizzying amount of custom props and possible arrangements. I feel leaving them out of the equation will help you focus more on the broader zoning and configuration gaps left by Maxis.

still can't get the original pack to grow. Oh well- guess it will at some point. Thats why I am a firm believer in plops. Great job though.

I totally agree with TWrecks. The lots look fantastic. However, IMHO they are severely diminished by the Maxis parking lots. I am sure you could make do with only one dependency for the parking lots (eg BSC Mega Textures Vol 1), which is probably the most downloaded texture pack anyways. I think that will go a LONG way improving the aesthetics of your lots. I don't know if that is enough to knock it down to a 4/5 ... probably not.    5/5 it is then.

"...I am sure you could make do with only one dependency for the parking lots..."

You can achieve the same end using Magneto's "Maxis Parkings Override" while avoiding the dependency and maintaining a consistent look.

Thanks for the comments everyone! I'll admit, I personally play with parking/tree overrides so default textures are pretty much a non-issue. But yeah, I will definitely consider loading up on the nicer textures. I'm not quite done with the series and chances are enhanced (double enhanced? :P) versions will come out sometime soon!
