Maximum taxes having no effect on low demand abandonment
Jamonbread replied to Nielsen's topic in SimCity 4 General Discussion
That's interesting I have never tried raising them all to 20%... I often do that to stop high wealth as I find the lots super ugly and true I don't think they are ever abandoned but they do redevelop to a lower class. Maybe this is the extent of high taxes. If thats true just raise taxes to the max when you are growing and rake in the dough... thats an oversight for sure. So if I understand correctly you raised commercial as well? -

Hello! I am trying to build a complex 'L' system using maxis elevated rail and am hoping some people will have lot suggestions as I don't usually do this type of transit. I have NAM and el over road and double decker elevated rail but stations... especially on top of roads are certainly hard to find. I found the ashland/wells station but it is super buggy so much that ive decided unless theres some patch floating around I cannot use it. Anyway, any file names or links would be super appriciated! Have a good one

I agree with dance1211 I'm pretty concerned about this since all I play is large city tiles anymore but they did say it will be as big as a medium tile in SC4 but also regions will be 4 cities large if i remember correctly which is well... horrible. To all the BAT designers... get to work creating industry that isnt grossly cartoonish and from 200 years ago The community will have to heavily mod I think.

I agree with ssr2. For off grid to work well they reallllllly needed to generate buildings procedurely with the lot footprint. I had the impression before this that might happen and was the only thing in terms of graphics that I thought might make the difference between SC5 and citiesXL. Its nice to have off grid and curved roads but if you have mega wide awkward gaps cause all buildings are square then I don't feel I'm able to use the feature properly. It seems that theyve overlooked the graphical failures of both citiesXL and simcity societies. Theyre gameplay is on the right track but the visual remains in the past I find.

It seems to me he wants to extend the maxis highway to termination at hwy 24 so the custom proposals don't address a full interchange option or overpass at Flynn road. But since theres so many interchanges around I would choose maartens plan and just terminate Flynn road. -

I assume he overwrited the nuclear modd to be garbage free modd since new ordinances are impossible to create. However the process in which this must be done because of the no previous modds and zero buildings does not inspire a great deal of confidence it won't bug something up I will agree. I actually find something like this useful as I've been here awhile and never seen a no garbage mod and it's the one thing that I hate to add into my metropolises because my neighbor deals crash my game.

Ocean Quigley on why Single Player in SC2013 requires an internet connection
Jamonbread commented on warrior's article in News
That's all fine and well, but none of my friends play the game (we are going to need simtropolis regions) and i like creating regions by myself. I dont want farmland to come to a dead straight line against a metropolis or depend on some idiot stranger beside my city. There are ways around this even keeping a global economy as its focus. The game could regularly "save" the state of the economy every once and a while and if the internet goes or you leave a connection it can stay stagnant until the next time you connect. Blah! This post by ocean makes me nervous -
Discussion about Always-On Connection to Origin
Jamonbread replied to neurokirurgi's topic in SimCity (2013) General Discussion
I don't understand how it is that difficult to make the game offline which is what frustrates me the most about this news. The other thing is EA must maintain servers for this game and is therefore life support for the game. With the numbers still playing sc4 it would have become extinct years ago because well the active and eager small groups still playing would not be worth it for them. This is why above all without offline support where we can continue to build and enhance the game to a degree say of sc4 the whole series will die a painful death if this remains true. When I buy a game, I want to buy it... especially for their prices. Not rent it and have everything disapear when the cityville crowd rolls out
