Hello, I'd like to know how to make my game run more smoothly. I recently downloaded 8GB of mods, and I've noticed that it slows down when the camera is at a higher level, the cars move strangely (lag), and the buildings grow slowly even at maximum speed. The cursor is also slow. I've also noticed some graphical bugs, such as some buildings appearing dark and the ground simply not loading in industrial areas (usually in those chimney-like buildings). I downloaded this mod because I really liked the DoorMysh series on YouTube and I'd like to create cities similar to those. I also know that many of these mods are outdated, one of them being the NAM version, but I don't mind because I don't want to give up the huge library I have and also avoid the headache of having to search for dependencies or mods when I can simply download the whole package. The big problem is that this 8GB package comes with all the files together, including props, BSDs, etc., making it very difficult and tedious to separate each one to compress everything into smaller DAT files using a Datpacker program. Remember, we're talking about more than 400 files to separate into folders So I'd like to ask for your help and ask how I can organize all this without crashing the game and improve its performance. I've read Datpacker 2008 should work with Windows 10, and people have definitely used it on Windows 10. Does anyone know if this has changed at some point? I've installed everything I can think of to make it work (The DLL's, .Net 1.1, ect), comp modes, running as admin, ect, but I keep getting the same error, the log says; Thanks.

I recently returned to SC4 after being away for a number of years, and I went back to my old game files and attempted to DatPack my current file set the same way I had in the past. Unfortunately, my plugins had grown substantially since I last DatPacked them, and my old layout no longer worked at all. I kept getting "out of memory" errors, and then of course, DatPacker would quit. If it keeps running out of memory, then I thought, why not apply the 4 GB patch to it - the same patch that fixes memory problems in SC4 itself. So I applied the 4 GB patch and sure enough, I can now DatPack essentially any number of files of any size. As a test, I DatPacked my entire 5.2 GB collection into three files, two of which were more than 2 GB size after compression. This worked fine. Then I went back to the strategy of using more numerous files, as this allows me to change just a small part of my Plugins_Compressed folder if I just need to make small changes to my plugins. If you're using the current version of the NAM (NAM 42) or later, you can find the 4 GB patch in the top-level group of files you extract when preparing to install the NAM. The file is called "4gb_patch.exe", and if you just run it on its own, it will ask you for an executable file name, and in this way you can use it to double the memory access of any 32-bit executable. In the case of DatPacker, you would go to your SC4DatPacker folder and select the file "SC4DatPacker.exe". A backup file is automatically created. If you're not running the NAM, you can just download the 4GB Patch directly. For further details on virtually all aspects of DatPacker use, please see the subforum dedicated to the DatPacker: BSC NHP DatPacker.

Struggling to get this program working so I can use CAM. I am a totally newbie and don't know anything really about modding besides following instructions. This is the message I get: See the logfile 'C:\Program Files (x86)\SC4DatPacker2008\SC4DatPacker.exe.log' for details I have already copied and pasted the 3 DLLs to my C:\Windows\System subfolder.

I recently got the DatPacker because I wanted to try CAM. Although I appreciate the decrease in loading time, I don't find the DatPacker super convenient as I like to tinker with my Plugins folder and add, remove or rename lots. I also don't keep a ton of content in my Plugins if I'm not using it at the moment. I'm wondering how other players manage this, do you just keep re-packing your folder?

How to Install SC4DatPacker 2008 / CAM, the SysWOW64 Way!
Leo -- posted a topic in SC4 Modding - Open Discussion
You probably know if you try to install CAM on windows 10 SC4DatPacker 2008 will crash during setup. This is caused by missing libraries for 32-bit apps in the SysWOW64 folder. So if we put the required .dll s in the SysWOW folder SC4DatPacker, SC4 Mapper, and SC4TerraFormer (SC4TerraFormer might need more dlls to work read its readme) should work. Step 1 : Get The dlls Step 1a :Get MFC71.DLL https://www.dll-files.com/mfc71.dll.html Step 1b :Get MSVCR71.dll https://www.dll-files.com/msvcr71.dll.html Step 1c :Get GDIPLUS.DLL https://www.dll-files.com/gdiplus.dll.html (Note : my system already had this file so you might not need to download it) Step 2 :Unzip the dll s and place it in the root of C:\Windows\SysWOW64 Step 3 :Reboot Step 4 Run the CAM installer and enjoy I am not responsible if something goes wrong. This Tutorial only applies of 64-bit versions of windows 10 -
Hey folks, Got a far out question. I'm working on revamping my plugin folder. The question: Is it better to just dump everything into the plugins or to put everything in a separate folder? I ask for speed of loading not housekeeping reasons. I'm not sure as to the inner workings of SC4 so I really don't know. I have in the past put all in separate folders for obvious reasons but now I'm wondering if SC4 would load faster with all in plugins or in subfolders or if it really matters when it comes to speed of loading? Errors and issues when installing CAM [Solved]
Thorx21 posted a topic in SC4 Bugs & Technical Issues
I'm trying to install the Colossus addon mod for the first time in my life. I'm running on Windows 10 x64. I'm in possession of a Ubuntu Xenial xerus partition also with which I could run this game in Wine in case the issue is OS compatibility. I get this when installing CAM. Should there be a third window besides the Setup that the notepad window calls "SC4 Dat packer" It isn't there, I don't know what it is asking of me. All I could do is close the notepad window with my fingers crossed and then this happened. Log file is on the left. Apparently I miss a DLL file. Right? It would be handy if the log file could inform me what DLL file was missing. Anyhow, what do I need to solve this matter? Many thanks in advance... EDIT: This dood seems to have the exact same copy of my problem. He said he got it fixed but wasn't bothered to tell the rest of the world how he did it, what a shame. Anyway, I donwloaded the 3 DLL files. I don't have DAT packer installed because CAM didn't listed it as a dependency. Do I need Datpacker for CAM to install? I just installed it and dropped the DLL files into the Datpacker folder because it to failed to launch for which I had to download those 3 mentioned DLL files in the topic here under. But the CAM installation still gives the same errors. And I don't know how to fix it. -

DATpacker found damaged exemplars, how to repair them?
matias93 posted a topic in SC4 Bugs & Technical Issues
When packing my plugins folder (after three long weeks of boring full reinstalling), DATpacker found a series of errors with exemplars. I can recognize some of the fields and values, and think I can found where to repair them using the Reader or SC4Tool, but I have no idea of what the values should be. I tried downloading the original files, thinking an internet glitch could have corrupted them, but no avail, they keep flagging as damaged when packing. Strangely enough, if I let the files unpacked, they appear in the game and are usable. What restricts me from using this option is that the past year I did so and one of the affected buildings corrupted an entire city tile with unreal NIMBY effects, so my options now are to repair them knowingly or to simply discard them. Specifically, the affected files are: Buzzit German pylon set v.1.0 (all files), Buzzit Tubular Pole Set (all files), Ceafus CVFD Rural Firestation, Dusktrooper Keaton Plaza, BSP Davidson Block, Jasoncw Sundry Building, Simcity4ie Connolly Hall, and Simcity4ie Nationale Suisse This is the error message: Thanks for your help!! -
DATPacker and JDATPacker on Windows 10 [SOLVED]
LironTheChick posted a topic in SC4 Modding - Open Discussion
Hi Y'all! Yes, I have returned and I'm pretty much a grandmum now in ST terms. So as y'all have known a lot of things have changed since the last time I was active here (2012ish) and you pretty much get Win 10 when purchasing new computers. Anyway, I'm having issues using both DATPacker and JDATPacker and I'm not sure if it got anything to do with Windows 10 or not. I'm trying to install CAM and installation failed so I opted for the manual process which failed as well because I cannot seem to use datpacker and jdatpacker. For datpacker, it just gives me a dialogue box saying that a log file has been created. For jdatpacker, it finishes 'datpacking' but it actually didn't do anything at all. Sim_City1.dat and the other .dat file are still separate and not packed. Ya know what I mean? I've never had these issues before using older operating systems and I seriously won't take "get a new OS" or "downgrade to an older OS" as answers. Thanks in advance for those who will help. Mfc71.dll is missing (required for SC4DatPacker); does not work in W7 64 bit
crishy posted a topic in SC4 Bugs & Technical Issues
As per title, SC4DatPacker requires Mfc71.dll. The tool's readme provided a link where I could download it. Problem is, I use Windows 7 64 bit version, and it appears that the dll (which is 32 bit) does not work in my version of Windows. I attempted to register the dll (regsvr32 <filename>) both in the System32 and SysWOW64 folders. Any input would be appreciated. As of now I cannot datpack newer files, and worse, unpack older packs, making changes involving replacing or removing older files much more inconvenient, to say the least.
