  1. Uskopoit in Flames!

Hello James:   I've been MIA with a new computer the past two weeks and missed some of your updates. Good to see you are still running in elite-CJ mode!   Awesome element tying in the disaster to your CJ instead of just moving on as if it didn't happen.   Very cool element. I was going to do something similar (use real-life major news events in my real-life area as influences) once I launch my CJ. Yet again, you lead the way in how it should be done.
  2. LOT EDITOR graphics listing

I know this isn't exactly what you were looking for- but this is a nice graphical prop pack catalog at sc4devotion. https://www.sc4devotion.com/forums/index.php?topic=13364.msg411188#msg411188 Not the cure, but if you weren't aware of this post might it help? Cheers for the effort though.
  3. LOT EDITOR graphics listing

Love the idea- but even with help as mentiond it could be brutal. Perhaps as mentioned you have one for your most popular/most used ones. For reference- while not nearly as time-consuming but still alot of work- I've been downloading and organizing all "good" (rated 4.5ish+) buildings into categories to plop all in a row, screenshot, then label. This would be a huge potential visual catalog for ploppers out there. While there is the online guide st 3000 buildings so far I think- I wanted one where I cN see all buildings layed out in scale. Same concept but with buildings. Not a help to you but same idea. If you do undertake this project fullsteam - I would offer my services.
  4. Romanovik

I thiught Paeng had the mmp / terrain genre locked down. I guess not :p love the rapids- I can just see the salmon going through there. 11/10.this is Future inspiration for any new CJ'er out there.
  5. Hard To Port

Well done as always. Getting bored saying that lol. Nice seeing a well-done rural seaport instead of the heavy industry type commonly used. Really like the dirt roads . I never make them look realistic like you have. Well done sir! Happy birthday too Mandel!
  6. A Growing Town

Great entry James. Your CJ is really taking off. Again, great flora placement. Neat entry about the flower and explaining its habitat. I'll be honest, I am cut and pasting your pics to use for inspiration for my future Cj. Keep up the great work.
  7. Offline Modding Rules

Not a mod maker or lawyer. But I do got the occasional nugget of info that helps. I am going to use a website domain name as an example. So anyway, walmart owns walmart.com pure and simple. Yet I (if it wasn't owned already) could legally make a website domain name that includes walmarts name in it yet obviously is not walmart. However I cannot make a website that intends to mislead customers into thinking that it IS walmart. Example: Walmart.com (legal) Walmartisgarbage.com (legal) Walmartcustomerservice.com (illegal (if not owned by walmart and assuming people may be misled by the name) So regarding the EA factor of mods with trademarks- yeah it potentially I am guessing would be like sc4. But they would be hesitant to outright endorse a HUGE EA-owned/endorsed database of "McDonnigans" fast food restaraunts or "HamburgerKing's". A cease and desist would likely shut down endorsed modding and further infuriate a already upset community. It'd likely be the finishing blow- and they are nervous about it. Just some thoughts. 8. Roundabouts- Part 1

Very cool Titanic. I have yet to use roundabouts very effectively or make them look aesthetically appealing. I like what you've done. Especially the first two. The first looks very natural and perfectly placed and the second picture's seem to flow right off each other. Well done sir!
  9. Villages and Streams

Heya James- we talked in the SC Lounge and I promised I'd check it out. And I am glad I did.   You did some seriously nice work on your flora. Reminds me of Paeng's awesome work. Really well done. While I am more a fan of the "huge" farm crop layout as opposed to say 6x8 or so- you really made it look awesome with the different crops growing together and naturally. Visually I really dig the color contrasts (to be honest- except for the purple and a REALLY bright green- what crops are those?). I might be knocking you for something totally legit. But I mean it- REALLY well done flora/farm layout. I wish I could do what you did man.   I like you residential layout too. Not a grid structure for a tiny city (which would really look out of place) - but a natural layout. Like as your text provides, settlers just coming in- likely to readjust int he future.   And the backstory you have of the two societies coming into one- I am looking forward to see the two different "socialist housing" / "Asian housing" merge together.   Make it happen man! Well done- 5/5 and raising my glass to this post.
  10. An introduction to Mitagra

I'd render it all. Well done so far, I like your map alot. Perfect blemd of flat land/water/mountains.
  11. Filling Diagonal Avenue

Yeah thats probably the best way to do it, the sandstone in particular as I know there are fillers for it. His pedmall sanstone plazas match the sidewalk texture's as well.
  12. Filling Diagonal Avenue

Im not at home or I'd give thr name- but I know someone just posted diag parking lots. Besides that there are diag seasonal tree parks, the fillers you mentioned, pedmall fillers, and buildings (search grdibuster, diag, diagonal, corner). I know the euro batters have alot of diag filler. As you said you know about this stuff- just options if u are unsuccesful fixing that sidewalk mod white texture.
  13. Chiyoda Elevated Expressway

I gotta agree with Ping about the pencil. That being said- you got a work of art on your hands. Really beautiful.
  14. Running a plopped city

If you enjoyed making and are haply with this then imho I'd just keep doing it. Residential will not officially function as we all know, but if you just want candy there are work arounds. Do, you don't deserve it with nozots to eliminate the jobless icons, use a x4 demand mod (named rci multi ....) , then kill taxes to 0. Your population will end up as 0 in game, but if you use Daelys (spelling) regional census- that will count all the "trapped in their homes" prisoner/sims you have. Grant it inflated if you use the demand cheats. While the plopping eliminates the economic side of the game- do it if you are enjoying it. And if anyone flames ya for being a plopper and "killig the realism"- remind them that mayors in real life as of 3/3/14 are still unable to launch robot attacks on their citizens or create car factories the size of about 50 parking locations. Mayor and Don Corleone
  15. Overhanging Parkings

I absolutely love anything that will break up a grid and I also love parking spaces which I use a ton of. Good thinking and well done! All the people who commented wanting diag filler- I know there is a seasonal park I use frequently that works great. Stex search diagonal park. Well done again!
  16. Overhanging Parkings

Love any grid-busting/diagonal buildings of any type. Extra parking lots is all the more better. Can always use them! 5/5
  17. First off I would like to say that I am in no way knocking this site whatsoever. Since downloading SC4 from Steam and finding this site- I have been floored by how incredible this community is in keeping such a incredible game not only alive- but thriving. Please do not view my post as a troll post ----- I like many others have gone hog wild downloading from this site after revisiting sc4. Yet I have read a few posts about "not knowing what to download" and "what is best". While this may be completely subjective in some aspects, some mods are obviously elite quality and likely would be appreciated by all. While the NAM and such are a given, might their possibly be a use for a "Top X Mods for Y" type lists to assist users in finding commonly desired mods. I have found the STEX (while awesome in what it does) to be a bit scattered even when seatching for some specific items. I read and appreciate how difficult a "Master" dependency folder would be (though there are some as I see in the donation area) - but I am thinking more of simply links to recommended mods. This would not be a "competition" or self-promotion tool for personal mods- but simply lists of popular mods. Examples might be something like: Top 20 US Skyscraper Bats Top 20 European Skyscraper Bats Top 20 Asiatic Prop Files Top 20 Terrain Mods I have seen the stickys explaining the types of files and how to install- but this may make a easy one-stop shop for a overhaul to the users desire. Thanks and incredible work guys! The Godfather
  18. Organization of mods/lots/bats/etc

Sorry for bumping this but I just realized it was responded too (it should dead on my iphone forum bc you (rightfully so) moved it to its proper forum location here. Anyway, I wasn't very clear Nonny so no problem. And your explanation was very detailed and much appreciated. It did help regarding plugins. AndCyclone's links where exactly what I was talking about. As an example, I have been downloading stuff in "themes". "Paris" "W2W" "suburban". Yet after going through item by item the results I later found on an unrelated search items that should have been there. They weren't tagged at all by the creator. Anyway, those links were what I was talking about, though a bit outdated :/ Thanks to all of you for your help! Don Vito Corleone Mayor / Olive Oil Businessman
  19. RHW 6 (C/S?) bridge

From this statement, I would assume you're not from the North East/New England area of the US. Our highways have each one of those styles. Most of the time, the trees/rocks are no more than 8-10 feet off from the breakdown lane of the highways. In fact, even some backyards of residential areas are no more than 20-30 from the highway. 3 grid squares away makes for an excessive amount of wasted real estate. IMO..... As far as the OP's question, I would use all the styles in different areas along the highways. Walls definitely for close by residential/suburban areas, not so much C (unless a dense CBD area) or I zones. That is, if your going for more of a form over function appeal. Trees/Grass for more rural areas. From this statement, I would assume you're not from the North East/New England area of the US. Our highways have each one of those styles. 20. RHW 6 (C/S?) bridge

First off overall your city looks good! 1. I try to layout highway before buildings for this reason. The room they can take... i would do B (farther back walls) with trees where room. I try to do something like wall- trees( trees running alongside the highway) - 2 or 3 spaces - highway-s - 1 or 2 space median and repeat. I wouldnt load up on the actual trees within 3 of the hwy either as its not a forest. Thats my opinion. I like alot of the stuff you've done!
  21. 25. The Heart of Steel - Turgikorsk Industrial Area (season finale)

I just got to this site so missed most of your CJ- but this is some beautiful stuff. Well done sir!
  22. Region on STEX Already Suited for Seaports?

While your purpose is straight edges (you could do a hole digger rd line too or use the PEG seaport leveler (I haven't yet but I saw it in one of the dl packages)- I am doing Using RHP's Hampton Roads. While I am sure it is dead on accurate as all their maps are- i had to modify alot as mentioned above. Darn human beings moving earth around!! I know you wanted flat coastline by I love the 3 "chunks" of land in the shape of a Y with many tributaries. I plan on doing extensive seaporting (new verb!) maybe it'll appeal to you too. Good luck! Don Vito Corleone Mayor of the soon to be launched "New Sicily"
  23. Anchor Bar

Yet another awesome building. I love low-mid w2w. Plus I lived in the Metro Detroit area, so I really appreciate your work. Well done sir!
  24. Northward to Canterbury

Incredible stuff. Great terrain work on the harbor. Really well layed out. Will be following from now on for sure!
  25. Hello Simmers: After reading the many great tutorials, posts, comments and downloading a goodly amount of maps, mods, bats, and lots- I am near ready to launch my CJ. I also have come up with the overall layout in paint for my region and have even finished (for now) tr full nam rhw and rail for th first city. That bing said: 1. While everyone had their favorite method, assuming you use damn: how do you organize all your buildings? I was going to use "theme" for commercial skyskrapers as anexample (ie: paris, hk, nybt) 2. I read about effects of plopping (zots but I do tastyzots) and no cars on the road. About what percent plop do you do? I was even plopping res simply to have pretty neighborhoods. 3. Plugin folder: mine is a mess. Adding stuff to damn can take a long time to find. Debating moving each folder with the mod/bat into one with the authors name as I am going to continuously download more everyday. Any other advice? Thank you guys. Love the community here!
