@Goldman Sachs

Yo, guy --

Those look pretty good, especially the bottom one.  *:thumb:

But give me a bit of time to see if I can come up with pictures of something a bit bigger in caliber.  Any coastal defense battery needs a mix of guns to cover a variety of ranges and threats.  I'll try not to get too complicated.  *:party:

In Italy, for thirty years under the Borgias, they had warfare, terror, murder, and bloodshed.  But they produced Michael Angelo, Leonardo Da Vinci, and The Renaissance.

In Switzerland, they had brotherly love and five hundred years of peace.  And what did that produce?

The cuckoo clock !

The bridge has received a hinged passage so that the ships can also change to the other part of the river.

That's one of those pictures that I can hear the noises, the water, the sail boats moving, the people walking and working on the piers.

@Goldman Sachs

Okay, my friend --

Studying your pictures --

The first picture with the turret housing suggests a gun mount from the 1930's or 1940's, usually placed to guard the mouth of harbors against attack by small craft, and probably 4.3" in size.  That's good for the "light work".  They usually came in batteries of four guns with concrete aprons and ammunition bunkers dug into the ground nearby.

The second picture with the guns in an open concrete apron mount suggests pre-WW I (1890 - 1920) and a quick-firing 6" size.  They were intended to "smother" a target at close range with a "blizzard" of medium caliber shells.  Capable of handling anything up to heavy cruisers.  That would be excellent for an intermediate size battery of two or three guns usually mounted in a large concrete bunker structure that is dug into the reverse slope of a hill to use the earth as a frontal protective barrier with the rear structure giving access to munition storage and possibly target plotting rooms.  (If you need any information about the layout of the guns and the visual appearance of the concrete bunkers, simply go to "Wiki" and search "Endicott Batteries", and you can get some pretty good pictures if you Google that.)

(1) This picture is a coastal turret battery from Sweden...

(2) This one shows turret mounted 11" weapons on Heligoland Island in 1914...

(3) Another type of turret -- probably Scandinavian area...

(4) This is a 10" disappearing mount from circa 1890 to 1920 mounted in an open Endicott Battery system outside San Francisco.  This is a complicated mechanical mounting and may be too difficult for you to work with -- but they are interesting, nonetheless.

(5)  This is a 12" fixed mounting atop an Endicott System battery showing the entire gun crew in operation.  These were installed around 1910 and were still in operation on VJ-Day in 1945.

(6)  This shows the same gun at a test fire event in the early 1920's.  This mount is a lot less complicated in visual appearance and probably easier to model.  It is also a larger gun at 12" and would make an excellent lot for the game.  They usually appeared in twin emplacements, though triple and quadruple arrangements are not unknown.

Some members may think these are very old-fashioned weapons of war, and it is true that the advent of airpower (Pearl Harbor) made them, more or less, obsolete.  But I would remind everyone that many of these coastal installations all over the world figured prominently in WW II combat and the US Coast Artillery Branch was not disbanded until 1948.

I hope I have not gone overboard with this (I have a tendency to do that).    But I've always thought a naval base with battleships should have big guns to protect it...(go figure)!  Whatever you choose will be fine with me -- and if you have additional questions -- I am, Sir, at your complete service...

AND -- I apologize for getting a bit "off-topic" with this -- but battleships and coastal batteries are a mania of mine (forgive me -- my faults are many and grievous).

This project of yours is fantastic!!!. If I can sugest something: You can do both versions, there is kind of a lack of 2-3 story neoclassical/eclectic buildings. I'd be really nice to have some lower rise ones.

Those vans look great, would be awesome if you made some EV charging stations too and had some plugged in?

Also, do you have plans to release anything or do you do it purely to show your work in the forums? All good if that is the case but would be great to see even a few of your 100's of models in game.

What is good when you have nothing to say is that you can always pretend to listen. Anyway it does not prevent to think!
