Nightpics of Shuijing wan
Eclipticalstorm commented on Skimbo's City Journal Entry in Dragon Islands Cities
I love this city journal! I keep seeing those retaining wall stairs and ramps in a lot of your pics. What is the name of them and where can I find them. I've always wanted them, but can never seem to find them. -
The Valley of the Shadow of Uncertainty
Eclipticalstorm commented on bluemoose's City Journal Entry in The Laughing Moose Showcase
I think making that valley an industrial might have some environmental "blow back" in the future. I'm willing to bet that valley drains directly into the adjacent river, which means all the contaminants those factors produce will end up in the river. Perhaps the hills are lined with homes and the central portion of the valley becomes green space. -
Selbring City | Toxic Air
Eclipticalstorm commented on Huston's City Journal Entry in Selbring County
That is the sickest photo I've ever seen!!! (It's a good thing!) -
This really isn't a classic case of gentrification. In this case I think the best thing to do is to demolish the factories and provide a small police precinct in the area. If you like the charm of those smaller buildings you can make the buildings historic before you begin revamping the factories. Making those buildings should also add value to the local neighborhood. In a sense, I reckon it would be a historic district.

Looks great! If you can plop ever building in your city, NWM and RHW are relatively straight forward. I've noticed the best way to get RHW to look right is to sketch it out and then try to build it. The more familiar you become with the pieces the better your highways will turn out. By the way, if you plop every building in your city, how do you get people to live there? (I thought it wasn't possible to plop residential buildings)

Moritz - St. Gallen Basel-Belp Int.
Eclipticalstorm commented on Amerikaner's City Journal Entry in United Kingdoms of Vercelli
This is one of the best airports I've ever seen!!! I really admire the wide flowers and weeds growing in runway medians, it really helps to seamlessly bend the airport with the landscape. Do you plop your trees or use a tree controller; if so which one do you use? -
Update 1 - If You Like RealHighWay You Will Like This!
Eclipticalstorm commented on Exla357's City Journal Entry in Terra Nova - UUOS
Typically, I don't comment on CJ content, but your comment and the end of the update convinced me otherwise! The use of those FAR piece make the interchange look extremely realistic. Great update!!! -
Winchester: IFL All Star Game bid
Eclipticalstorm commented on k50's City Journal Entry in New Chandler III
Parking is very important in an area like this, but the vast expanse of concrete would cause the area to look more like a concrete jungle than a multimillion dollar complex. I suggest you construct some or all of the apartments. Then in ideal locations construct entrances to an underground parking complex. The nice thing about it is they take up little space and parking lots can be however large you need them to be. There should be some underground parking garages floating around on the STEX. Hope that helps and good luck. -
I tried to install the new Nam update and it did not go well. I uninstalled the old Nam and installed the new one, but the real highway update said nothing about uninstalling the rural highway mod, so I left it in there. I started the game and none of the new features worked. It would show a red arrow or say the piece was missing. I tried to uninstall the old NAM and RHW, installed the new NAM and Real Highway Mod, and ran the game. Problem is the same thing happened with the red arrows and missing pieces. I read the NAM before I installed it and thought I followed the directions correctly. The worse part about it was I had RTMT, DAMN, SAM, STR, HSR, and a host of custom bridges, which are all installed through NAM. When I uninstalled the old NAM I think it took all of those guys with it. In short, I am so frustrated with it I have not even tried to fix it. I wonder is there a way to recover old folder structures. Please help!!!

Corrupt Region, Anyway To Recover it?
Eclipticalstorm replied to Dannibee's topic in SC4 Bugs & Technical Issues
I have had that happen before and it can be very frustrating. recently I have discovered you can sometimes save your region by deleting the last city you worked in. This is great if it was some farmlands out in the country, but sucks if it was your downtown. All you have to do is go into the regions folder in the Simcity my docs folder and delete that city's name. If you delete anything else you will lose more cities, so be careful. Hope this works out for you and good luck! -
GRL can't go under HSR. I don't know why. I was trying to figure out this same thing about six months ago and realized there was not a piece for that.

Underground rail stations?
Eclipticalstorm replied to WeBuiltThisCityOnSimCity's topic in NAM & Transit Networks
Oh my!!!! I have just discovered a wealth of information. Personally, I like the underground rail but my biggest complaint is underground lines can't intersect one another. I'm not talk about a full blown underground intersection, just a small four way intersection. Now that I think about a full blown underground intersection would not be so bad. Anyway can't wait for the new stations to come out. In the meantime I guess the Warsaw station will have to work. -
Krisman where did you get those aircraft hangers? I saw them on the STEX before but I can't find them for the life of me now.

Smartest sims around but also the least paid???
Eclipticalstorm replied to A-Train's topic in SimCity 4 General Discussion
I had this same problem about a year ago. It started with my main largest city and since that city was being support by the adjacent cities they entire regions economy collapsed. I never figured out how to fix it and scrapped the region. -
You can do some of the U drive it missions and get better power plants. I think the monorail mission unlocks solar power and the evil ice cream mission unlocks nuclear power plants. To get the hydrogen power plant you need area 5.1 and you have to do the evil jet mission, but I have never really been able to unlock Area 5.1.

Well at least we know any fan sites will need more bandwidth for the "game oddities" section!

I am up in arms over the whole debacle. I don't even think my computer is capable of running cities xl. If I read correctly it says you need 1.5GB of Ram, and I only have 512MB. Then I have to run the game and the internet at the same time! If cities xl is anything like simcity 4 that is going to be a slow mess! But hey I still like what I see with the game. I really want to get it, but financially it is just unattainable right now.

The reason people will not use you bus stops and parking decks is because they are high wealth residents and they will not ride the bus. The power plant the exploded will take...I think something like 10,000 or a 100,000 years to go away. You can dezone the side of town and plant trees, but the radiation process will still take a long time to leave. I am suprised high wealth residents are interested in your city given the radiation. Oh yeah, if you use the super demand modd when you go to another city you will have to activate the command there as well or you demand will fall super low (when city's are connected they share economic demands values).

Real Highway (RHW) - Development and Support
Eclipticalstorm replied to qurlix's topic in NAM & Transit Networks
My rural highways show up when I am in mayor mode but when I go to the regional map I can't see them on the trasportation menu. Is there a way for me to be able to them in that mode. (I have the default regional map colors)- 3,919 Replies

The worst building in the world
Eclipticalstorm replied to tcx's topic in Architecture & Urban Planning
Now I agree Corbu's architectual spaces where not very inviting or attractive, but when you observe the theory behind his work it is quite amazing. Corbu was concerned with reducing the ecological footprint left by large cities, and his idea was to reduce urban sprawl by zoning areas of high density. At the same time underneath the biuling would be an array of pilars to elevate structures and provide space for plazas and mixed use zoning. -
The worst building in the world
Eclipticalstorm replied to tcx's topic in Architecture & Urban Planning
I agree with you 100%! The space does not respond to its surrounding areas, and in my personal book, that is equal to failure. The space is glass on all sides meaning if you office is on the south side of the building your going to die from the heat around high noon.
