  1. How sweet are those freeway shots on the previous page! Some nice work on the surrounding landscaping, especially the sound walling. I do like your local route shields too. And interesting with the closely spaced interchanges that are typical of older downtown freeways. I'm a roadgeek myself too, so this stuff is quite neat.

I don't have a whole lot to say, but I thought I'd drop a line. Although I don't frequent ST a whole lot anymore, I still visit your CJ as often as I can. I like the variety with some of the overhead BGSs mounted on overpasses. And you're definitely honing your traffic light assembly skills.

Hi Dan, Just stopping in quickly to say that I'm really enjoying these tours. I like the local/express setup on the I-79 bridges. I've started getting more interested in signal assemblies, and I think I can partially credit your CJ for that! Nice downtown map as well; I see a lot of nice details in it.
  4. roundabout exit from highway

A dumbbell (i.e. the first picture, small roundabout on each side) is very possible given the tools we already have. You can make quite an elegant one actually, if you do it right! The large circle--which though popular in Europe and elsewhere only exist in a few places in the US, mostly in the northeast, and IMO are not as efficient as dumbbells--is technically possible with some creative use of the one-way roads, but can look a bit unelegant. I'd show some examples that I've made but all my screenies are on a different computer. I agree, hamsterTK, that these are much better than the standard traffic light/stop sign ramps that we have here. Fortunately, dumbbell interchanges are starting to gain favor with many state DOT's. Unfortunately, the US motoring public seems very resistant to accepting them...

  10. The Massopax River Valley

Hey where was the roadgeek trixie when I had an active CJ... Joking aside, congrats; you certainly deserve it. I missed the finale here, but excellent shield and light assemblies as always. Perhaps this will motivate me to start up a new CJ for the '07 season. I'm hoping to use my new home of southeastern Michigan as inspiration for a different style, but there's this whole "grad school" that's getting in the way.... Dave

So I'm making my first post here in several months just in honor of your return Nice trick to get those pesky highways to generate traffic; I should try that sometime when I get around to playing again. The last couple industrial shots especially were great. Welcome back, glad you're well, and looking forward to much more here.
