  1. PC Billboard Set 1

First off, they are beautiful and I definitely want them! I really mean that and appreciate that obvious effort in making so many awesome billboards. But yeah, making it a prop family would make it SOOO much easier. Too much to scroll through otherwise- even using DAMN. Please relist- love the work you did!
  2. Loewenthal Metals

Love all your stuff Nofunk. Yet another great one!
  3. Anderson Hall

I hate the look (yet love it because of the description) and totally get why you made it. Such a generic awful lecture hall lol- thanks 5/5
  4. Kisztow-1983 (After the communism - pilot 2)

    That looks awesome!
  5. Hello all: I've tried twice to create prop families via different programs: 1. PIMX the first time 2. Ilive Reader. Using Pimx I actually found the family but I messed up on it and decided to use a different ID. Since then I haven't been successful. Yesterday I cleared out all pertaining files and reinstalled both programs. Some technical details: 1. Both times I put the applicable files into my sc4 plugins folder in my documents. With no success I then tried putting it in the game directory (in my case the Steam game directory plugin folder). After that- I tried putting them in both at the same time. After that didn't work I simply placed them with no subdirectories in the plugins folder. 2. I followed a tutorial on Pimx and am fairly certain I did everything right in that regard. I believe it is simply a matter of misplacing files or something. For my Ilive Reader attempt, I made the .dat file from existing props (simfox's, VIP and Grfe's trees), changed the group and instance, and added my own (assigned from the prop family database at SC4Devo) prop family ID to the exemplars. I did this via Jeronji's tutorial and followed it word for word. The one expection was that my exemplars did NOT have building/prop family ID's and I instead added a property and my own. The tutorial implied they would already exist. 3. I reindexed them after any work I did. I know this is a lot to read, my apologies for not being more concise. Thank you in advance for any help you can give me. I look forward to putting up some cool stuff on the Stex very soon. Don Vito Corleone
  6. Unable to Locate the Prop Family I Created

Ok I just read your link Ncgaio, very interesting. I liked the prop family system simply cause it was built in lot editor or pimx lot editor so once made I could be done with it- but I may try out that method instead. I am making a crapton of plaza lots right now as filler for cities. I am using a TON of detail so I wanted the trees I use to be random among my selections. I am making like 60+ plaza's if not more. Anyway, last question: I found PIMX to be unable to find any custom content in my sim city my documents plugin folder- but it would recognize them if I put them in my steam sc4 plugins folder. Might this be part of my issue? Any ideas guys? Thanks so much all- really appreciated. Don Vito Corleone
  7. Unable to Locate the Prop Family I Created

Ok, I had two separate prop family files- I didn't even realize the old one (made on pimx) was still there- but it is. So I attached two screenshots. As suggested I added "1" into the building/prop family rep. it was 0. I reindexed after and saved. I did this in Ilive. And since I had my "old" exemplars from Pimx- I saw the unnamed Family Prop ID in the Unnamed Listing- so I added a name "Mafia-StreetTrees" add it went to the "Named" section. All the prop rep's for the family prop ID for that was 1 as well. I attached screenshots. If you could take a look please let me know if I am doing anything wrong. Thank you so much Simcoug and Twrecks. I have spent so much time trying to make this work (a TON of time) and am so close yet not there. Really, really want to finish these as it was my last project before I launch my CJ and start doing some lotting stuff. Thanks guys! Don Vito Corleone
  8. Schloßberg

This is like those pictures in the comics where you have to find what's different between two seemingly exact pictures... Such amazing work in this CJ.   Haven't checked it in a while, glad I did. Really well done!
  9. MGB - Maxis Texture Replacement Dev Kit.

Bravo sir. As stated above, I use the Paeng sandstone Mod (and it is great) - but this just enhances. I knew it could be done but I am still at novice level. Love that you made such a well put together "tutorial".   Really, REALLY looking forward to fixing those ugly overlays!!!   5/5
  10. 5. A beautiful bay. (Plus lots of bonus images)

Very cool seeing a realistically sized wind farm.   At first I thought your wavey roads were too intense- but after looking at them again they really do fit well.   Also enjoyed those midrises on the cliffs all together. They look like they were placed on the cliffs due to necessity (as in realism) rather than just to look cool- tough to do. Organic looking I guess would be the term.   Also, great tree placement. Realistic in that they are on the side of mountains grouped together in realistic spots or near the water. Not just splattered randomly.   Your straight above views look like Google Earth instead of some game :)   Well done sir!
  11. North West England

I gave it a 5 for the following reasons:   1. I'd much rather have a massive map that I can cut down to a size I prefer rather than too small. 2. Realistic maps are awesome. 3. Nice blend (grant it based on the area you selected) of water/"playable flat land"/hills and mountains   My one criticism would be that I'd prefer in your pictures to have 1 single picture WITH grids to be able judge scale.   Never the less, very well done and thanks for uploading! Looks great!
  12. Entry 2, The Core......

Very nice post.   I'm from outside Detroit and your W2W residential reminds me of Detroit. You also have a very nice transfer of high to mid to low density (realistic).   Looks great and I will be watching your CJ going forward.
  13. Google Earth

Hello all: I just started checking out google earth for inspiration for my future CJ. While I've used it before I came back go simcity, I never realized how useful, interesting, and fun (I'm a nerd) it can be to utilllize in sc planning. So: I was wondering if anyone would be interested in a GE "database" (post with picture links) in a format just like the "show us your" simcity pictures but of interesting real cities. Likely topics might be seaports, airports, gov centers, CBD's, oil refinerys, college campuses, etc. What say you? Don Vito
  14. I should have mentioned what Nonny said. I bought te stex packs and boy does it make it easier to download "the best" categorized. Plus ot helps support this place! Also, you can try searching for stuff like "w2w" or "paris" to see themed uploads. Then pick out the uploaders you like most that way.
  15. Yeah as stated above, no "mega" packs. I would do as they said and go by individual uploaders. Here are some groups to start with. Do a search on the stex for their names: in no particular order: Rls, mattb, bsc, hk, ndex, nybt, sg, simpeg, spa, bsp, vda, ferox, paeng If u were to download 20 of each you'd have a huge start. Gl! 16. Google Earth

First off I am happy that I am not alone in my nerdiness . and I totally agree about coordinates. i am hoping we'll get more fellow nerds to assist, hopefully they'll show up soon. I'll send a personal message to you with a very short proposed format and we can start to divide types of pictures if you like. Glad you are interested! Don Vito
  17. All the above sound right, but I was thinking that its a result of the opera house bug. Once you place the maxis reward opera house it sucks up its visitors. Seriously, they enter and get stuck in it. You can find a mod on the stex for it. Even if it is one of the above reasons- be sure to get the opera house fix for the future. Good luck! Don Vito
  18. A Tour Through Marinko (part 2)

Gotta follow the crowd and say "get to Paving" :p or since you have alot of coastline, even more dock system. Looks good James.
  19. V • Tale of Shikibu

Awesome to see an Asian-themed city. So much more work to do with given the limited selection- and you made it look awesome. The temple looks incredible. I love seeing people make custom large buildings as they are much more realistic looking. So incredible for you to be able to tell a story (possibly a short one from how this part ended :P) using sc4.   I'll be watching this for sure. Well done!   Don Vito Corleone
  20. SimCity 4 Let's Play

Use a VERY short list of bullets (basically just the title of each topic). Run it once and time/listen to yourself to see any snags. Good luck!
  21. A Tour Through Marinko (part 1)

Your region shots really show how well and realistically you do your flora (specifically your trees). I can never make it look like that. And your sharp curves in the river with the tuberulence and rocky area around it looks awesome. So much better with that then just plain ol' blue water barely moving around a sharp curve. Water doesn't just break in another direction without a good reason- and you show it in your CJ.   Yet another well done for ya :P
  22. Your longest session?

Weak!! If your session doesn't include an empty beercan at your desk "for nature" - i call your city grind amateur at best! To be honest, i've done some degrading grind sessions. Falling asleep on the keyboard as an adult playinf a video game...
  23. Canal Plus

Awesome job as always!   The canals look like they actually belong there and not simply placed by a bored mayor :P They really fit the city well.   Also, not sure how concerned you were in matching colors of trees with the village and w2w buildings with each other but they look terrific together.   The cat-folk  pulled it off again :)
  24. Increasing number of cars on the road .

There are traffic automata generators available on the Stex. Search for "traffic generator" and you'll see a few. They are (not sure if the terminology is correct) transit-enabled lots that will generate cars on roads near them. In other words, place them directly on top of already placed roads and the game will function like normal. However, cars will appear near this location to keep a solid level of congestion (light/heavy). This "traffic" is actually automata as Cyclone Boom mentioned and therefore is just eyecandy and has no bearing on game mechanics. Be sure to get the dependencies (as always but especially for these) as they can get real ugly without them. (I had to really hold back posting a joke about this question being posted by politicians from New Jersey Good luck Gen. Falcon
