  1. This is definitely the right call. Not only is it impractical to try and cater to a tiny population of people who fit into these categories, but it's also unsafe for those who still have an OS old enough to run the old version of the game. Minimum versioning is vital to software services; you have to have a cutoff line because at some point the simple process of developing tools like the Injector becomes a much bigger hassle than its worth. I don't blame Aspyr for this, either. It was a miracle they took on the task of porting SC4 to begin with, but it's a legacy game without support from anyone. I feel they could have done more to for the port when it was released, but I also think we would have ended up in this spot when all was said and done anyways. Anyways, I finally bit the bullet and caught both SC4 and SC3KU on sale on GOG. All the mods, .exe commands, and saves work as intended once you move them over to the correct folder, so I don't think it's too big an ask to upgrade to that version to get the latest, greatest, and safest version of the game. ...also hello.
  2. Hey folks! So, when playing Cities: Skylines, how do you prevent yourself from burning out? Sometimes, playing for so long and gathering so many mods can actually wear me down enough to where I stop playing for a while, and then it's kind of hard to get back into it. I'm curious: what do you folks do to circumvent this?
  3. Tribute to A Nonny Moose

I've been a member of this forum since December of 2005. Almost 20 years now. I've known ANonnyMoose for my entire lifespan as a member of the SimCity community, as he was truly irreplaceable... And only now--JUST TODAY--did I realize the pun in his name. Ooof. Oh, well. Proof that I keep him in my thoughts.
  4. Could I jump in on this? Also, can request on behalf of other Sim folks?
  5. Hello folks! Since the After Dark expansion gave us a day cycle, I thought it might be nice to take advantage of all the different times of days! There's already a "Show Us Your Night Shots," so why not a topic such as this? Give us some pictures like these: ...Let's see what you got!
  6. The Simtropolis Annuarians Club

@Larks2242 - Man, I'm glad you're all good now! I agree with you--this community has done so much for me. It's where I learned how to use the internet, proper online etiquette, basic photoshop, and innumerable other things. We were all part of this community, and I'm happy you're still with us. Congrats, man!
  7. My Builds

Wow, blast from the past, man! I used to love your SC4 CJs, and now I'm interested to see where you take this project!
  8. SimCity 4 turns 15!

SimCity 4 is the game of my college life. There wasn't a single other game I played more, lost more nights of sleep over, involved myself in the online community for, or made so many friends from during that time than this one. As far as I'm concerned, it's one of the best things that I've ever gotten into.
  9. The Milestone Thread

I probably won't remember to log in on the day that it actually passes, but on the 19th of this month, I'll be a 12-year Simtropolitan (Simtropolan? Simtropolisian? Eh...). Simtropolis was the first forum I ever joined and was active on, and it basically taught me how to use the internet (and basic photo-editing for all those pictures I wanted to post, hahaha). Even though I don't come around all that much anymore, I could never thank this site enough for how it helped me in my early years of the web, and how much it enhanced my love for SC4. Site is the greatest. I miss it dearly. You are an incredible community. Thank you for having me!
  10. My thoughts exactly. I love what people are able to create with all the mods and tools at our disposal, and I try my hardest to see if I can emulate the style...but if it doesn't work in the game, I can't get down with it. And people will do crazy, unrealistic things to make sure the city is functional, but I can't get down on that, either. That's probably another reason I enjoy your work. Plus, these types of games are certainly more city-focused, and it's nice to see a rural focus sometimes. Also...biking all the way down the river!? Man, what an undertaking! Akin to hiking the Appalachian Trial...it will be the ride of a lifetime, I imagine. Good luck!
  11. Man, look at this guy work! The attention to detail is bar none the most impressive out of any city journalist I've ever seen, especially in this game where so much of what's popular is the creation of eye-candy. Never ceases to amaze, absolutely. Also...we just gonna gloss over the fact that took a 400-mile bike ride earlier this month? Is that such a common activity for you that no one decided to make comments on it?
  12. Tribute to A Nonny Moose

A Nonny Moose was a constant. There was never a day that I logged in that didn't have him post a new message or start a new topic, and he was always the most reliably even-keeled user in our community. It's never easy to see that a pillar in our community has passed away, even if I haven't been here in ages. John will be missed dearly, and behind him he leaves a moose-shaped void which can never be fully filled. Rest in peace, Nonny. And thank you.
  13. Building A Skyline From Scratch

I love how this looks exactly as I'd expect a Haljackey city to look, even in a completely different game . Keep it up, sir!
  14. This was an interesting question posed on a traveler's forum: which ten cities do you think are the most famous cities in the world? It's your opinion; there are no right or wrong answers. I think that the ten most famous cities are: 1.) New York City 2.) Paris 3.) London 4.) Tokyo 5.) Sydney 6.) Rome 7.) Berlin 8.) Hong Kong 9.) Los Angeles 10.) Dubai That's just me, though...what's your opinion?
  15. Show us your Area view

Aerial views in this game always look incredible! I've got a couple here:
  16. Hello from Texas, David! I cannot express how eager and excited I am to see what you produce in Jessamine...and perhaps even more so, how your work here will ripple throughout Cities:Skylines, as your work in 3RR so profoundly affected SimCity 4. Cheers!
  17. The Custom Member Label Club

I don't even remember...do I have one of these? [EDIT] Question answered

  19. I wrote a review of Cities: Skylines! Feel free to check it out, and let me know if you agree with my thoughts: http://re-viewsmagazine.com/cities_skylines/

      T Wrecks

Well, I don't have the game, so I cannot really agree or disagree (yet). What I can say is that it was a good review because it gave a good idea of the possibilities of the game - I learnt some details I didn't know before. You also succeeded at describing its role for the traditional SimCity community, and wrapped it all up in an article that's easy to read and yet offers substantial information. Thumbs up!

  21. All of my cities tend to be just go-with-the-flow types. I'll plan out the expressways for simplicity's sake (easier to build around them if they're already there ), and I'll have a very loose plan for zoning (CBD by the river junction, heavy industry in this tile, airport way out here, etc.)...but as far as surface streets and specific zones, I build them as needed.
  22. SC3KU | Return To Shiba

I don't actually play the game, but I definitely was addicted to it in high school, and I go back every so often to look in on my cities. I've never thought about creating new ones, but it makes me really happy that someone else still plays this game. Your city is beautiful, as well! The CBD is great, but it's really cool to see the neighborhoods and suburbs (and also good to see I'm not the only one who lines my street with parks and fountains :P). Thank you for sharing your SC3KU cities! Maybe you'll inspire me to get back into it :)
