  1. Next Gen Planes Pack 1

    Version 1.0.2

    1,397 Downloads

In years gone by, SC4 aviation creators gave us modular airports allowing city builders to create more realistic, sometimes-sprawling airports with customisable terminals, concourses and runways. But in 2024, some aspects could use an update. New models of aircraft have been designed and launched, while older ones have retired. Airlines have started up, closed down, merged and rebranded. This set is designed to bring a new set of airliners to the modular airport systems released by AC Team and others, which are now all found in the SC4D LEX Legacy Ultimate Airport Pack. This pack is the only external dependency for this set (and this set also doesn't make sense unless used together with the runways, taxiways and terminals found in the legacy pack). What's included here: Passenger airliners from five aircraft families in a range of airline liveries: Airbus A220 - the smallest Airbus, a large regional jet or small mainline jet. Airbus A320neo - the 'new engine option' versions of the A320 family, a single-aisle jet that is one of the most common in the sky. Airbus A330neo - the 'new engine option' version of the A330 family, a twin-engine widebody jet for medium/long-haul flights. Airbus A350XWB - the newest Airbus widebody jet equipped with advanced tech, capable of ultra long haul flights. Boeing 777 - the largest Boeing twin-engine jet, also used on long-haul routes. Each one is lotted on a jetway lot. The widebody jets are on lots designed to fit in with the original AC Team Boeing 747 gates, while the narrowbody jets fit in with original Airbus A320 and Boeing 737 gates. There are also a few planes on 'remote' gates - using air-stairs rather than a jetway. These will link nicely to passenger walkways from the 'RMIP' sets. There are lots for empty gates, and some lots included if you want to customise things with parked planes and planes on your taxiways. These are primarily for visually simulating an airport - but the planes do return some revenue to your city (in line with other modular plane lots released in the past - simulating fees paid by airlines). The A320neo, A330neo and 777 have been developed as updates starting with models I recovered in old files from when I was part of the SimCity Aviation Group (SCAG). Original 777 model credit to Pilotdaryl. A350 and A220 models I have created new. Dependency: SC4D LEX Legacy Ultimate Airport Pack - specifically the AC Mega Textures and AC Mega Props packs. Note on installation: In order to overcome an issue with uploading, I've split the download into two .zip files. Core files needed for all airliner lots are in Vol1. Further airliners are in Vol2. Please download both - hopefully these can be combined in future. The contents are structured into folders under JoelMk2/Next Gen Planes/[Aircraft Model]/[Airline Name]. For the planes/liveries you don't want to use you can remove either the .sc4lot file in this folder, or the entire folder (this will remove the lot and the aircraft props). I would suggest this if you want to reduce your plugins folder size and your Airports menu length.
  2. AGC Aircrafts DLC

    This will be the catalog of my Aircraft DLC. AGC Aircraft DLC contains the following aircraft: - F-35C: AGC_Army_Aircraft_US_F-35C_V01_S1_90 & 67.5, 45, 22.5 - JAS-39E Gripen: AGC_Army_Aircraft_SW_JAS-39E-Gripen_V01_S1_90 & 67.5, 45, 22.5 - A-10C Thunderbolt: AGC_Army_Aircraft_US_A-10C_V01_S1_90 & 67.5, 45, 22.5
  3. Microsoft Flight Simulator

I'm REALLY excited for Microsoft Flight Simulator. All my life, I've been into aviation and I hope to one day obtain a private pilot's certificate. They're doing so many things right. The game is being developed by Asobo Studio in Bordeaux. At the moment, it's the only other game I'm into other than New Cities, Cities: Skylines, and SimCity 4. All my life, fiction has frightened me, so the only games that don't frighten me are ones that "mimic reality." For a game to just "mesh with me," it also takes an active community continuously developing new content for the game. Microsoft Flight Simulator will be sure to have that. In the latest Feature Discovery Series video update, one of the employees of Asobo Studio had talked about how 37,000 airports were manually edited for use in the game and that 80 of the most played and busiest airports were given more attention and what they deemed to be the most iconic airports were given even more special treatment when it came to detail. The next Feature Discovery Series will be released next week. It'll be about Instrument Flight Rules (IFR). As opposed to Visual Flight Rules (VFR) where pilots fly based on their visual surroundings, when pilots fly IFR, they fly based on their instruments. Above the clouds, pilots must fly IFR. No, I'm not in the alpha, but those in the alpha have been saying good things on Reddit and they've been saying them as vaguely as possible. There's an NDA associated with applying for alpha testing.

Does anyone know where I can find Hong Kong Airport lot files? I am not sure about the availability but I have seen pictures of this airport in SC4.
  5. Rhennus earns its wings with its Regional Airport!

Queen Ilene: Today we have one of the grandest news update of the Kingdom, we are delighted to present our first airport, the Rhennus Regional Airport! Jenny Salisbury: That's right! It took an awful lot from the royal coffers but it is finally open for business. Most of our debut travelers are arriving for the Festival, and many more are expected in the coming winter for another big project we'll soon inaugurate, the Mount Steel Ski Resort. Let's now go with Mew, he'll show us around the new facilities. Mew: NYYAAAAHH nyah-nyah-nyah!! Nyah nyu-niu myah-nyah nyah-nah, miu-mew-mew nyu nyu-nyah!! (Translation: Hiiii everyone!! The airport is ready at last, let us show you around!!) ֍ RHENNUS REGIONAL AIRPORT ֎ ROYAL AIR TRANSPORT CORPORATION Jenny Salisbury: This airport is located close to the village of Rhennus, the namesake of this city district and visible just behind Mew. After many years investigating the lands of the Kingdom, we found this to be one of two outstanding candidate sites for a major airport facility. Among the considerations we had striking a balance between minimizing nuisance to highly populated areas while maintaining sufficient proximity to these, followed by ensuring an exceptionally convenient access to the Rhennus Industrial Park, visible in the far left side of the view Mew is showcasing. Mew: Nyah nee-nee nyu-niu miu-niu! (Translation: And this is the airport itself!) Jenny Salisbury: We start with an overview of the cargo facilities, the main reason for the operation of this airport. During the construction we coordinated with various freight logistics enterprises to establish a large distribution center adjacent to the cargo terminal. Meanwhile, the airport itself is expected to handle approximately 300 million tonnes of cargo per year once in full operation and 85 processed airplanes per day. We expect to reach this goal in six years, once operations have normalized between this airport and the upcoming Kingdom of Rota International. Until the latter is fully constructed, we will handle the bulk of passenger traffic at Rhennus. Queen Ilene: We are not only handling cargo from within the Kingdom, but also from our bigger neighbors with much higher passenger demands in their airports. To actually do that effectively, we still need to expand the railway facilities around the airport, connecting them to the Kingdom's wider rail network. Mew: Nyah nee-nee niau miu-miai myu-miu mew-mewmew! (Translation: And this is where your online orders go through!) Mew: Nanau mew niu nyah miau-myah nya-nya-nyah, mew-mew! (Translation: Follow me to the passenger terminal, this way!) Queen Ilene: Here we are at last! This passenger facility looks surprisingly big for a single runway cargo airport, but we are providing installations big enough to handle all sorts of situations: peak demand from highly touristy periods, space for emergency landing of medium and large aircraft, and numerous smaller routes within and beyond the Kingdom. We made it such that it peaks at around 6 million annual passengers, but we do expect a decrease in this traffic once Kingdom of Rota International becomes well-established. Jenny Salisbury: We're making absolutely sure to have room for big loads of visitors, distributed in these four terminals and totalling 33 gates, 26 of which handle scheduled commercial passenger flights: Terminal A: 10 gates for small regional jets and turboprop aircraft Terminal B: main international terminal with space for 6 wide-body passenger jets and 1 narrow body passenger jet. Terminal C: auxiliary international terminal with space for 9 narrow-body passenger jets. We expect to use this one mainly during peak demand seasons, as is currently the case with the ongoing Festival of the Guardian. Terminal D: general aviation terminal with room for private jets and chartered narrow-body regional jets, accommodating up to 7 aircraft Mew: Nyah nee-nyah niau nyau-nyah myai! (Translation: And here's the entrance side!) Jenny Salisbury: Ahem! Make sure the camera is properly focused first. Mew: Nyah-nyah, nyah-nyah!! Mewmewmew! (Translation: Alright, alright!! Here we go!) Queen Ilene: The entrance space is currently designed to have five passenger pick-up and drop-off areas, a singular and very large parking garage with space for 12,600 vehicles and some charming plazas for our visitors. We are currently evaluating the possibility of routing a high capacity passenger railway system with direct connections to the major cities in the vicinity: Cameran, Wellesley, Imbin and Obstragon. Mew: Mew-new nyah nee Nyah-nee nyah nee nah miau-nee nyah. Myah-myah-mee nee niau-nau mew new-niu nyah niau-nee, miau-myah nah miah-miou. (Translation: Jenny and the Queen call this an office park. All I see is houses for hasty people with coffee, papers and smartphones.) Mew: Nyah niu-niu nah mew-miu-myah-myah!! Nee-nee mew nah miiiiaaaauuu miu myah nyah-niou. (Translation: And here's the service area!! This is where the planes go to the doctor.) Queen Ilene: Silly Mew! Those are maintenance hangars, it's kind of like a doctor for the planes, but they are machines, not living creatures like humans and pokémon. Mew: Nyah-niou mew-nah mew miiiiaaaauuu! (Translation: Doctors' offices for small planes!) Jenny Salisbury: And don't forget the southern side firefighting station, the road tunnel and the airport radio system. Those are super important to keep the airport operating safely. Queen Ilene: here's the hangars for the maintenance of the large airplanes, we have to make sure they can be in top shape to carry our passengers and merchandise. Mew: Nyah-niou mew-nah nyaaah miiiiaaaauuu! Nyah new-nah miiiiaaaauuu myam-myam niau-niu Nee-ni-niu-nee myah mew! (Translation: Doctors' offices for big planes! And here's the airplane food pantry @kim026 asked for!) Jenny Salisbury: Why don't we show our viewers how other parts of Rhennus are doing? Queen Ilene: Great idea! The airport has created big expectations for everyone, especially for the big industrialists of Rota and the residents affected by the airport project. Below we have Mew peering into the new Rhennus Technological Industries Zone, our brand new hi-tech industrial park. ֍ RHENNUS TECHNOLOGICAL INDUSTRIES ZONE ֎ MINISTRY OF ECONOMIC DEVELOPMENT Mew: Miu-myah-miou nyah nah nee-nee miu-miui! (Translation: It's powered by the spinny winds!) Mew: Nyah niu mee-miau! Miou myah niu-niu-nyaunyah nyah miiiaaauuu mrrr-mrrr! (Translation: A new village! Safe from river floods and airplane noise!) Jenny Salisbury: It also has a new park as well! Queen Ilene: Thanks for coming once again, we expect you in the next journal, we'll have more amazing views from our beloved Kingdom for all to marvel at. Take care! Jenny Salisbury: We still have more action going on at the Festival of the Guardian, we'll soon provide an update on the third day and the quarter finals of the tournament. Mew: Myah-nyai!!! (Translation: Bye-bye!!!)

Corsair flight arriving at Pointe-à-Pitre International Airport (Guadeloupe) from Paris Orly Airport.
  7. Putting out a request for builders, modders, lotters et. al. to consider some new aircraft, jetways. Looking for an A350-900 Air France and 787's. Thank you.
  8. thecitiescenter's BATS

Hi Everyone. So I've decided to start a BAT thread to show some of the stuff I've been working on. These are, and started out as, projects to primarily fill gaps in the cities that I'm building. I'm not really looking to become a career modeler or anything like that (I'm already well into my career doing something else). This is a hobby and a way to relax after work and family commitments are done for the day (sometimes (more often lately) at the expense of sleep.. but who needs that, right?). Anyways, I hope to release these once I'm satisfied that they're "release-able"... but thought I'd share with you all regardless. AVIATION: Fact of the matter is, I really, really miss the content put out by the AC, SCAG teams and mike_oxlong. If you followed my CJ from years ago, you'll know that I love to build airports. Since there hasn't been any activity from the aviation teams a lot of the planes and liveries available on STEX are becoming outdated. A month ago, I contacted mike_oxlong and he was kind enough to share some of the base models that he converted from Flight Simulator (with permission from their original modelers for release to the STEX). With his help (and it was a LOT of help -- HUGE thanks to mike_oxlong), I began re-texturing some of those models. Here are two examples: Xiamen Air Boeing 787-800: Amazon Boeing 767F: RETAIL: Working on those planes kind of opened up a bit of a BAT rabbit-hole for me. For years, I've wanted to add some retail to my cities with brands that don't exist on the STEX. Primarily, I was looking at Asian American brands that are quite common where I live in California and in major metropolitan areas along the US west coast, in Texas, the East Coast and in Canada (and some mainstream brands as well-- specifically Pacific Northwest based brands). In the past couple weeks, I've come up with these: 99 RANCH PLAZA: This is a retail plaza styled after similar retail plazas found throughout suburban areas on the US west coast and in Texas. It's anchored by Taiwanese-American supermarket chain 99 Ranch, which is based out of Buena Park, California. They have 42 locations in various US states. There's also a GEN Korean BBQ, a 85' Bakery, a Tea shop and Koi Palace Seafood Restaurant (a popular (and rather large) dim sum restaurant in the SF Bay Area). SEAFOOD CITY PLAZA: After coming up w/the above, I re-skinned the original to make a smaller plaza anchored by Seafood City, a Filipino-American supermarket chain based out of Pomona, California. There's also a Red Ribbon bakery, Filipino restaurant, and a Jollibee's (a Philippines-based fast food joint w/over 3,000 locations worldwide including a few in the US) in this plaza. COSTCO: I made this one just to fill a spot in my re-creation of Tokyo. It's a Costco, but its based on their Japanese locations, which, unlike their American counterparts, are usually two stories and set in a very urban environment (although I've seen one in New York like this). It's purposefully W2W so that you can plop a parking garage next to it, though if I have time, I may model a parking garage for better consistency. I've got quite a few others coming up, as well as some on my "To-Do" list, including two more Pacific Northwest-based retail chains (one store has the initials F and M... and the other N and R.) Anyways thats it for now.
  9. I thought it's time to get my own topic running as I started some more advanced, larger project a day ago. Besides the vehicles I created before I started working on some vanilla-style modular airport, based on the vanilla airport and international airport assets. Due to my quiet limited time caused by real life don't expect extra-fast progress Still I've got to update my "old" vehicle assets too, but the vehicle editor seems to be kinda messed up since the last patch - anyway I'll look into this too by time as I already promised! For now I got the following types of buildings planned for this airport set which is heavily inspired by the AC teams set for SimCity 4 functional terminal block with three "small" gates functional terminal block with two "large" gate non-functional terminal filler pieces with gates terminal piece with control tower (RICO Office) terminal block without gate (RICO commercial low) monorail / (elevated) metro / train terminal pieces terminal block with taxi stands (AD required) terminal block with bus hub (to be connected to the tarmac and without airport functionality - just to connect aircraft stands in some nice way ) terminal block with road maintenance service building (connected to the tarmac side to simulate road-traffic on the airport ) functional terminal with concourse (4 + gates using sub buildings) "T - style" functional concourse piece (featuring gates on both sides, will probably require network extensions as it has to be entered on foot from the underground using pedestrian "roads") eye candy ends for concourse, left and right eye candy transition piece between one-level and two-level terminals (maybe even RICO - enabled, we'll see) two-level functional terminal blocks (will be a challange to be set up - I try to set the entrances on the upper level, the exits on the lower level) two-level terminal with control tower (probably RICO office + functional (using sub building - I don't know yet if something like this is possible)) large fake-entrance piece for two-level terminals (RICO commercial high) (so especially when using rush hour many people gonna go into this one) monorail / (elevated) metro / train two-level terminal pieces two-level terminal block with taxi stands (AD required) two-level terminal block with bus hub (to be connected to the tarmac and without airport functionality - just to connect aircraft stands in some nice way ) simple helipads with one of each natural disasters helicopters working doppler radar dome (requires ND - a non working version is available on the workshop) stand-alone ATC towers surface movement radar tower some props like (enhanced) vanilla jet bridges, stand guidance displays and other small things which will be pretty Special features: rotating radar domes for ATC towers and the radar tower (gotta look into this!) usage of the "vehicle rotor" shader discovered by @Ronyx69 for large glass parts of the terminals (I try to work around the lod-problem) stock-game style as I use the textures and models from the game as my start-point usage of the "loading screen mods" benefits → as I use the same texture with the same name most of the times it will be loaded only once into VRAM when using this mod - which is great! living airports by the use of RICO settings - which you don't have to use at all (those buildings will work as an landmark if you don't use that mod ) more space between planes and terminals due to longer jet bridges - you'll be able to draw some road in between using the anarchy tool of your choise Downsides: jet bridges will disappear after a certain distance as I'll convert them to props. I decided to do so to increase flexibility on creating different terminal types and styles by using many working two-gate assets ingame the airport will get really congested! That's the reason for me to include non-functional versions too. Later on I might create a mod to enhance the vanilla runways and taxiways. I looked up the networks in mod tools and changed some values to test something which turned out to be possible: different wide runways (40m up to 65m for realistic regional and international airports - new network meshes needed) more realistic markings with lights on runways (probably by adding more segments to one network, segment[0] would be just asphalt to place some indicator like "20L", segment[1] would be the threshold, segment[2] would contain the dashed line only, segment [3] dashed line + precision marking followed by 2x (segment[2] again, then segment[3]) and finally segment[2] for the whole middle part to start in reverse after - dunno if that's possible at all) two-way taxiways (for special use-cases) taxiways with "shoulders" (a bit wider than now) and green lights in their middle taxilanes (taxiways with some flat mesh and without dirt-shoulders to be used on aprons. probably just the yellow line with green lights.) more realistic speeds for taxiways and taxilanes I gonna provide one screenshot just to show you the difference: On the left you can see the vanilla runway which is about 30m wide + 2m "shoulder" (mesh edge) → 32m footprint. The next ones footprint is 46m wide which would fit most regional/domestic airports. The one on the right is 60m wide which fits for large aircraft like the A380. ----------------------------------------snip---------------------------------------- First I gonna take off by showing you some first work I've done before starting this topic. This is going to be the first wall-to-wall terminal building featuring three gates (just like the vanilla airport). I removed the jet bridges and details on the left and right to save some polys and - of course - to get the bounding box right Next step will be to map those filled holes, after this I gonna cut the windows and create some basic interior as those will get some semi-transparent love they deserve

Post your aviation pictures, especially if you are a pilot! Here are some pictures of the Cessna 172 I fly at my flight school, along with a few other airplanes on the field. The Cessna 150 I had a chance to get hands on with Beechcraft Baron When I took my friend up for his first time ever in the air. I made his day!
  12. General Aviation

As some of you may or may not know, I am a student pilot here in Virginia. General aviation is a passion of mine and I'm wondering if any of you fly? If so, what kind of airplane and what certification do you have? This thread is open to all aviation interests and pictures. Tell us your stories and accomplishments. Ive logged about 12 hours in a Cessna 172 Skyhawk XP II. Soloing next month! home airport: KVJI First time I took a friend up was in the C172, I'm on the right in the blue. That's me next to our Beechcraft
  13. German UFO

There are times when the technologies of the past are ahead of their own time and even ahead of modern technologies. Such is the case with UFO.They say that necessity is the mother of invention. During the last years of world war 2, Germany was losing. Hitler wanted a "super-weapon" that would change the course of the war. So he ordered the military scientists and they proceeded. The result was an experimental disk shaped aircraft that was designed to be very aerodynamic. It had propellers at the bottom that made it fly and hover. However it never got past the testing stage to the battlefront. When a cannon positioned on one side of it shoot, the resulting inertia made the craft spin in the other direction! Here's a few pictures. The sad thing is that not many people who do not know about the existence of this craft are deceived into believing that UFO's are alien spaceships rather then experimental military aircrafts. Only scientists, historians, or sci-fi technology junkies like me know about it. The evidence shown here destroys the heart of the pseudo scientific ancient alien theory.
