I recently switched from mac os to windows (windows 10 64bit via bootcamp) and now datpacking is making trouble, jdatpacker skips a lot of files announcing these errors: FILE IGNORED: C:\Users\rs\Desktop\JDat packen\JS_Greenhouse plp cs TE\._JS_Greenhouse.dat REASON: File is not a DBPF formatted file according to magic number: C:\Users\rs\Desktop\JDat packen\JS_Greenhouse plp cs TE\._JS_Greenhouse.dat FILE IGNORED: C:\Users\rs\Desktop\JDat packen\JS_Greenhouse plp cs TE\._JS_4x3_Agriculture_Greenhouses_3920b920.SC4Lot REASON: File is not a DBPF formatted file according to magic number: C:\Users\rs\Desktop\JDat packen\JS_Greenhouse plp cs TE\._JS_4x3_Agriculture_Greenhouses_3920b920.SC4Lot Does anybody have an idea?

Going from App Store Version to Steam: now may not be necessary! (read second post)
mizmayor posted a topic in SC4 Mac Users
hello! I've been away from the game for a lot of years. Played SimCity, in one form or another, for a very long time on Windows (starting with Win3.1), In 2015 I switched to Mac, and although I did start playing SimCity 4/RushHour on it, I think I got discouraged by the plug-in file limit on the App Store/Aspyre version, and just sorta gave up, I guess. Got a new MBP, M4 last month, and have really enjoyed getting familiar with the game again. But am extremely frustrated with the plug-in file limit, and the means of getting around it. I tried JDatPacker. At first couldn't get it started, had to learn how to override the OS's cautions about not trusting the source/program. Finally got it to TRY and do something. But, it turns out, I had to now install Java8. ok. did that. and now that won't even work, it seems it has run up against a "CodeCache is full' error, and has disabled itself. I tried researching what that is and how to deal with it. But everything I've found is just too far over my head to even begin to understand. I just want to play what has been my favorite game for nearly 30 years. Not learn how to be a programmer. It is my understanding that the Steam version does not have this limit. So what are the pitfalls of the Steam version? Do I have to uninstall the AppStore/Aspyre version before installing? I imagine I can just copy the plug-in folder contents I've been accumulating over the last few weeks into the new location for the Steam installation. BTW, I've really enjoyed reading everything on Simtropolis, and playing catchup. I was sorry to see some of my favorite content creators are no longer with us. Thanks for any insight anyone can provide. BTW, Steam has SC4 on sale until January 2. Ruth- 6 Replies

My companion plays on a Mac. I installed NAM36 on his Mac (completely forgetting I just had to slap my own folders in his plugins !!! But as he didn't want exactly what I have it was OK in the end, I guess.) As expected, we hit the plugins wall and will have to datpack the NAM. I downloaded JDatPacker but am always somewhat squeamish when using a new tool -- especially when said tool comes with a readme that is an electronic book (or at least DLs like one !) Should I use something else ? Whatever I use, are there special warnings, do's and don't's ? (I did take a little walk through forums ; my eyes are beginning to glaze over...)

DATPacker and JDATPacker on Windows 10 [SOLVED]
LironTheChick posted a topic in SC4 Modding - Open Discussion
Hi Y'all! Yes, I have returned and I'm pretty much a grandmum now in ST terms. So as y'all have known a lot of things have changed since the last time I was active here (2012ish) and you pretty much get Win 10 when purchasing new computers. Anyway, I'm having issues using both DATPacker and JDATPacker and I'm not sure if it got anything to do with Windows 10 or not. I'm trying to install CAM and installation failed so I opted for the manual process which failed as well because I cannot seem to use datpacker and jdatpacker. For datpacker, it just gives me a dialogue box saying that a log file has been created. For jdatpacker, it finishes 'datpacking' but it actually didn't do anything at all. Sim_City1.dat and the other .dat file are still separate and not packed. Ya know what I mean? I've never had these issues before using older operating systems and I seriously won't take "get a new OS" or "downgrade to an older OS" as answers. Thanks in advance for those who will help.
