I was just thinking about wind power. I have to admit I'm still not used to not having a lot of things on a year specific basis like airports and bus service, etc as it was in prior game versions.

After messing around for awhile, I've decided to play for real, using the Fairview region. My first city will be a smallish farming community. I figure a small downtown with some light commercial and residential, and farms. Should I put in any other industrial zones away from the farms or just keep it strictly agricultural? Suggestions welcomed. TYVM.

1680 x 1050. That's my monitor's native resolution.

I have to admit I'm not liking this region concept much. I prefer the old way of playing one city with premade, albeit imaginary neighbors.

Tutorial: Applying the I-HT Bug-Fix correctly
Mr Baseball replied to cogeo's topic in SC4 Bugs & Technical Issues
Will not fixing this issue seriously impact the game? I'm not a numbers guy, it's all greek to me. After reading the Fix for the fix, I don't know if I want to get into all that work, unless game playability will really suffer from not using it. -
Do you ever do U drive it.
Mr Baseball replied to Mr Saturn64's topic in SimCity 4 General Discussion
Eh.... I have yet to see a city mayor drive around with a personal motorcade of bodyguards. I guess you've never been to New York. I tried UDI for a couple of missions then promptly turned it off. Doesn't add anything to the game for me. *Sorry for necroposting but I was searching to see if UDI missions were necessary before asking in a new thread. -
Thank you.

At the end of the NAM installation it asked if I wanted to install the TSCT and did so into a separate folder.

I've seen the idea of cleaning up the plugins file by creating sub directories which makes sense. Can pretty much any mod files be place anywhere in the plugins file, under any heading. For instance, can NAM be placed in say "Mods"? Can the Z_ nam file be placed in the NAM file.? Can the TSCT file be placed in the NAM file?

Comprehensive SimCity Music Collection, Version 3.2
Mr Baseball replied to trar's topic in SimCity 4 General Discussion
This is great stuff. Is the music from the Original Sims available anywhere? -
Sure could have fooled me....... I can't get them to shut up, even on hard. My cities are all passing utilities between them which seems to create an insane amount of babble. Even when all the utilities are covered and funded, they just keep saying the deal needs to be changed, or reduced, or increased, even when it doesn't and/or you're not eve able to do so. I do like when they tell me pertinent things occasionally so don't want to shut them off completely. Wish there was a "happy medium babble" mod for the advisers. To reduce advisor gibberish, try unckecking the "Urgent Advice Dialogs" option in your game's settings. Doing this with the game on hard is probably the best way. Otherwise, will greatly quieten them down (although it doesn't disable them entirely). By the way, there's a handy translation of the description in the comments section. I sure hope the creator of that Mod is not a Native English speaker. I think that was the most painful to read thing I've seen since "Dianetics"...........

I have a Digital copy from Amazon. I'll check out those 2 plugins, thanks.

Thanks. I've seen the havoc reconciling can cause. Not a pretty site.

I am using the Timbuktu region to do my first building on for now and have chosen the Getting Started tutorial city. I clear the map and reconcile the edges to bring it back to it's original form. From what I gather, anything I do at the map edges changes the joint between cities. For example, I usually place my coal power plant at the very edge so it will level any uneven terrain. Building a road connection levels the terrain a bit. Do these areas cause a need for reconciliation. I know what reconciliation does to anything built on the edges so what happens if I don't reconcile?

There are TWO plugin folders? Which one to use?

I love my SSD's. I have a 128GB Crucial M4 for my System Drive and a 256 GB M4 just for Trainz, which fills up quickly with extra content. I also have a 1TB HDD for data. With proper backing up of important stuff I find any risks worth taking for the extra performance, especially since the prices for SSD's have come way down and they are easy to replace. I thought about moving my page file, but with 16GB of RAM I wonder if it's ever used at all. I keep mine small, 512MB max.
