An announcement - pardon our (excessive) dust
TheMurderousCricket posted a City Journal entry in SimCity: Tribalism
Dear Readers, Followers and Viewers, It looks like my CPU fan started to malfunction recently, making all sorts of ominous noises and ratling. At times, it was so loud that it almost felt as if I was working a table saw instead of a laptop... Needless to say, my equipment is currently undergoing repairs and so I need to take a (hopefully) short break from updating this CJ. I hope to see you all back again once my computer receives the highly-needed maintenance. Thank you for your interest, likes and voting contributions up to this point! Until we meet again!-

SM2 Train Depot South Yet another train repair yard for your maps. This one even repairs passenger coach railcars and provides jobs. It allows both passenger and freight trains to traverse it with no issues. Run a rail through it and also connect the street stub to your street network. This lot is not a freight yard. You will find it under the rail menu. Hello everyone. I present you with SM2 Heritage Roundhouse. In the past, rail roundhouses were extensively used all over North America as a repair facility for trains, specifically locomotives. They were designed with that characteristic roundish design in order to take less real estate when building a train repair facility. Coupled with a massive turntable, they greatly decreased a rail yard footprint. There are a few still in operation (very few) and they are mostly used to house old and retired locomotives donated by railway companies. Sort of like a museum for engines. Some have been converted into retail space while keeping the nostalgic feel of days gone past by displaying old engines and equipment on the front of the building. This lot represents months of preparations and lots of specific props making. Together with a detailed and realistic custom base texture, I tried to capture reality as much as possible. Vester's latest train engines prop pack fits this lot perfectly due to the many angles he released. Also with the usage of a clever trick, you are now able to pick different textures (companies liveries) from 5 different texture packs he released along the engine prop pack. Once you install vester's prop pack you must choose one of his texture colors in order for the locomotives to show properly. The lot is 14X14 and is designed to allow either freight and passenger trains to cross the DTR section at the bottom of the lot, the other rail exits/entries will only connect visually and so will the street stubs. Plop cost 45,000 Bulldoze cost 4,500 Power consumed 190 Water consumed 120 Maintenance cost 220/month It will also provide 34 jobs. You will find it under the rail menu. This lot makes use of an extensive array of timed props with multiple angle designs in order to achieve a sort of animation with HD props. There are also many other timed props so that the lot looks livelier throughout the day. Action starts at 7am and keeps going until 6pm (closing time) after that time the lot will look empty because everyone has gone home but for one person and one vehicle, the night security guard on the left lower rail hut area. From time to time you may see overlapping timed props, especially at the turntable sequence, this is due to game lag and depending on the speed of your processor you may or may not see it. Wait a few game days and it will correct itself. Dependency list. However you can choose any of the 5 he made. Lot custom texture and timed props exemplars are included. A big thank you goes to rivit for creating a single template for vester's out of the ordinary exemplars in order for me to make timed ones. Thank you Ron! Also, thank you vester for the engine prop pack and girafe for the ever beautiful trees and greenery models!! Enjoy Simmer2- 10 Reviews

DATpacker found damaged exemplars, how to repair them?
matias93 posted a topic in SC4 Bugs & Technical Issues
When packing my plugins folder (after three long weeks of boring full reinstalling), DATpacker found a series of errors with exemplars. I can recognize some of the fields and values, and think I can found where to repair them using the Reader or SC4Tool, but I have no idea of what the values should be. I tried downloading the original files, thinking an internet glitch could have corrupted them, but no avail, they keep flagging as damaged when packing. Strangely enough, if I let the files unpacked, they appear in the game and are usable. What restricts me from using this option is that the past year I did so and one of the affected buildings corrupted an entire city tile with unreal NIMBY effects, so my options now are to repair them knowingly or to simply discard them. Specifically, the affected files are: Buzzit German pylon set v.1.0 (all files), Buzzit Tubular Pole Set (all files), Ceafus CVFD Rural Firestation, Dusktrooper Keaton Plaza, BSP Davidson Block, Jasoncw Sundry Building, Simcity4ie Connolly Hall, and Simcity4ie Nationale Suisse This is the error message: Thanks for your help!! -
So, this past week I've been dealing with brake issues on my car (95 LTC, not that it matters). While stopped, my brake pedal sank about an inch then held firm. My first guess was: Low fluid. Checked it. Nope. So, Googling provided a plausible answer: Some seals inside the master cylinder were going bad that controlled something about the crossover for the independent something or others. Like opposite corner wheels are separated and if one goes low pressure the other kicks in better or something like that. Anyhow, what they described with the brake pedal action matched my experience. Hit it hard and it was fully firm to a full stop, but let off pressure and then back down and it'd sink that extra amount. And the just sitting stopped and suddenly it'd sink matched. So, to further complicate my life (and give me a frightful scare) a brake line broke sometime on the way home. (Might've been the only problem, but I didn't know this part till I put the new MC in.) I realized the problem a couple feet from the house. I didn't react fast enough for plan B. The house, however withstood the 3 ish mph impact with minor damage. The grill and whatever all the shroud around the lights and grill is called didn't fair so well. I bought a new master cylinder, a jug of Dot 3, and watched a how-to vid. All the bolts and connections involved are rusty. I sprayed them with WD 40 every couple hours for 3 days (except while sleeping or working) and wire brushed the exposed threads on the two big ones. I bench bled the thinger like the vid showed and then installed it. Today I finally gathered the other parts. So now it's time to deal with the brake line. The crack is on the one a bit above the other 4 and it goes to the block under the master cylinder. (Two lines from the MC go to the lower block too.) Anyhow, it goes up and does some loop-d-loops before it connects to said block. I've learned that's called a Tension Relief Coil. I've bought the brake line pipe, a bender tool, and a little pipe cutter. Tips I've learned via vids are to lubricate the curvy parts of the bender. (I have white lithium grease on hand, so that's prolly my best.) And to use stiff wire to mock up the path the real tube needs to go. Edit: Progress update. I've got the old one off to use as my guide. It has more twists and turns than an epileptic rattlesnake. Ok, not that bad, but still intimidating. I am fairly well mechanically inclined. Any tips y'all can think of that'd help me? Oh, and before you suggest I post on some car repair site for a quicker or better answer, please realize I'm ready to go at it with just what I feel I've learned. I'm posting here cause it's my new home and I was wondering if anyone here would care to comment.

I wasn't sure where else to put this, but I wanted to share it anyway as I recently went in and fixed my NES and figured, why not distribute this knowledge! now I won't even go into details why you shouldn't do this unless you know what you're doing, the primary reason being, you can make your console a paperweight if you aren't careful. with that out of the way let's begin. first here's the tools you need. A long phillips screw driver A pair of pliers a pair of tweezers a multimeter Optional: helping hands with magnifying glass for more detailed repairs (Experts only) ok first let's have a look at the console we're going to open up and work on. red light = powers on, That's a good sign! that means it has power! Displays image, also a good sign, however... Oh no! something's not working right... alright let's get this started then! first, see if the cart is connecting ok, in this case I was using a copy of super mario world, cartridge goes into the front like so. after some jiggling I got a clear picture again, but this is indicative of a bad connection with the cartridge, after a quick cleaning of the cartridge the issue persists so let's open it up. Step 1: Remove the six screws on the bottom (circled in red) this is where you need the long phillips. Step 2: take the bottom off the case revealing the motherboard and insides. Then remove the screws to remove the top RF shield (this is to prevent interference with the console and the game via radio frequency, something still used today.), so remember to put it back during re-assembly. at this point you can access and clean the cartridge connector easily and try the game again (making sure both are clean, I reccomend rubbing alcohol and Q tips, and or a paper towel and an old credit card that you can slide in there. Step 3: since that didn't work I can only assume it's a bad cartridge connector, After a week of waiting around I received a replacement in the mail, typically 8 to 10 usd on ebay (including shipping), so we remove the motherboard from the console. Step 4: remove the bottom shield. it should slide right off revealing the motherboard. this is what a NES actually looks like on the inside, see that black thing on the bottom, that's the cartridge connector, after all the disassembly it should just slide off with some effort (be careful but it's not easy to disconnect). also at this point if you're careful, you can disable the NES lockout chip (known as the 10 NES chip), by breaking the 4th pin of the chip circled in red (4th on the bottom facing the capacitors) again, 10 nes disabling, EXPERTS ONLY, do this if you know what you're doing (a pair of wire cutters works well here if they're thin, also the helping hands to steady the board and magnify for precision, one wrong move and your NES is dead.) I've already done so previously and it works fine. this is what the cartridge connector looks like it's pretty straight forward from this point on, after you put your new connector onto the board (same place you removed the old one from), just follow the steps in reverse, and replace all the screws (you kept your screws right?) and viola! it works, this is one of the easier repairs to do, but don't do it if you don't know what you're doing, consult a professional. this has been SpookyZalost... Signing off!
