This is the largest city in my current region; I'm working on a way to map it out. The orange lines are the subway network. It's very much a work in progress.

The bridge has grown again and a few new buildings have been added.
The small parish church "St. Paul on the Bridge" even has a "lift" for the faithful who come by boat. But you have to be very faithful to use it....

After battling with major complications in the tunnel construction (a. k. a. game files got corrupted and had to reinstall SimCity 4) here I have, at last, the new alignment and tunnel in service! Sad news is that it was not feasible to build it towards Aldemar, but instead was built towards Wellesley by going through Ingena.

BETWEEN WELLESLEY AND LAKE PLATINUM

 

We start our journey from Lake Diamond, right at the point where the old summit tunnel railway and the new base tunnel railway fork:

 

 

Passengers and train operators can now enjoy the amazing views of Lake Diamond from up-close, and this one seems to be loaded with thrilled travelers!:

 

 

Upstream of the lake we follow the bends of the Diamond River and the increasingly dense forests leading to the village of Rockford:

 

 

Once crossing the border into Rockford, we witness the Rockford Pass, and the old summit railway near its top, along with the intercity road crossing the same gate between the mountains. We're skipping the climbing to Rockford proper to get a more direct route towards Nida, through the newly opened Rockford Base Tunnel!

 

 

After traversing the dark 2.8 km of the tunnel, we emerge at a much lower elevation, under the imposing Castle Rockford! Additionally, we have another railway junction, where trains can head along the long and wiggly railway to Rockford, or continue a much straighter alignment towards Nida:

 

 

And here is a better perspective of what's around us--after the junction, the new railway roughly follows the power lines between Geyser Canyon and Nida:

 

 

We then cross the steep and straight road connecting Rockford and Nida, and then make our way to the southeast side of the town. Passengers (and soon cargo) can board/alight or instead continue their journey towards Baden and Ingena:

 

 

We once again enter another city district, this time to reach the village of Baden. Travelers can visit Castle Baden, the Queen's vacation residence, or enjoy the landscape as they border the Ingena Ridge Natural Heritage Preserve.

 

 

 

Out of scenic, constructability and environmental considerations, the railway does not cross in front of Ingena Falls, travelers who want to enjoy them will have to alight and ride a tour bus to the scenic look-over, or else they'll miss it as they go across the tunnel from Baden to Ingena.

 

 

We finally emerge along the farms leading to Ingena, the city of steep streets. Passengers now have a second station to stop at along the way, where they can more easily reach the Ingena Fort. Those with more pressing business matters can instead continue their journey towards Wellesley, where the glamorous hotels and busy convention district await!

@tariely So you only noticed once I set the graphics settings to everything high, huh!

 

I'm using the Gobias Berner Oberland terrain mod, designed specifically to recreate the European Alps. Additionally, I also use MGB's terrain-matching grass to complement the mod.

Yes, one of the two KPMG buildings will be going away...haven't decided which one yet.

A new small town I'm working on, named Mermaid Town. The challenge here is to build a city that follows the landscape of its area and still provides as many amenities as possible with the lowest environmental footprint possible. This means no power plants based on fossil fuel, few to no low-tech industries, no out-of-place layouts, as many parks and mass transit options as possible, and no excessive terraforming. Obviously there is a lot of work to be done.
