Stadium Karaoke (the Official Karaoke Place of the league champion hometown Llamas) is in game now.  And just in case you need some Meiji candy, Boss coffee, melon bread, Pocari Sweat, or Sakeru Cheese, there is a Lawson on the first floor open 24/7.

I love Pocari Sweat so much you don't even know...

Wish it was more available in the states. But now it is in SC4!!

working on a heavy lift terminal for the windindustry port:

could some of the experienced modelers explain to me which options there are to render in a higher resolution?

so far the understanding that I have of the process is what I am using:

gmax+BAT game pack> can render in "high" as maximum setting and save in *.SC4Model (is there a way to circumvent this setting or boost in in some config file?)

I heard that 3ds MAX from autodesk can be used and I would assume it can render in a higher resolution, but how is the SC4Model file created then? is there a sc4 addon for 3ds MAX :D (seems unlikely to me)

First off, very nice start on that crane. Looking forward to progress on it.

Whether you're using Gmax or 3dsmax there is the option of doing HD renders.

For Gmax you need to grab the HD Rendering Script from Simfox.

As for 3dsmax, you will need to use Simfox's BAT4MAX script.

3dsmax generally gives higher quality to the finished product. Better textures and lighting.... But you can achieve some really nice stuff using only Gmax.

If you decide to go the 3dsmax route, read up these threads: Here and here. There are some settings to manually change for 3dsmax versions 2013 and more recent.

Either way, you need the HD rendering script for gmax. That's because when using 3dsmax you export the LODs to render them in gmax.

A truly weird, but frequently admired, SC3000 building (Hans Hanalore) comes to SC

Geez, it really has been a long time since I've played SC3000......  just a vague memory of this building.  Anyway, it is always great to see some classics make it into  SC4.

I think it should be both ground based (for a ship wrecking yard maybe) and also underwater for a shipwreck

Annoyingly the MTRDK file did not make the transition to my new machine. However, I can confirm that it was 258c2000 that was used for the texture of the custom SWN you made (which did make it to the new machine) and hopefully below image should demonstrate that everything worked - at least enough has worked to allow it to grow in game and match my sidewalk. :)

If you need anything to assist with making the maxis concrete a general release for SWN I'm obviously happy to (try to) help. Your guidance has always been so helpful over the years.

Your posts above emboldened me to load up SC4 with my new lot files included. I used the maxis texture 0x258xf2000 where I could on my new lots, but actually not so much of the lots was base texture, the dirt road texture was the overlay texture in a lot of cases, so I have just looked for something that works that's concrete. I think the image below demonstrates though that where relevant, the use of this maxis texture was the correct choice.

In the below picture, we can an original CP lot with dirt road and American cars below the road, and my new one with my sidewalk texture and European cars above the road.

Very happy with the way it looks and I can't see why I wouldn't just want to have both sets of lots available to me, I can always demolish if the texture looks out of place when it grows. If I'm bold enough I may eventually change the 'gentrified' version to R$$, as that makes more sense (and the exemplar is contained in the lot, rather than in CP's original desc files), but for now I think I'll be happy just seeing these grow in my little town and not worry too much about how it all works.

Thanks for everyone's help. This should keep me quiet for a while!

GoG is one of the official source where you can buy a digital copy of the game. This is actually the best version. Fully patched etc... you can download the installer file (1 GB) as a back up onto your computer, client free. Time-to-time it offeres the SC4 for like 5-10 sterling or dollars or so...  (at this moment it's a bit pricy, but within a couple of months it will be cheap again).

@tariely GOG.com (f.k.a. Good Old Games). Like Steam, it is one of the main online retailers of computer games. GOG is generally known for older titles, but has the advantage of being DRM-free. To prevent getting off topic, I'll refer you to this Simtropolis thread comparing getting the game at GOG vs Steam. N.B.: their content (including SC3000 and SC4) regularly goes on sale, if you are looking for a fresh copy of the game.

Yo --

Pardon my ignorance -- but -- "DRM-free" - ??

In Italy, for thirty years under the Borgias, they had warfare, terror, murder, and bloodshed.  But they produced Michael Angelo, Leonardo Da Vinci, and The Renaissance.

In Switzerland, they had brotherly love and five hundred years of peace.  And what did that produce?

The cuckoo clock !
