Somehow I don't find quite intuitive to always require the outer side lanes (right side in right hand driving, left side in left hand driving) for freeway-freeway interchanges--I prefer full directionality (left lanes for left turns, right lanes for right turns) to speed-based semidirectionality (central "fast" lanes to go ahead, outer "slow" lanes to take exit ramps).

This one's kind of...odd? I built it this way so that when the freeway to the right side of the picture ends, cars can still stay on a long ramp and directly interchange with the elevated freeway instead of a normal intersection to get onto it.

I guess my image also unintentionally shows a two-level roundabout interchange on the left, which doesn't actually involve freeways, it's just because I needed to do something other than a normal intersection there.

@Dragonxander: I agree that left exits can make more sense a lot of the time, although I wouldn't want a left entrance without merge space to a freeway. A left entrance could be okay if it forms a new lane, like with the RHW-6C puzzle piece.

That interchange from Birmingham is missing a roundabout. It's pretty integral to that interchange.

You know what they say about letting unfinished freeways lie...

Here are a couple shots of a part-expressway/part-surface road. This is some of the most complex and circuitous surface roadwork in the region:

I believe I've come up with a new 4-way interchange design. I guess it would be a variant of the cloverstack.

Has some stability issues in the middle, but that should be fixed by NAM 31 (right?)

This intersection connects the city ring road to the Lancaster-Burbank "Express"way. It's located in Lancaster, east of my downtown area.

Nice job there =D So many turns when you look from the air, makes me confused XD

marienbergkreuzung.jpg

One of mine, which is almost a copy of that one in the Simcity Devotion tutorial xD

Doesn't have much usage yet, but the south and east areas of the motorway aren't developed yet (south is upwards in the picture).

And the dump has to be removed >,>

The curves on that interchange look so smooth!

How long did it take you to make? :P

I had the tutorial as help, so it took around 10-15 min :}

But they're not. Trust me. The paths are simply not there.

Puzzle pieces can't override. Flex items rely on overrides. What happens if you combine the two? You break the functionality of the other. And no, it can't be fixed unless you use a completely different implementation.

    Wow those look amazing NewYorkRunaway1!

Here is a new one. Rather interesting design with the 15m and 30 m embankments there instead of L2/L4. Also tried to make it semi-compact. Anyone know the name of it? Some sort of semi-directional stack? 3 level stack? Turbine? Windmill? Also I might make a tutorial for this one.

    Nice shots everyone!

Just a basic one for me. The morning peak hasn't picked up just yet, but the Kensington Expressway is certainly busy with commuters crossing the bay to their jobs in the city.

Due to the odd topography, a 3/4 interchange is placed further south and just one onramp here. Note the 2+1 road designed to accommodate the higher volume of traffic going that way.

Stacks are cool. But compact stacks...those are hard to build with puzzle pieces. Can't wait for increased draggable functionality with NAM 31.

Trumpets are at least easy to build.

Pulling this from my archives thread but thought it is worth a share here.

A medley of real-life inspired interchanges I created with the RHW 5.0 during 2012.

Made this junction with RHW 4.0. Hard drive died and latest backup files I had were a few months before I made this creation.

    5EMbX.jpg

After putting it off for a long time, I decided to tackle it with RHW 5.0.

    0az3tPn.jpg

Which looks better? (Don't mind the monorail/HSR/BTM glitch, I'm working on fixing that :P)
