  1. Entry 75 -- Hefnall Forest West

I hear that. I've had the same computer for over 9 years. Either it's time for an upgrade of my RAM and video card or time for a new computer altogether. I can run Cities Skylines with some mods and custom content but it's very slow to load and glitchy. I hadn't played it in some time for that reason but have started playing it quite a bit again over the pandemic. I've played some SC4 too but mostly just altering regions I created years ago.

Nice work. Breath-taking. Looking at that makes me feel motivated to play SC4 again or try doing something like that in Cities skylines!
  3. Dakota Rapids

Hi all, Here's an overhead shot focused on downtown Dakota Rapids. We the previous post stopped was just sound of the I-92/US-87 interchange. There are some small towns dotting the rest of the region along with farms just to the north off of US-87 and SR-167. Directly east across the Dakota River is some suburban development as well, centered around the intersection of I-92 Business, SR-42, and SR-167 (Not pictured).
  4. Greetings-- It's been about 10 years since I've posted on here but, over the pandemic, I've gotten re-interested in Cities Skylines and have worked on a few cities, including some companion cities to my past SC4 CJ's (Winchester and the Massopax Piedemont and The Massopax River Valley) which I may post on here, as well. My apologies for the graininess of the pictures -- I have everything set on low settings as I need to upgrade my RAM and video card. Anyhow, I'll be posting from a work in-progress based roughly off of the Black Hills region of South Dakota and Rapid City, but not a recreation by any means. More to come as we head south on US-87 towards the town of Dakota Rapids....
  5. Wow -- glad to see you doing a CJ again and taking full advantage of Cities:Skylines. I liked your realistic rural areas in the past and you're doing some amazing stuff now. It's motivated me to dust off the game and try some of the custom content! -Dan
  6. I've changed from automatic updates to choosing which updates I install because the dang-blasted KB3086255 was installed on my computer overnight despite having deleted it last evening. This was the main reason I downgraded from Windows 10 back to Windows 7. #Ridiculous
  7. I uninstalled the update... does that means it will never be reinstalled again when future Windows updates are installed, or will it be installed during each successive Windows update?
  8. Where does one put in the CD key in Origin to get the free copy of SC4? I tried the "Redeem Product Code" and neither the CD codes from my copies of SC4 or SC4 Rush Hour worked (with or without hyphens). I also attempted to see if there was a place to put the CD key as an option for purchasing SC4, but there wasn't. Am I inputting the CD keys in the wrong place or am I using the wrong codes? I used the codes on the back on my jewel cases. Help would be appreciated!, -Dan
  9. I've missed a few updates, but great stuff. Very interesting and realistic ideas for showing the development of a city, like the land plots. I find it interesting, too, looking at old maps of Northern Virginia, how many of the major roads here today were around as long as 100+ years ago and how they got their names. It's also interesting to see how there were towns that are there no more but how roads have retained the names -- the vestiges live on. Great map-making tutorials as well! I bought Cities Skylines. One day in and am loving it so far -- lots of limitations from SC games are no longer present. Some things, like drawing roads/highways/ramps are much easier and more intuitive, but there are other things about SC4 that I miss, like controlling where traffic signals / stop signs go. All in all better than the last Sim City offerings from (now-defunct) Maxis/EA (e.g. Sim City and Sim City Societies). -Dan
  10. Yikes -- Didn't realize what a problem Prop Pox is. Sorry to hear about your region being compromised. You've had a lot of great Regions over the years, so I'm definitely looking forward to the greatness of what is next -- and this update is a great start!! -Dan
  11. What exactly is prop pox? Is that when the dreaded Maxis "box" appears in place of a prop? Could it be remedied by downloading the correct prop?
  12. Wow -- amazing interchange, I particularly like the clever way that the ramps from I-255 go to I-55/I-80 since Maidens Rd and Holland Lane cause there to be a lack of room. Very realistic and creative. The signs are great -- bonus points for not caving to Clearview like many states have done. Did you make those signs as lots or are they photoshopped in? Either way, they look great. As far as usage of maxis freeways and one-way roads, I must concur. I've been using them in a new region I'm building, particularly in highly-populated areas. I feel they give me more flexibility and take less room than RHW. Though, I do use RHW in other areas -- depends on how much room and how much flexibility I need. Keep up the great work! -Dan
  13. Wow -- I'm excited to see what your sign standard guide is like. Bring on the roadgeekery! If it's of any use, I save my signage blanks in powerpoint and have several templates (e.g. clearview vs. Highway gothic, old vs. new, route numbers/shields, etc.). -Dan
  14. I always enjoy your interchanges -- despite being so close to St. Paul, the interchanges along I-255 are very nicely rural and serene-looking. I was looking at the region map, it looks as if the next interchange to the south, to be completed, on I-255, might be with it's parent route I-55, over the border in Jackson County. Looking further out, I could see a potential for I-680 to be wound up into such an interchange, or maybe a diverging point for I-80 to break off eastward from I-55, to go through St. Peter and the (undeveloped) lands to the east in Lake County. Just some speculation -- I like looking at the road map. Keep up the great work! -Dan
  15. Maybe I'm the only one, but I like the look of the abandoned buildings -- an added layer of unfortunate realism at work in real cities -- and it works well in this area. If you're taking update requests -- I'd love to see some of the rural areas or any updates on the I-680 / I-380 area and/or its progress. -Dan
