Queen songs playing in SC4 (or how to locate and remove sound objects in mods)
timoman posted a topic in SC4 Modding - Open Discussion
Is there any way to find a plugin with a sound object other than simply removing each .dat one by one and restarting the game over and over and over... until you find the one that has the problem? Some sort of object in my Sim City 4 plugins folder is causing Queen songs (We Will Rock You, It's a Kind of Magic) to play in my city. I demolish all the buildings in the (suspected) area of the sound object's source, but it remains until the song is finished. I guess someone added this as a joke in one of their plugins? But it's not funny, it's really annoying and stupid. I have to turn the sound off in-game for around 2 minutes every time. I haven't even downloaded any wierd or obscure mods from other websites, most I get are from the ST Exchange, a few from SC4 Devotion, by well-known creators. If you know who does this so I can remove their plugins, please tell me. -
I did change the filename, from "z____MGB Mods" to "zz_MGB Mods", because in my Plugins folder, the first filename was listed before "z___NAM" I changed it back to the original name, and now it works very strange, maybe must be a quirk of the Windows 10 alphabetical system, and the order in my windows explorer is not necessarily the file order which SimCity 4 sees.

yikes... I removed the sandstone mod in order to show you what I mean; in this picture the only sidewalk/road texture mods are NAM 34 with Euro textures, and the NGN. NGN is loading after NAM in the hierarchy
-
quick question? does tram-in-road, tram-on-street, etc etc puzzle pieces just inherently lack streetlights? they never appear, even with buildings around very dark areas at night

Hi, i really appreciate the effort you put into your road/NAM mods! they make my life a lot easier and my cities a lot prettier. i have a questions about the "No Grass NAM" if you dont mind most of the TuLEPs, and 1 of 2 from the NWM roads still have that nasty grass on them, even though the rest of the network is grass-less as it should be. I'm assuming this is just because the NAM 34 retextured some of the turning lanes since you have made the mod (no big deal), but would installing an earlier version of NAM fix the problem? also -- have you got any recommendations for total, universal "no grass" mods, that would remove it from the vanilla maxis roads and transports? I use your sandstone mod and it looks wonderfully european as long as I dont use the default maxis roads

bugs Simtropolis 9.0.x - Bugs & Issues Report Thread
timoman replied to Cyclone Boom's topic in Simtropolis Related
not sure if this is a bug, or just a poorly implemented feature... but when searching under content "Files", and Fine Results In... is "Content titles and body", results appearing are from text in the comment section. I don't know if this is accidental, or if you consider the "body" to include "comments" (I would think "body" means the description of the file, but thats just me) either way it makes searching a pain because you are going through all kinds of files which have nothing to do with your search term, simply because someone's comment included that term- 1,131 Replies

Are there any tutorials on making my own custom tree controller mod? I want to replace all the maxis trees with already-available props that are currrently only in Mayor-Mode plobbable addons (specifically the SimFox trees and the VIP MMP trees)
-
It seemed so easy, but after I replaced the Oak Tree's RKT1s with the ones for SimFox Maple trees, I get graphical errors throughout my city. I double checked the copy+paste, and double checked that I had his tree props downloaded... maybe I had better head to the Mod request forum...
-
I understand, I can do without seasonal trees. However I'm a bit stuck, as I can't figure out how to find the IDs of SimFox's Tree Pack 2. The iLive Reader has an error and fails to open the .dat file
-
Thanks for the tutorial, very helpful ! How though would I go about making most of the trees seasonal, the RKT4? is that even possible?
-
All of the Simcity China links are broken edit - the problem can be solved by copy+pasting the thread ID where the Xs are: http://www.simcity.cn/thread-XXXX-1-3.html

LRM (Light Replacement Mod) - Support, Development and Discussion
timoman replied to MandelSoft's topic in SC4 Modding - Open Discussion
hi great mod buuuuut after using the custom installer, I can't seem to get your mod to work at all 1. none of the lights that I picked are showing up, instead random other ones are appearing. i checked the installation folder and all of the replacement .dats are exactly as I chose them... 2. the maxis light cones are appearing as big r/g/b rectangles. the darknite cones don't have this problem, but they're too bright for me- 322 Replies

hkabat-forum-threads A Guide to Japanese BAT Hunting
timoman replied to pnorrell's topic in SC4 - Custom Content
APTX uploaded much of his work to the Japanese site Hide and Seek a little over a year ago under the name APTX-2012. Try this link. Not sure if everything is there, but at least a lot of it is. As for the corrupt zip files, many Japanese creators use WinRAR. What program are you using to unzip the files? I'm using WinRAR as well. when I open the archive, all the files seem to be there, but when I attempt to extract I get the 'unexpected end of archive' error -

both of APTX's sites listed here are down again... ygghhh Also: Is it just me or is there a problem with ks's download? I keep getting corrupted zip files that won't extract. I've downloaded with Chrome, Firefox, and Safari multiple times -
I'm modelling+texturing in google sketchup, and exporting as .3ds however upon import in gmax BAT, it encounters an error and must close gmax I've narrowed down the problem to the textures; when I remove all textures it imports just fine into gmax. any idea what I can do to fix this problem? the textures aren't too large or complicated, and when I export I see them in windows explorer next to my model.
-
unfortunately I'm really bad at modelling and texturing in 3dsmax itself, and it wouldn't be worth re-creating what i've done in sketchup already

not sure if this is a bug or another issue, but my industrie isn't developing properly it builds very 'sparsely', for example I zone a 4x5 tile, and only two 1x2 buildings or one 2x3 building will grow, and nothing else it seems like the lot size is broken or something and preventing factories from growing next to each other... -
ENTRY TWO TOKYO, JAPAN 1965 (Showa-40) The mid/late-1960s in Japan are usually referred to as the 'Golden Sixties', representing the continuation of an great economic growth which had started in the 50s. Japan had rebuilt its cities, industry, infrastructure, and technology with astounding speed after the Pacific War. The year before, the Summer Olympics were held in Tokyo, bringing Japan into the international limelight once again. Electric billboards and mid-rise offices spawned by new business and commercialization are beginning their early stages in these years, as you can see. A small retail district with a few apartment buildings. A large view of the business district. The new highway was built to accommodate the tourists of the Olympic Games. (Click the image to enlarge) The business district at night. Another small retail area, a few electric signs light up at night.

Hi, I have SC2000 but I can't figure out how to change tilesets. In my SCURK folder I have '1900.til' and '2050.til', so the tilesets are there, but I can't find the option to switch from the default to those. Maybe there's a button I'm missing or something, but I don't see it in any of the menus...
-
it says 'SimCity 2000 Special Edition'....
-
It's special edition, and I have it. running it through DOSBox
-
seriously this is extremely annoying i've been trying to figure out how to use that feature for like 5 days now
