15 pointsこの物語はここに終わり。 Major announcement at the bottom of this entry. Please read it, thank you. --- There’s a weird feeling when the journey has reached its end. In the beginning, you start out small and careful, thinking of the great things that you could do someday. However, as you move forward towards your dream, that bright light of the future begins to dim. Like a flow of a river, the once raging currents slow into a meander. What now could be of use now that we have almost reached the end? Will the journey continue across the vast oceans? I thought I would have to share this story about my friend who had reached his end about a week or two ago. I don't know what exactly happened with him, but I could still not believe that he is gone. I feel the urge to move on, but I can't seem to do so without him. With all my strength I must tell it to you. Would you mind hearing me out for a couple of minutes? "Yes," Rairen responds. "I feel bad that we are about to lose Shigetomo this sudden. There is much adventure that he had going for him." He turned his head toward the Buddha and started to chant the nembutsu. Naotaka looked on as Rairen begins his ritual, eventually joining him in prayer. As the two finished their prayers, Naotaka turned towards Rairen to tell his story. "A few weeks ago..." *UPDATE SONG* http://picosong.com/rqAj *UPDATE SONG* --- “So where are we exactly?” replied Shigetomo, looking left and right to the various building geometries in an intersection. An electronic screen billboard that was left on by the signage advertising agency caught him with its flashing white lights, displaying the mysterious message “WILD WILD WILD” to him. Below this electronic billboard is a dimly lighted entrance of a train station. Shigetomo initially did not agree to come with him at the station, since he was still finishing his work at the Ministry of Transport. After his co-worker insisted him to come, Shigetomo agreed to excuse himself from work and told the new Minister for transport that he will be away for a little bit to become a chaperon for his friend. They got on a limited express train bound for Kanaizawa at the Okami terminal but stopped immediately at a station located west of the city. “Kanda,” replied a co-worker with a smug on his face. His hands are placed in his suit pocket and had been touching something. Shigetomo thought that the person is a little perplexed, and his hands were visibly trembling inside his pocket. He believed that since this was a new area unfamiliar with them, it is natural for him to be a little frightened on what would happen to them. Shigetomo asked if he is alright, but the coworker smiled and asked if he could sit down beside the station's ticket machine. It took more than five minutes before his coworker came out of the washroom. "There you are," Shigetomo uttered with an increasingly impatient look. "So (redacted name), what brings us to Kanda today?" Shigetomo inquired. The coworker seemed to have reacted differently with a frightening glance. Shigetomo then noticed something strange about the area. The canopy had been built, but there are no stores open. What should have been a busy shopping area (Kanda is usually teeming with shoppers during the day) is replaced by people who he may not want to talk to. Quite spontaneously, Shigetomo notices that something is not right. On the other end of Kanda lies a Buddhist temple of the Tendai sect. As the priests and monks of the temple prepare for their Shojin Ryouri (Vegetarian Dinner) for the evening, an ominous bang was heard throughout the temple. At first, the monks were mesmerized to see what had happened but 3, 4, 5, and many more bangs later, they realized what had going on. Chaos had descended just before the sun sets in the background. ("I don't know what to say, Rairen," replied Naotaka. "You need to hang on. I know it's difficult but I am all here for you," Rairen answered.) At Kanda, things were as grim as the overcast skies that were above Okami that day. A major gang battle had gone between two rival factions that I myself do not know the details of. The two were hit in the crossfire. The coworker was hit in the head and was laying unconscious in the tiled alleyway with his head bleeding. Shigetomo was hit in the stomach but was still able to leave the area in horror. He ran towards the temple seeking for help, not knowing that he was mortally wounded. Soon, he became dizzy and eventually lose consciousness in front of the temple. Before he lost his consciousness he uttered "Nao-taka," and that was when the Tendai priests took his mobile phone and called the emergency contact. --- "Now, the government had asked me to be a liaison for Shigetomo while they are in charge of his health. However, doctors have told me that he would not be able to survive it since it damaged his liver and one of the bullets had lodged in his spine," Naotaka mentioned to Rairen while tears are flowing. "In a way, I would not be able to see him anymore." Rairen comforts Naotaka and provides him solace while they wait for the news. The news came at around six o'clock in the afternoon. Honda Shigetomo is dead. --- Naotaka had a difficult time digesting the grim news, but in the end they managed to compose themselves and take the body for its immediate burial at the temple in Okami. It was a disappointing end to his short adventures around Okaiken, and Naotaka is left alone in the middle of the journey. A few days later, Naotaka had lost most of his motivation, asking the public school that he is working at for a leave of absence so that he could attend Shigetomo's burial. He boards a train bound for Kanda. Skies continued to be grim during that day. As the train passed over a road, Naotaka noticed that it had been mostly desolate, with only one to two cars traversing the avenue. It feels like something was not right in the district at all, as if the people suddenly disappears. At a nearby temple in Igawara (Kotai-ji), where Shigetomo's lifeless body is interred, a monk prepares to embalm his body when he noticed that there is something that is unusual. He found a functioning watch that he kept in back pocket. In the watch, the clock is set at 4:29 in the afternoon, which is unusual since it is already close to seven o'clock in the afternoon. The priest corrects the time to the usual time and suddenly, Shigetomo's body seemed to disappear out of nowhere. At the edge of Kanda on an AirBNB stay, Naotaka was informed about the timepiece according to the priest. He advised the priest to keep it under the temple's ownership as he was not named as the beneficiary of Shigetomo. He had been thinking if he should even pick up his body for burial, but he knows that as his best friend, Shigetomo would not be happy in the end when they reach The Pure Land. The grim days continued for Naotaka. By Saturday, he had been always seeking his sect for emotional help. He had considered suicide but he remembered from Ichijoudani not to kill himself as he promised Shigetomo that he is going to live in a future without him. He returned to Shigetomo's Okami apartment to gather Shigetomo's personal belongings. At first he did not know it due to the rows of houses that dominate over the area. However, seeing this exercise before he managed to find his apartment. The landlord had given him keys for 3 days so he can package and send Shigetomo's belongings to either him or Rairen. Naotaka complied and began to one by one sort through his belongings. While unpacking a box that contained Shigetomo's work at the ministry, Naotaka found a small gear on the timepiece. It seemed to have fit into one of the missing gears on the timepiece. On another box that came from their souvenir trip at Onjuku, he found another one that would have completed the timepiece. Naotaka was in awe and decided to call the temple if he can have Shigetomo's timepiece. The temple agreed, and Naotaka bolted out of the apartment building and towards the temple. Naotaka's feelings began to improve. He called Rairen in order for them to meet at the Tendai-sect temple. Kanda, however, was still in a state of trauma after the battle, and many streets were lacking people. The temple was on sight. However, in a wicked twist of fate, they found the temple surrounded by yellow tape. "Why is it surrounded by police?" Naotaka asked the policeman who was guarding the property. "The police is currently investigating the head monk of the temple as the instigator of a gambling ring that may have caused two gang factions to fight," muttered the police. Naotaka seemed to have lost hope into recovering the timepiece. In tears, he kept the gears onto his chest and prayed for the safe passage of Shigetomo. Rairen never heard of Naotaka again after the incident. He had regret not helping Naotaka recover from his depression, and he may have believed that he had died. In truth, no one knows what happened to him until I met him at Ninohe. I had recently checked the school that he works on and he's not there anymore. They said that he had moved to Chino, a rural village near his hometown of Ichijoudani to work at the prefectural office. At Chino, locals said that Shigetomo had left the town after three years work at the town office. According to officials, Naotaka said that he moved to Ninohe to work as a tourism promoter of the area, but they were not sure if he is still employed there. It was a chance that I would finally see him at Ninohe. I finally met him at a ramen-ya. He seemed to have fully adopted a normal, happy life with his new wife and his young boy that he called "Tomo" when we sat down together. When we settled down I told him that I work at the Nikkan Shinbun. He seems surprised that I had determined where he lives as he did not really tell anyone, even his friend, about his whereabouts. I told him "I was here as part of an investigation about corruption at the City of Okami," and asked, "do you know this timepiece?" I showed him the device and he was stunned to see it. He frantically searched for the two gears and then found them in a small, locked wooden case. "May I borrow that?" he said. He ran towards the jewelry shop across the street with his family and asked the man to quickly repair the watch. After he fixed it he told his wife and child about the timepiece and then gave it to me. He seemed to have finally be settled in peace. After the interview to him was finished, he told me to keep the timepiece and discover the meaning of life through it. I was intrigued to try it so I am going to do it tonight. "The train rolled by as I began to wind the timepiece on its correct time. And then he disappeared," Naotaka states. "Thank you, Shigetomo, for bringing me to a life that I am happy with. It may not be the pure land, but it's a start of a new life that I am happy with. I will fight on without you!" Naotaka shed tears as he remembers his adventures with Shigetomo. It is time to move on and cheer. --- Shigetomo had woken up back in an army camp near the Ichijoudani River. It was just before the Seige of the Castle begins but could not determine if they had won or not. He looked at the reflection of himself into the river and saw that he had been wounded and had bandages around his stomach. "My lord, you are still not healed yet," replied one of his assistants. "We found you in front of the castle by yourself trying to make negotiations with Naotaka but then you were shot. I thought that you were about to die so we sent our forces to retake the castle." "Naotaka, where's Naotaka?" Shigetomo asked in panic. "Hotta Muneshige had captured him. He awaits your orders." Immediately after that, even in pain, he ran towards Muneshige's camp at Mount Hiei. There he found a group of farmer's houses. It was becoming increasingly foggy as the elevation becomes higher but Shigetomo, even in utmost pain, climbed towards the house. As he reached it, he asked for both Hotta, who was about to finish his breakfast, and Naotaka, who is still tied up. "Naotaka." Naotaka did not respond as if his spirit was taken away from him. "Muneshige, taking his sword, suddenly took his sword and... Shigetomo watched in horror of what had happened. He can be heard screaming Muneshige on top of his lungs. He then slumped to the floor. A sailor from an Insular navy had just landed in the Mitoyagi Islands setting his sights into new opportunities in Okaiken regarding diplomacy. He had hoped that a new deal with his nation would materialize with the new bakufu government at Okami. Dignitaries from the bakufu had already boarded the vessel for exchange of information about shipbuilding. Initially, the captain refused but eventually accepted. "We want you to sign a deal collaborating with other sovereign nations of the world," said the captain. "We agree," responded by the dignitaries on the ship. As the sailor walked through Kanda, he saw two heads that were displayed on the gate of the temple. He did not know the two but they seemed to have a high status of power because of their hairstyle or the helmets. A black helmet adorned with deer antlers can be seen to the left of one head; the other, a red helmet with tall yellow horns can be seen to the right of the other head. The citizens were seemingly interested with the beheaded officials. Most of them kept mum, some were in tears. At one of the temples, they were seemingly busy with burning the bodies in order for them to turn it to ashes. A lot of people were also near the area, curious about what is going on inside the temple. The sailor asked to himself "If the new bakufu government is installed, that means that those two were part of the previous bakufu?" The sailor continued to travel around the district to see the disappointed faces of the majority as the new shogun of Mitoyagi takes over. Streets were becoming emptier as soldiers begin to secure the city against supporters of the previous shogunate. Evening fell, and the sailor closed his eyes in one of the local ryokans that are dominant in ancient Okami. --- At Ichijoudani, the head priest begin to chant the nembutsu. It's the start of the Futarigyo Festival where the priests mourn the dead of the past and celebrate the future. The river continues to flow through the town and its contents spilled over to the vast oceans. Here lies a spot where the pain ends and an optimistic future begins. Even though the two's journey had been cut short, It gave us the time to reflect on what is possible and what is not. It was the graves of Ii "Bizen no Kami" Naotaka and Honda "Izumo no Kami" Shigetomo. "Thank you for hearing out our stories," said Rairen. --- Thank you for reading the update! I hope that you enjoy the journey that we had today regarding our main characters. I know it's a little bit depressing to see their fates sealed in a small timepiece that had distorted time it was also great seeing their adventure unfold over the past two years. It had been my passion to see the characters and the storytelling and the city building grow into complete fruition. It had been my mouthpiece when I am interested in a topic or become interested in things that I want to have a say on. It was fun to interact with friends and viewers of the journal to see what could be done and what was done better. I would like to give you my gratitude for being there with me. And now, time for the sad news. I have decided to shut down Okaiken. While it may seem fun at first, recent events in my real life mean that my time in this journal has passed and it is time for me to move on into other endeavours. It feels like for me, I had been travelling alone for too long and I had lost a lot of friends like what you saw in the journal update later. It feels like if I keep straddling the same road I won't be able to recover anything. I must take a different road now. When I last did a farewell message in 2011 I was optimistic with what would happen next. I got what I had wanted back then, I managed to put Okaiken in USNW while participating in Queensferry's Wars; A Thousand Words was published after 20-some chapters and it got solved; finally, The Times of Troix remained open as a functioning community newspaper that it even won a Trixie! My heartfelt thanks to all of you guys! Okaiken took me to the craziest of places, introduced me to my Japanese friends and the Japanese language and my passion with landscape architecture and city planning as well as even Asian history. Without it, I could have wondered where I may ended up... Anyway, time for the final replies of the journal! @JP Schriefer Thank you for being a regular visitor of the journal. I hope you enjoyed the last 5 years of it. Happy New Year to You! @raynev1 Thank you so much for visiting the journal and supporting it along the way. That film with the boxer was although non-understandable was about fulfilling dreams. Once again, thank you so much and I hope to see you around! @MeMyself&I Thank you for the compliments! And yes, I can answer that question for you. The composer is Toshiyuki Watanabe. He had composed great, original soundtracks and classical music pieces in Japan. Didn't know if he's that big elsewhere but he's capable of conducting really beautiful music for anime, TV shows and movies. There's Joe Hisaishi (if you want Ghibli soundtracks), Yoko Kanno (composer that did this beautiful update music), Takayuki Hattori, Akira Senju, Kenji Kawai, Tomita Isao, Shinichiro Ikebe, etc. Lots LOL @Ln X You have been such a wonderful regular of this journal, and I would like to thank you for your support! 7 pointsHow to use Wine with SimCity4Deluxe, NAM, Modding Tools **ATTENTION: Recently began having problems with Ubuntu Gnome 16.04 and SimCity4. After an update, the game would only run in software mode. I have done a lot of digging to try to find the exact cause, but so far no luck. I have gone back to Ubuntu Gnome 14.04 until this gets fixed. About ten years ago I made Ubuntu my only OS, after dual booting with XP for about a year. I had only one regret, I could not get SC4D to run in Wine. I tried a few times over the next few years but still had no luck. Then a couple of years ago I decided to dig in and get it running. My first success came with the help of PlayOnLinux, finally! I used this setup until, recently, I decided to try working directly with Wine without the extra layer of PlayOnLinux. So I dug a little more and eventually I gathered most of the info I was looking for on the interweb. Much of this was, things I didn't know I needed to know, until I knew them. Now, I had a lot of info, but some bits seemed to contradict other bits, so I began to develop a repeatable, controllable, procedure that would allow me to test a defined set up, document it, rinse and repeat. The process I settled on, exposed the unreliable information, but gave rise to more questions. I dug around, got some more bits, and started again. This time it all came together. Eventually, I settled on a kind of combination set-up method using wine / winetricks / wine tools. I'm more of a nuts and bolts kinda guy,so this satisfies me. There are other ways to achieve the same results, and I may tackle them some time, but for now, I am concentrating on using this method to install SimCity4Deluxe and some of the modding tools. As a part of the testing process I developed sets of instructions, so I could repeat a particular set-up, exactly the same, multiple times. After using them for awhile, I decided they were solid and they might be helpful to other people. So I edited them into a more readable format and added some, (I hope), helpful information. Currently, I have finished these; ∘Wine How To - Install Current Stable Wine ∘ Wine How To - Install SimCity4Deluxe (plus updates) ∘ Wine How To - Install NAM ∘ Wine How To - Install GoFSH ∘ Wine How To - Install Gmax Extended ∘ Wine How To - Install ILive Reader 1.4 ∘ Wine How To - Install SC4-PIM X ***(Currently this will install and load but does not run as it should.) Credits: Most of the information I gathered was from WineHQ, Winetricks, Ubuntu forums, SC4Devotion forums, Simtropolis forums, many sage postings by 'A Nonny Moose' (found these everywhere), along with bits from numerous Linux editorials.

6 pointsSorry for thread bumping and mass quoting but I've been mostly away from SC4 for the last year. Sometime back in like 2013 I investigated what Lowkee was working on a little bit, and I actually got seasonal terrain textures working. You guys nailed it hypothetically. I took the Columbus mod, messed with the values of the Weather Tuning Parameters exemplar, and was able to get enough moisture variation between the seasons to change the terrain textures visibly: You can see the ground is a little more yellow in the winter and greener in the summer. And of course with a more specialized terrain mod, this difference could be even more noticeable. Now the problem is that I definitely don't remember what parameters I messed with and I didn't document anything. So I'm attaching the exemplar file, and anyone who wants to can compare it with an original copy to see what's been modified. Perhaps we can make a proper seasonal terrain mod out of this after all. Thanks for re-opening this idea up last year@CorinaMarie Seasons Switcher.dat

5 pointsI'm not sure it would have been a problem really. Assuming the textures for the seasons are the same size, they wouldn't take any more power to show at different times of year. The only thing that utilises the CPU is the moisture part which seemingly is running behind the scenes anyhow. I think in truth they had much bigger plans for this feature but simply were not able to finish it in time. Since it wasn't a priority, it got cut. I'm imaging something like water contributing to "fertile" areas, more suited to farming.

4 pointsHooks Bay's main gas power plant. Its maintained by a national gas company called: Natuur Aardgas Maatschappij. By the vastness and the raw amount of power generated at this complex, a lot of manufacturing industries are thriving on the power-plant's labour/ resource pool.

4 pointsInstall GoFSH This document describes installing GoFSH and Bender into a 32bit wine prefix on Ubuntu or Ubuntu/Gnome 14.04. It will likely work on other flavours, but I have not tried any, yet. You will need GoFSH Package_2.9.6.msi and the following dependencies Dependencies: NetFx20SP2_x86.exe - (.Net 2.0 SP2) Download from microsoft NetFx20SP2_x86.exe can be installed with Add/Remove Programs: Enter the following command in a Terminal env WINEPREFIX=~/.wine-GoFSH wine control this will create a newwine prefix .wine-GoFSH and it will open the Wine Control Panel within the .wine-GoFSH prefix Open Add/Remove Programs Click Install Navigate to the location of NetFx20SP2_x86.exe Select the NetFx20SP2_x86.exe file and follow the prompts this will install DotNet2.0SP2-x86 into your windows environment in .wine-GoFSH. (To see the new entry in the program list you have to close Add/Remove Programs and then re-open it) Keep Add/Remove Programs open to install GoFSH Package_2.9.6.msi Click Install Navigate to the location of GoFSH Package_2.9.6.msi Select the GoFSH Package_2.9.6.msi file and follow the prompts this will install GoFSH into your windows environment in .wine-GoFSH (To see the new entry in the program list you have to close Add/Remove Programs and then re-open it) You can now close Add/Remove Programs and also Wine Control Panel and the Terminal In my case GoFSH / Bender did not create menu items under Wine so I used alacarte to make them. It did create a Desktop shortcut and a .lnk file (on the Desktop), but I don't want them there so...click....click..gone. Return to Top Post

4 pointsInstall NAM This document describes installing the Network Addon Mod (NAM) into a 32bit wine prefix. Tested on - Ubuntu/Gnome 14.04 - Ubuntu/Gnome 16.04 It will likely work on other flavours not listed yet. I tried to write this in a way that everyone could be successful, even the novice. You will need the NetworkAddonMod Setup 35.exe Important Note: If you did not use my instructions for installing SC4D then you will need to change the prefix name in the Wine command below, instead of .wine-SC4D, use the prefix name you created. If you did not create a new prefix then you are using the default prefix (.wine). If you used the default prefix then you can eliminate the prefix designation (ie: env WINEPREFIX=~/.wine-SC4D) and just use the command portion (ie: wine control). NetworkAddonMod Setup 35.exe can be installed with Add/Remove Programs: Enter or Copy/Paste the following command in a Terminal env WINEPREFIX=~/.wine-SC4D wine control this will open the Wine Control Panel within the .wine-SC4D prefix Open Add/Remove Programs Click Install Navigate to the location of NetworkAddonMod Setup 35.exe Select the NetworkAddonMod Setup 35.exe file Click - Next Click - I Agree Click - Next In the Setup Type dialog, you have a few choices. If you know exactly what you want, select away. If you are not sure, select the Complete Standard Installation. You can rerun the installer and add/remove later. The rest of the instructions assume you selected the Complete Standard Installation. Click - Next Click - Install Select OK to run Cleanitol Select Quit to return to the install When the dialog comes up to tell you the compiler failed Click - OK ( We will fix this at the end) When the Finish dialog comes up, there are two check boxes. The top one will install the Traffic Simulator Configuration Tool. Make your choice and Click - Finish If you chose to install the Traffic Simulator Configuration Tool Click - Next Select - I Agree Click - Next Click - Next to use the default directory If asked, Click - Yes to create the destination directory Click - Start Click - Next Click Exit A language selection dialog will pop up, and your browser with the read me page displayed. Alt+Tab to the laguage selection dialog Make your language selection and Click - OK Now you should have the Traffic Simulator Configuration Tool opened on your desktop and likely a Introduction page on top of it. Have a read and Click - OK to close the Introduction page. Click - OK to accept the Loaded values The use of this tool is beyond the scope of this instruction sheet. There is good documentation by the NAM Team and help on the Simtropolis and SCDevotion forums. (you might even run into a NAM Team member there). Click - Exit to close the Traffic Simulator Configuration Tool Keep Add/Remove Programs open to run the Compiler (this is the fix referred to earlier) Click Install Navigate to the folder ' My Documents/SimCity 4/NAM Auxiliary Files/Tools/Controller Compiler/ ' Use the Files of type drop down menu (bottom of window) to select All files(*.*) Use the button at the top, right of the window to change to List view Now hover your mouse over the divider between the File and Size columns until you get the double arrow, then click and drag to the right until you expose the complete file names in the File column. 4 pointsInstall SC4Deluxe (CD Version) in Wine This document describes installing SC4Deluxe into a 32bit wine prefix. Tested on - Ubuntu/Gnome 14.04 - Does not like windowed mode - Ubuntu/Gnome 16.04 - Currently testing in windowed mode (so far so good) It will likely work on other flavours not listed yet. I tried to write this in a way that everyone could be successful, even the novice. Important Note: If you are using Ubuntu 14.04 or older - When you finish this process and go to launch SC4D, close all other programs first, SC4D will not play nice with other processes running. When it starts up, it will be in the background, wait a minute and then Alt+Tab to bring it to the foreground. You will need your SC4Deluxe discs and, (optionally), the following updates UPDATE_SKU1_TO_P1_B638.EXE SC4Update4BAT.exe Create a folder (SC4DELUXE1) on your Desktop. Now copy all the files from Disc 1 into your new Desktop folder. **( I recently experienced a problem with brown boxes and could not fix it with known solutions. After a lot of investigation, I discovered my Desktop copy of Disc 1 was corrupted. I expect this was caused by me copying it to several partitions for testing) Do not put Disc 2 into CD drive until the installer requests it Enter the following command in a Terminal env WINEPREFIX=~/.wine-SC4D wine control this will create a newwine prefix.wine-SC4D and open the Wine Control Panel within the .wine-SC4D prefix Open Add/Remove Programs Click Install Navigate to setup.exe in the SC4DELUXE1 folder on your Desktop Select the setup.exe file Click Install when the SC4 window comes up Enter your code from the CD case when prompted Install to the default directory Register later Likely the progress bar will not work but the current action displays as normal The first disc will install very quickly because it is installing from your hard drive When the dialog comes up Insert Disc 2 put the disc in your drive and wait for one minute so the disc has a chance to register with the system Click OK The disc will take significantly longer to load Be patient - it is working When the Install dialog disappears SC4 is installed Keep Add/Remove Programs open to install UPDATE_SKU1_TO_P1_B638.EXE and SC4Update4BAT.exe This part is completely optional if all you want to play is vanilla SC4D. If you plan on installing the NAM you will need - UPDATE_SKU1_TO_P1_B638.EXE If you want to install the TELotFix or plan on doing some modding you will need - SC4Update4BAT.exe These must be installed in this order Click Install Navigate to the location of UPDATE_SKU1_TO_P1_B638.EXE Select the UPDATE_SKU1_TO_P1_B638.EXE file and follow the prompts this will install UPDATE_SKU1_TO_P1_B638.EXE into your windows environment in .wine-SC4D Click Install Navigate to the location of SC4Update4BAT.exe Select the SC4Update4BAT.exe file and follow the prompts this will install SC4Update4BAT.exe into your windows environment in .wine-SC4D You can now close Add/Remove Programs and also Wine Control Panel and the Terminal Return to Top Post

4 pointsInstall Current Stable Wine Tested on - Ubuntu/Ubuntu Gnome 14.04 - Ubuntu/Ubuntu Gnome 16.04 - Ubuntu 18.04 It will likely work on other flavours not listed yet. If you are familiar with the command line, you can skip the next two paragraph. This process involves using the terminal to enter and execute commands. You can carefully type in the commands, verbatim, and hit 'Enter', or, you can carefully copy & paste each command and hit 'Enter'. Did I mention, carefully?! Be particularly mindful of spaces and spelling. Though, if you were to make some small typo you might get some unexpected results, but not likely anything serious. Most likely, the Terminal would print out an error and, possibly, tell you what you did wrong. Open a Terminal from your Menu or type Ctrl+Alt+T. When you open the terminal, note that, the cursor is resting next to a line of text, usually containing your computer name/user name and ending with a dollar sign($). This is a standard prompt (yours may look different depending on your system). To execute commands you must hit 'Enter'. When you execute a command, the prompt will not be available during the execution process. The prompt will return when the process is completed. When you are asked to enter your password on the command line, there is no visual feedback so, keep track in your head as you type. Tip: When at the command prompt, the UP Arrow will recall previously entered commands. There are many ways to install and use Wine. These instructions reflect the way I've chosen. Hopefully it will get you started. Install Current Wine Stable: Go to WineHQ and follow the latest instructions for your distro. winecfg ∘ This command will create a .wine folder (default prefix) within your Home folder and set up a basic windows environment within it. ∘ Be patient, it is running ∘ You will get a dialog indicating wine is installing ∘ You will get a dialog stating you need wine-mono, Click 'Install' ∘ You will get a dialog stating you need wine-gecko, Click 'Install' ∘ When the 'Wine configuration' window comes up, Change the 'Windows Version' dropdown to 'WindowsXP'. ∘ Click 'Apply' then 'OK' You can now exit from the terminal. (Type exit, hit 'Enter') Open Nautilus (Files), making sure you are in the Home folder, now hit Ctrl+H to show hidden files. At the bottom of the window you will see a folder .wine , as I said earlier, this contains a basic windows environment. You can add capability to this environment by adding various types of 'system files', in fact, many windows programs will require it. One way to add these 'system files' is with Winetricks. You now have Wine installed and the default prefix (.wine) is ready to use. You could stop here, but, I hope you will take just a couple more minutes to finish. I've tried to keep it short, and it could save you a lot of aggravation and time. It is important to understand that you can have many wine prefixes on the same computer. Remember I said your .wine folder (prefix) contains a windows environment, that holds true for every prefix you create. Giving you the ability, for example, to install each windows program in it's own prefix, essentially running them as separate processes. This method also makes it possible to delete any one of the prefixes without affecting the others. So if you trash one installed program, simply delete the prefix and start again, all other programs, untouched. Now we can move on to creating a new prefix. I like to start all my prefix names with '.wine-' (all names must begin with a . ) and then I finish after the dash with a descriptive name. This way they are grouped together, in my Home folder, and I can easily identify them as a prefix rather than another type of '.folder'. Below are a few commands that will create a prefix and also open a particular tool. Try any, or all, of these commands: env WINEPREFIX=~/.wine-Test winecfg - (creates prefix - opens Configuration window) env WINEPREFIX=~/.wine-Test wine control - (creates prefix - opens Control Panel ) env WINEPREFIX=~/.wine-Test wine regedit - (creates prefix - opens Registry Editor ) Check out whatever tool you chose. Notice they look similar to a windows counterpart. If you tried more than one, you may have noticed it skipped, creating a prefix, after the first time. This is because the prefix already existed. Whenever you include a prefix designation (ie: env WINEPREFIX=~/.wine-Test) followed by a wine command (ie: wine control), any actions you take apply only to that prefix. If you don't include a prefix name, all actions apply to the default prefix (.wine). Any prefix, including the default, can be deleted, without concern. This does not remove Wine Hopefully, this is enough, to get you started with Wine. Have Fun! Return to Top Post

4 pointsNorth Bay WIP. Newly established Ranger Station along the North Ridge Highway in summertime And again mid-autumn. The University area and suburbs of North Bay along the Rushing River. To the north of the river is the high wealth district of Levi. North Bay is eagerly anticipating a lot of new commercial construction in the Daiker Flats district starting in the early springtime with the groundbreaking of a brand new Target Superstore and accompanying strip malls which are expected to bring many new retailers and hundreds of new jobs in response to overwhelming public demand. Several local groups are starting petitions to stop the destruction of the trees near the river which have been in place for centuries, no doubt. A compromise is in the works as we speak and the mayor, a native resident born and raised in North Bay, has openly expressed his concern in the matter, vowing to oversee the project himself and taking a personal interest in making sure that everyone involved wins.

3 pointsThe problem comes from a combination of factors. Because of the way the CDK3 lots (and other edge of water items) are modded, they typically alter the land slightly, even if you've terraformed it all beforehand. So if anything you want to connect is already in place when this happens, that can lead to a very small, almost unnoticeable change in elevation between the lots and something touching it. It's this small change that is preventing you connecting up the TE part with rail. Depending on your slope mod settings, this problem can be made even more complex, because for the game to let you drag that rail into the connection, it must be able to level the surrounding tiles so that the rail conforms to it's slope properties. The key to avoiding such issues is to build the CDK3 lots first. Then, using stubs, flatten all the tiles directly adjacent to them. I usually do this about 3-4 tiles deep as a minimum, but often I'll keep larger areas of perfectly flat land for around ports. If those stubs give a problem, sometimes it's because the CDK3 lots are not as level as they seem, preventing the use of stubs where one lot touches another. There is a technical reason for this, due to the modding of the lots. I wouldn't call it an error, more a consequence of trying really hard to make them as easy to use as possible. Ultimately, the game can only do so much automatically for you. Sometimes, to make a thing like this work, you have to spend a good deal of time terraforming to get an exactly flat area. Personally, albeit with effort, I've yet to fail to get the entire CDK3 system to be on flat land. Once you've got exactly flat land next to the ports, connect all the TE sections before building anything else. Since buildings and other networks can also try to alter the land's elevation, messing up all your hard work if you aren't careful. If you want to see just how tiny a change in elevation is actually there, use Buggi's Extra Cheats.dll, open it up with CTRL+X and use the command "Terrainquery". Select the "?" tool, then hover over the tiles causing the problem. This will change the query tool to show you the coordinates of your cursor, including the elevation of the lot, which is the figure assigned to Z, since the Z-Axis is height in the SC4 world. As mentioned, the change might be very minor, but it will be there. To connect to a TE lot, it must be perfectly level.

3 pointsI'm sure this will prove a very useful resource, Windows 10 is making a lot of enemies and I think Linux is becoming a serious consideration for some users as a result. Either way, I don't recall anyone making such a detailed explanation of this previously. I do wonder though, because it all looks rather complex, could these operations be compiled into some sort of Run and Done script of some kind? That may be of help to some who may otherwise feel overwhelmed with all the command line stuff.

3 pointsWhen you run the patches, a .txt file "Patchlog.txt" is generated in the same location as the installer for it. If you copy/paste that into a reply, we can see exactly what is failing. Most likely though, it fails because the files you are looking to update have been modified. SC4's files are all protected with something called a checksum, when edited, this value changes. If the installer doesn't see the expected checksum, it will assume you've been doing things you shouldn't and won't update the files. So if you do the I-HT fix before patching your game, the patches will fail. If you've altered the .exe, including the use of non-genuine files, again it will fail. Assuming you have a legitimate legal copy, worst case scenario: Uninstall SC4. Re-install it. Run both patches, EP1, then Nitelighting. Only then, can you add any other patches to your game like the I-HT fix. P.s. You might want to re-consider using 2 cores for SC4. On most systems use of multiple cores caused random CTDs when playing. SC4 was not designed to work with multi-core systems, so best to limit it to just one.

3 pointsHe has managed to get to the source code using the Mac version of the game. Unlike the Windows one, this is not encrypted, so if you know what you are doing, you can poke around. Without seeing the code and understanding it, you wouldn't be able to make a .DLL, because the .DLL must work with this code. In the sense of SC4 a .DLL can be used like an additional module that can amend the behaviour of the code. So in the case of the SC4Fix mod, during a certain sequence (PP over TE lot), the game generates an error that the code is unable to resolve. Such hiccups generally cause a CTD, because computers don't like it when they don't know what to do. The .DLL simply looks for that code, jumps in when it happens and alters the value of the error to one that prevents the CTD. Instead of an error code SC4 can't handle, it changes it to one the game can handle and will simply ignore instead. But, the actual code has not really been changed, it's been amended. So in my example, which is not strictly accurate, but more written to help those non-technical folks understand it with an analogy. The woman still goes to the forest, only the DLL listens for that action, if it occurs, it steps in and sends back that she has gone elsewhere (an expected result). That's really all my point here was, that the code isn't altered, it's appended. This is an important distinction, because the code in the .DLL has to work with whatever is already happening inside the .exe code. We can modify the .exe, but expect a call from EA's lawyers if you try to distribute that. That's why the .DLL is such a break-through, since in the past, there has been no way to make the game recognise (load) a third party .DLL. Having vaulted that barrier, we are now free to make .DLLs, but they don't alter the main code, they work in tandem with it. The problem is that you still need to understand exactly how something is working in the main code, in order to make the new code that adjusts the behaviour. So the woman (in my analogy) will always start in the forest before going elsewhere, she can never start anywhere else. RUL is just one part of the code for the game. RUL covers a number of very specific functions. It's most associated with the NAM team, because in reality, we're the only ones who adjust and add to the existing code. It's not possible to use two competing sets of RUL, they could conflict, if there was a free for all, it would be a nightmare to keep everything working in harmony. So the NAM team basically maintain the code for the benefit of all. Anyone is free to contribute, but in reality, you need to release the code through the NAM package. RUL0 covers the menus you see for transit networks and the interaction of them. What goes where and the order of items inside them which you select using the TAB / Home / End keys. This is all laid out in RUL0. RUL1 handles how networks interact with each other. So for example if two base networks meet, there needs to be code to tell the game what to do with the tile/(s) where they intersect. RUL2 allows us to override which texture/piece is shown in a given situation. For example, it tells the game to switch streets to a SAM network, when a suitable starter is placed. It's most useful for such override networks. A good example of this behaviour is the diagonal Road x Rail crossing. Note how this is three tiles long, not just one. That's because RUL2 tells the game when a diagonal road is next to the actual crossing, to use a diagonal road piece which shows a stop line, rather than the regular diagonal road texture. (note this only happens when the diagonal is in 2 of the 4 possible rotations). The point being, we can do a lot of things (NAM-type things), with RUL code. But RUL code is never going to give us access to alter the main functionality/code of the game. For example, we can not change how the game deals with RUL, only the RUL itself. That said, if this area was locked in the .exe, there would be no NAM. More on RUL for those who might be interested can be found here.

3 pointsCompleted this part of town. Population is currently between 85-100.000. Overview of the more or less the whole city at it current status: Finished up the urban area across the bay A shopping area, easily accessible from the highway: Quite a jungle out there! Last shot is taken from other side of town. Some high end apartments by the beach. Right now im working on what will be a new city center, with a big ass railyard being part of it

3 pointsJust read whole thread. My thoughts: IRL climate... In the tropics, weather generally moves East->West, bringing rain to eastern plains and slopes (magnified by slopes causing convection). Western slopes and plains beyond them are often drier in the "rain shadow". Mid-latitudes are the reverse. In both northern and southern hemispheres, prevailing winds carry weather generally West -> East. Hence the west side of the Cascade mountains get wet, and the plains east of the mountains are the best wine-growing region in the world. I thought it weird that Maxis saw wind as dryness rather than as a source of rain. Maybe they lived in California? Throughout the thread, I thought the best use of moisture data would be in a farming mod (causing certain farm lots to change activity, even freight, in an annual cycle). It could be cool to have industrial farm lots that would turn green in the rain but spontaneously irrigate if arid and connected to water (jobs etc depending on having either rain or city-water). Indeed, Maxis devs could have done so much more dynamic modeling if they'd been allowed to continue SC4 -> SC5 rather than being diverted into eye-candy like SC2013. Still, I'm pleased by what fans have made of this game.

3 pointsAs far as I know there's nothing directly hinting at a tie in with agriculture, however, it's safe to say a lot of terrain & climate features got axed. Only 1 of the 4 terrain textures tables in the ini file is enabled, which also happen to have settings related to wind erosion, hydrology and even a rain fall - all of which have no to little effect ingame. My best guess is the devs planned to include a seasonal watercycle, with actual rain (as evidenced by the rain tool) which would have an effect on actual, flowing rivers. One comment in the ini file especially alludes to this: Such a shame to think what could have been if only they'd been given more time. Ah well, best not to think of that too long I guess.

3 points@jduffett Images look amazing cant do it any better myself. As everybody seems to make stations these days I decided to revive an old project, one from before I joined Simtropolis. The project being the recreation of the (still being build) new Utrecht station area. starting with the station/transport hub, the station is going to have 13 tracks of which 11 are trough tracks, a large bus station and 2 tram/light-rail stops. Ill keep you all updated with my progression, there are some images below of what is already been made. The site of the IRL project (the site is in English but the Dutch version is more complete) still contemplating if I'm going to add the big white office tower to the station or not. (see the IRL project you cant miss it)

2 pointsHello Everyone! It's been far, far too long. I hope life is treating each of you very well! I'm happy to present this entry, but it feels a little bittersweet. Today we will take one last drive through the Little Traverse Bay harbor country. This city has been nearly three years in the making! I never anticipated that it would take this long, but real life always seems to pop up. That being said, I feel like this is the most complete city I have ever made. I'm pretty happy with the direction that the build has taken over the years. On to some photos! US 31 winds its way around Little Traverse Bay, and we find ourselves starting at the southern most end of the city. This is where we find the vacation getaway that is Bay Harbor. The village boasts a gas station, county sheriff's office, volunteer fire station, and a few small shops. Bay Shore's population jumps up in the summer as vacationers arrive at their cottages. The premium attraction is the Grand Traverse Resort & Conference Center. There is a large golf course that is quite popular! Here is a closer look at the cottages that cover the bluffs. Further east along US 31 we arrive in Petoskey. The city has seen some changes, the biggest change being the water front. A better tour is available in the previous city Journal that highlights the town. This is the updated water front. The dock space organization is much better. I also wanted to highlight the water front's industrial heritage. Gentrification has swept through the heavy industries. Many of the working class homes have also been converted into more modern living spaces. The downtown area is still a bright spot in the region! East of Petoskey are the hills that surround Walloon Lake. The countryside is filled with wineries, dairy farms, and many staple crops. Bay shore, not to be confused with Bay Harbor, is visible at the bottom of the photo. This is the heart of Walloon Lake. The village is home to the regions agriculture. The railway station is over a hundred years old! The large rail trestle is a popular spot for photographers. A man made channel connects the two portions of the spring fed lake. This area is popular with kayak and boating enthusiasts, as well as fishermen. Farms, a church, a winery, and a few small homes dot the countryside south of Walloon Lake. Back on US 31, the highway winds northward along the coast line. We see the forests, dunes, hills, and the North Branch of Walloon Lake that make up Petosaga State Park. Whoa, watch the road... More farms, more coast line. We've arrived at Menonaqua, just outside of Harbor Springs. The main point of interest here is the Traverse Bay Regional Airport. Menonaqua also hosts the region's fuel depot, wind farms, recycling waste center, and a train station. Three highways connect in this small town. We'll continue west on US 31 from here. Fortunately there is good signage to point travelers in the right direction. Hey, check out this wind farms. Logging is still taking place here as well. We've nearly reached Harbor Springs. This farm stands overlooking the Pere Marquette Railway line as it approaches the town. We've arrived in downtown Harbor Springs. This small town is a famous vacation destination in the north country. The town has a strong tourist and industrial past. It is situated on the northwest corner of Little Traverse Bay, making a nearly perfect natural harbor. And here's that harbor. This photo is looking northward. The Iron Horse Hotel is still in operation both as a hotel and a train station. There are many tourist activities available along the boardwalk area. People are clearly enjoying the day. The western edge of downtown is the industrial area. Manufacturing in the area has changed over the years, but Northern Lumber and Acme Boiler continue to be profitable. Harbor Mill Works closed two decades ago, but it has been revitalized as a centerpiece for the downtown. It now houses shops, restaurants, and apartments. US 31 winds north at Harbor Springs, but this photo is taken looking towards the south, back towards the Bay. The land formation is Stafford's Point, an homage to the family that settled here in the early 1800's. The point is now home to multi-millionaires. At the bottom of the photo is Harbor Springs School and the Point West neighborhood. The Harbor Springs Union Hall and the industrial area can also be seen. Well, we've come to the final photo, and it pretty much sums up life in this corner of the word. We see people of all backgrounds lining the pier. Some are fishing, some are boat watching, others swim or just enjoy the day. A sharp looking speed boat is returning from a cruise on the bay... That's all from Harbor Country! Thank you all for reading over the past few years! It has been a lot of fun making this project and sharing it with all of you! I hope life continues to treat each of you very well.

2 pointsI really struggled with the CDK ports and piers myself for a while until I watched a tutorial on how to level the shorelines. That helped a lot but, to be honest, the thing that has worked best for me with them is these levelers; I also found that it helped a lot to go into water pollution mode and level the sides of the drop off underwater so they're almost flat walls and then level the ground above with the levelers. You need to level back a good 7 or 8 tiles if you're using rail too, I've found. I haven't had a single problem once I finally got the groove and I can plop them sweetly almost every time now, even with the rail. Those, along with what @rsc204 said should serve you well. I use a lot of PEGs CDK stuff and it's mostly just getting the hang of it. Once you do it's smooth sailing! The levelers work great for other stuff too. Very handy little plop lots.

2 pointsThe wait is over! Take this one for a test drive and let me know how you feel about it. Edit: If you grabbed the attachment earlier it's now the old version. It'll work the same, but I figured out how to get some slightly better text on the popup overview: I can't just write whatever I want. It seems I can only use existing text from the LTEXT Group 6A231AEE so as pictured is what I selected. It's still the radiation view, just has different verbiage. Radiation View as Moisture.dat

2 pointsSorry, but it depends - beeing at different places in this world I can say I was in a shiny supermarket in Paris where they had a 40 meters long multideck cabinet entirely dedicated to cheese. But also I was a backpacker in Sicily and there was an old man without teeth selling fruits in the burning sun on the streetside and the dust swirled with the lorries hurrying by. And I was thirsty and tired and bought two peaches. And those were the most delicious peaches I ever tasted in my entire life. It's so hard to tell - the circumstances are not always the same. Sometimes you are happy if someone offers you a mouthful tepid water. Sometimes you are disappointed by a five stars restaurant. So how to answer? How these terms are used in language, is there something they have in common; "the great outdoors", "nature", "human nature"? If yes - what is it? Or maybe my question is: is there only one nature or are there many different natures?

2 pointsYep. Maxis studios were always around the 'Frisco/bay area. Places like Walnut Creek and eventually Emeryville, before closing down for good out there. Many aspects of the game were modeled after Silicon Valley circa 90's-00's. Also, on the idea that "it's a shame they didn't develop this and that feature:" we should take a second and appreciate that there are so many stub features hidden in this game. Without them, all of this modding wouldn't be possible. They could have completely removed all of the half-finished projects, but they left them instead for us to find and utilize a decade in the future. If Maxis hadn't been so damn ambitious with this game, it would have died a long time ago. But they really packed it full of stuff; it was ahead of its time.

2 pointsFor all this talk about measuring with two different standards and who is worse, what matters is the why; why America does what America does and why Russia does what Russia does. /// I just feel Russia is on the ropes and is constantly playing defensive. Their currency has devalued a lot, NATO is piling up in Eastern Europe and the sanctions are still there. I also feel talk about Russia invading Eastern Europe is barmy for a few reasons: 1. Economic sanctions and even China would break ties with Russia if Russia actually invaded Eastern Europe. 2. Russia doesn't need any more land, it struggles to utilise the vast land and resources it is already blessed with. 3. NATO would use tactical nukes to destroy Russian infantry and tank battalions and anti-missile installations, this would morph into a full-on nuclear salvo and MAD. 4. Even if MAD didn't happen, it would cost Russia a fortune to occupy Eastern European countries because their would be resistance groups and Russia knows what happened when they occupied Afghanistan. 5. Russia is already tied up in Syria and eastern Ukraine (supporting militias fighting the Ukranian army). In short Russia doesn't hold many cards since the power is largely with the US, NATO and Western banks. And another thing Russia doesn't act like an empire, the US does and so does China, but Russia? They cannot afford imperialistic ambitions. Given these pressures, I think Putin and the Russian government have done a remarkable job keeping the country float and not losing their heads. That takes leadership, for good or bad, moral or amoral. /// On to the US. There is this thing with neocons in the US, they are hell bent on preserving the US empire, the US dollar and US influence. Since this can't be done with actual conquest because the world is too big and the cost too expensive, it can be done with chaos, confusion and boogeymen. Look at the neocon written PNAC (Project for the New American Century) and how it provides a blueprint which matches events today almost to a tee. It's a sick game being played. The other sick game is what the US must do to protect the dollar's global reserve currency status. It hast to defend this status because otherwise the dollars come flooding back into the US and massive amounts of inflation and horrendous government deficits will arise. To balance the books lots of assets must be sold and departments reigned in, the most obvious one will be the department of defence: dismantling the 500+ military bases around the world, decommissioning most of the aircraft carriers, cutting spending to weapons companies, shrinking the army, etc... The same thing happened to the British when the pound was no longer the global reserve currency, when that happened the British no longer ruled the world. Russia and China are doing all they can to get around the petrodollar and that is a cardinal sin for any country to commit. Iraq and Libya were attacked because their respective leaders dared to attempt a new currency system which bypasses the dollar. Maybe, just maybe, Trump and his team have some plans to keep the neocons at bay; restoring ties with Russia would be a good place to start. But I don't have any hope for Trump and the issue of the petrodollar, because sooner or later his plans to start a manufacturing boom in America will run slap bang into the obvious truth- America must import more than it exports to export its currency around the world. Now Trump could go uber-neocon if the dollar's global reserve currency status is threatened. America first is great and all but is this an intelligent, calculated nationalism designed to curb the problems and contradictions of American Empire or this is a visceral nationalism which will not permit any decline in Pax Americana? Bush and Obama ardently followed the latter, as for Trump? We're going to find out this year. /// But I will be frank, until Trump actually deals with the petrodollar, the neocons, TBTF, the Federal Reserve and flawed monetary creation systems then a lot of his plans are going to come to nothing. If Trump goes all Abe Lincoln and places monetary creation in the hands of solely the government, then it would be a remarkable thing and something truly gutsy.

2 pointsI'm a little sad here. I haven't been a member here long enough to see this entire cj develop and I wish I had but, I have thoroughly enjoyed every bit of it that I've seen and heard. Amazing work and very inspirational too! Thank you for sharing all this hard work and for the glimpse into such a wonderfully diverse culture as well. Also, thank you for sharing the info on the music I had asked about. I will be looking for more of it! Hope to see you around again and good fortune with whatever paths you travel!

2 pointsHmmm, not a very good sign. I think you need to define "real leader" with a statement like that. Does being a "real leader" necessarily make you a good, as in morally just, leader? Was Hitler a "real leader"? The problem is that there wasn't much of a choice. The alternatives to Obama were just as bad or worse. John McCain? Romney? (I wanted Ron Paul) Well maybe functionally Romney could have been better. At least he recognized the threat of Russia in 2012, but was then mocked by Obama. Can't really say that things would have been that much better without him. Had Obama lost the election to John McCain or Romney there would still be accusations of a "whitelash" and activist progressives would still have used it as an excuse to race-bait. While I think Obama is partially responsible for the rise of ISIS, I don't really see how it would have been different under either if his opponents. lol, he said that?

2 pointsI'm coming too late to this amazing CJ, but not too late to applaud. The story's end is very Murakami... And the pictures, with that sunless feel, and the way they are cropped, are exactly what is needed to go with it. Marvelous. Thank you ! And may we see you again here.

2 pointsThank you for your the likes ! With other members on SC4Devotion, we had a conversation about the platforms. And I decided to make that : - One that allows you to lot different stations directly in game, with pre-lotted platform of 32m : then you can make them TE and there is no problem, I think ! The minimum is so 96m (3 pieces), which is the tiniest station you can find IRL. - One that allows you to lot these platforms in the LE, and add every props you want. I BATted some one, you find them here just below. @Krasner (another member of TSC Team) is doing other ones, to complete the collection. At the end, we think to publish a French stations prop pack. Then, stations I worked on today and yesterday : I hope you like it !!

2 pointsWelcome to how the other half felt about Obama and his administration. If Obama had been a real leader, like Putin for instance, then America today would have been wealthier, a bit fairer and far less polarized. Racial relations and international relations would have improved instead of what actually happened- they deteriorated. Finally Obama and his administration were hardcore neocons with their international policies and actions: arming Syrian rebels, the no-fly zone in Libya, meddling in Ukraine, supporting the Saudi regime, deploying a missile shield in Europe, the "Asian Pivot", the list goes on and on. The War on Terror went on steroids during the Obama administration and it has become so bad that even Europe is feeling the horrific consequences due to the refugee crisis and the surge in terrorist attacks. Obama was a neocon warmonger just like Bush, what Obama said -- all of it -- is completely meaningless when one looks at the actions of Obama and the actions of his administration. Like Bush, Obama should be tried for warcrimes for all the stupid meddling in the international scene and the misery, suffering and death that resulted. The fact that Obama was awarded the Nobel Peace prize in 2009 is one of the most grotesque farces in history- this is the man who gives the order to greenlight drone strikes which have killed many tens of thousands of civilians. The USA is beginning to fall apart with the cancer that is polarization and the destruction of the middle ground, the understanding that power swings like a pendulum to the left and right over the years helps to give perspective and patience. Now that is being washed away with reactionary attitudes, hyperbole and lots of snowflake millennials losing their minds just because the constitutional republic of America still works by and large. I just hope Trump keeps a wide berth from the neocons, they are insane and are American imperialists. I also hope Trump makes good on his promise to restore relations with Russia and will actually coordinate with Syria to fight ISIS and the rest of the Islamic militants.

2 pointsYou did a great work all this time with Okaiken, I'm sure it was a great addition to the community and now it comes to an end. I always have the feeling that finish something while it's in a great work quality is the best thing to do, this way it's going to be well remembered. And of course, RL comes first, but I expect to see some of your works from time to time

2 pointsDid the same with NHP Santa Haven. I'm on a cell phone now, so I cannot check the dat, but IIRC, the change is on the script itself: there is a line (annotated indeed, I believe) that controls the seasonal simulation, maybe over or between the moisture/altitude matrixes. It is just a boolean so is really simple to change. Later I could add some images of the terrain changing; it is very noticeable how it goes from a lush green to a red-yellow bare land in a few months.

2 pointsI should clarify that I was not intending to belittle your concerns, merely that since the world was not [made] moral or just when Obama was in office, it would not cease to be so following Trump's inauguration. Things can always get worse, for sure, but they weren't particularly good to begin with. Never let me say that things can't get worse, but I don't agree that everything was hunky dory just because we seemed to be getting more "progressive" (how loaded is that terminology? progressivism is associated with moving forward into the future and conservatism is associated with stagnation?). The terms themselves seemed designed to mislead you into thinking that one is automatically better than the other simply due to their associated meanings; isn't moving forward and progress always better than standing still, but it doesn't address the scope of the ideology nor does it account for the idea that other agendas or worldviews may have valid merits, since by "definition" they are not "progressing." Food for thought.

2 pointsYou know, I knew that Fake News was a thing, and Pizzagate was a part of it, but I had never any real idea about what it was until you posted that link (why would I go around looking up stories that are fake, ya know?). CSPAN is decent mostly because, IIRC, most of their "news" lacks commentary. That doesn't diminish what they do, I think, but it does give you an idea of what happens when you let pundits speak their mind. The news networks were always partisan, but I have never seen them so partisan as when Obama assumed office and when Trump came to the forefront of the Republican primary race. I actually never watched Fox News until this election cycle, because not only did they not particularly like Trump (and they certainly didn't like Clinton), but they actually considered the issues surrounding both candidates, rather than being completely dismissive of anything Clinton did/might have done. Rather, put another way, they were the least rabid of the major national news agencies. The bias was obvious (clearly they are conservative news media), but less in your face than at CNN or ABC or NBC. The marginalization of Bernie Sanders at these "liberal" news organizations was also upsetting, since it was clear he had a better case for candidacy and was repeatedly ignored by the media for as long as it seemed feasible to ignore him. Then he almost won Iowa, and did win NH, and suddenly became important, despite his growing support the entire pre-primary campaign. As a conservative Christian who politically leans leftward (Politics and nationalism have no place in my religion), I'm not particularly frightened by Trump, and "supported" him after Sanders gave up at the convention (I don't actually "support" any candidate, though obviously there are those who I would prefer in power over others). Generally speaking, I think the biggest issue with the election is not how it works (Trump clearly won; as much as I hate the electoral college the rules are obvious, and Clinton didn't campaign at all in states that she expected to vote her way, which tells you she played the same game), but that modern liberals have associated liberal ideology with their new religion. Absent a god to serve, they can only serve their self-determined ideology, which is manifested in the furthering of their political agenda. Here's why I wasn't very worried about Obama, or Bush, both of whom I wanted to get into office (OK, so Bush I was a little young, and that was parental influence), and neither of whom I agreed with when it came to the overarching agenda that they ended up implementing (Bush with the Iraq war, and Obama with Interventionism and Social Justice). It's going to pass. Short of nuclear holocaust, Trump will be gone in 4 to 8 years (provided some fool doesn't end up assassinating him first, and SJWs should be far more worried about Pence than Trump). Here's a quote from Paul: and another: At what point does politics become religion? At that point, perhaps those in that position need to remove themselves, because then they would be in violation of the constitution, which affirms that the government shall 'make no law respecting an establishment of religion, or prohibiting the free exercise thereof,' I am joking of course, but then one also wonders what SJWs consider free exercise of religion, and what freedoms they are worried are going to be removed under a Trump presidency that in general has called for less regulation of people's lives rather than more. Certainly the use of things like terror watch lists to regulate the distribution of certain controlled products like guns, ammunition, and certain volatile chemicals in an effort to curb violence is not a preservation of civil liberties no matter how many times you want to say it is (I'm still surprised legislation like this passed the House) There are a number of regulations that I actually approve of. Corporations cannot be trusted to guarantee a free and competitive market, for instance, but there need to be limits to governmental power (I'm not arguing that that area--the "free market"--is one of them). Considering that the Trump Hotel was mostly closed, and he hasn't taken "gifts" from foreign governments, I'd ascribe this to the numerous "appearance of evil" offenses that Trump has mounted, rather than a specific violation of the constitution. I agree he should divest his interest in that property, given both the terms of the contract which he is apparently subject to violation in, and in the sense that he should avoid as much as possible any additional form of controversy that may affect his ability to proceed with the rest of his agenda. Additionally, changes to members of a contract does not immediately imply violation of the contract, and IIRC members of a contract have the ability to withdraw or renegotiate the terms of the contract within a specific time frame to allow for changes in circumstance. I'm not a contract lawyer, but having read through Terms of Service agreements, Credit Card and mortgage contracts, as well as student loan agreements, it appears that almost every contract has a sort of extended transition period wherein changes made to the contract or the parties involved can provide an opportunity to reject the new agreement and drop out of the contractual obligation. Who could have anticipated that Trump would become an elected official, much less the highest official, when that particular contract was drawn up? I agree he's had ample time to completely remove himself from that contract, but I would still argue that he's not yet in violation because he has just taken office and I suspect that the contract in question recognizes changing circumstances and makes provisions. Cell phone companies aren't in violation of a contract simply because they raise their rates unexpectedly. They do give you a 60 to 90 day window wherein you can reject the new terms and are loosed from the obligations sans penalties. I doubt that this contract Trump signed for the Trump International Hotel in the former Post Office does not have a similar clause, but I agree that to prevent further problems in enacting his agenda he should dump it as soon as possible to avoid it muddying the waters concerning the policies he does want to accomplish.
