  2. The Moose Factory (virtual Bar & Grill)

Hi, dropping by here always seems to make me hungry (or it could be that it's lunch time here in CA) *thinks a roast beef sandwich with pickles and chips, coke to drink* , haven't been by for a few days because I was blocked from the site - don't know what that was about - after I eat I'll have to wander about and see what new...... FanG *returns to computer after going to kitchen to make roast beef sandwich with pickles and chips, coke to drink* Mr Moose, can I have one of those auto-things you have here in your Bar & Grill since virtual food does nothing for actual hunger? Or a maid? No, a maid, a chef and a housekeeper! No, no - a maid, a chef, a housekeeper and a bazillion bucks to pay for it all.......
  3. Googie architecture

We use to have some Orbit's (sp?) gas stations in Sacramento (CA) that were that style, most are long gone and I really miss them as they were a reminder to me of my coming of age and getting a driver's license - oh! and 25 cents a gallon!!!!!
  4. Rebuilding New Orleans

NO is going to have to have it's levee's rebuilt better/stronger/taller. I don't think you can just dump a bunch of dirt into the lowest areas (although it has been done, downtown Sacramento (CA) is eight or nine feet higher than it use to be, but that was done back in the late 1800s/early 1900s and they didn't have to worry about electricity/telephone lines or sewer or highways etc.. Filling the bowl also would make other areas at risk, you wouldn't want to fill the French Qtr. so you couldn't raise the other areas above it so it all would still be vulnerable to flooding. Reestablishing the marshes and wet areas would at least slow down/weaken other storms. Any way you look at it it's going to be a tough expensive job! FanG (Fred and Ginger, silent d)
  5. The Moose Factory (virtual Bar & Grill)

@Fred_Ginger:  Since I get 'Fred_Ginger' from my clipboard, typing FanG would be awkward.  However, I'll try to remember.  As Dracula left his mother's castle 'FanGs for the mammaries'. Isn't that punny! *Thinks herself another white wine* Whew it's hot here (Cental Valley, California), 96

  13. Introduce Yourself Here!

Finally somewhere I can post, have been lurking for sometime but never had any thing to contribute (learn more from reading than writing) and have learned lots! I'm 50+ (on the far side of that +) and am retired. Use to work for USAF (in Sacramento CA) but lost job in the last round of base closures. It was okay for me because I could retire but some of our folks had to go far far away! I was first exposed to Sim City when a young Lt working in my office brought in the game and played it at work (only at lunch time!). Didn't have a computer at home at the time but when I did get one SC was one of the first things I bought for it. I also like to read and watch movies, but spend most of my days now on the computer playing games and lurking in forums.
