Very nice! I remember that interchange when i was in Ontario!(And we accidently took the ETR instead of 403 because our GPS told us to)

Nice free flowing and smooth interchange AIX!

Technically, this is part of a very large express/local access lane system I am currently constructing. Each direction has two carriageways, for high speed traffic and lower speed local traffic. It will span nearly a dozen city tiles when complete.

More of TREX! This is where the expanded M5 Freeway crosses the M3. This turned out to be a real mess to construct because the M3 freeway is at a diagonal and tunnels could not be used due to shallow soil depth (one click of the lower terrain tool yields water). My kingdom for ERHW 3 or 4 that can go over diagonals!

In the spoiler tag below the image, I included a diagram that sorts things out.

Geesh you're really going all out eh AIX? Nice job!

Gugu3: looks good but you're missing some access points. If you make those MIS ramps create intersections with the avenues rather than just on/off ramps to one direction of the avenues then they would be complete junctions.

I suppose those roundabouts could TECHNICALLY provide complete access...

    2 by me.....

Just had a suggestion about that interchange...it's great-looking overall, but on the lower left ramp, where it exits as two lanes and narrows to one just before the intersection, you could transition the RHW-4 to one-way road instead of MIS so that it would have a right and a left turn lane there.

I also have one to show that I've been holding off on showing until the area is developed (or at least I think I have...can't exactly remember). Unfortunately, the development of residential suburbia has stagnated as of late, so there is just empty zoning on one side.

Curved basketweave combined with 3/4 diamond interchange (added later):

    Great job! Impressive work!

EDIT: my first use of the Ontario sign pack. Still think the font could be bigger, especially for the top sign. And some grass texture at the base would be good too :P

@Hal: I wish signs did not have any base texture. I often use a different terrain texture and often signs give me awkward squares of grass :P

    ^I agree.

Here are a couple I recently made.

^This one isn't quite done yet, I still have some lights and signs to place.

Oh I see your point, but I prefer a grass texture as a base. Some sign packs come with several versions including grass, stone/concrete (for sunken sections) and nothing.

Here are a couple I recently made.

Looks good. I would push for more smooth curves and less elevated segments to make it look more realistic.

Anyways since you guys liked the last one so much, here's another RL recreation of an interchange:

@Hal: as AIX said the roundabout is solving that problem :D

@Moonracker0: that would be an idea :golly: it' interesting to share things with people because you can always have some suggestions

Here's one from me. It is the modification of the trumpet which previously connected Highway's 40 and 140. (140 running up and down, 40 left right in the photo.) It now connects Highway 40, 140 and the newly constructed Highway 282. Highway 282 is a connector to the new Highway 82 which is parallel to highway 40.

It is not a complete interchange, as you can see. In the future, a new highway (highway 23) will provide full access from highway 40 to highway 82 and beyond. For now other side streets handle directions not covered by this interchange. It may be reconstructed in the future depending on traffic levels.

This is one of the interchanges in my regions - Silver Coast. It's a large interchange with a higway, avenue, roads and duble electrifiec rail. It has tunnels, bridges, roundabouts etc.

I like it and all. But the link coming from Toronto on the highway 403 to highway 403 heading to hamilton is an overpass not an underpass.

Sim Link: Can't wait to see it when it's done.

Urban Contructa: Looks good, but I think you have too many light towers. If you space them out more and swap to the smaller version I think your highway will look better.

Cryuskafaiwu: The junction is a source of 'inspiration', my design is not intended to be an exact replica. Based on the RHW's functionality, an underpass makes much more sense for that connection.

One more decked out RL recreation just cuz :P

    Hi everyone,

Here is a T styled interchange (dont know exactly what it is) with larger capacity ramps heading into the city from the outer suburbs.

Joseskanuenz: That's a rather well-built trumpet interchange. The only thing I'd do is increase the radius of the loop ramp.

I'm building a new city, Hassan, which so far has been surprisingly difficult when it comes to designing interchanges. This interchange between a main freeway and a surface street originally was a partial cloverleaf interchange, but by this time it has mutated into an interchange type I've never seen or heard of before. Instead of loop ramps (as in a parclo) this interchange has directional ramps, and one of the intersections has been replaced by another directional ramp. In essence, it is a turbine interchange with one of the ramp sets replaced by an at-grade intersection:

    1-868.jpg

There's another interchange towards the west that was originally of this design, a cloverleaf interchange with two of the loops replaced by directional ramps:

    2-1430.jpg

This soon proved to be insufficient, so I converted this interchange to a full turbine interchange. Notice the presence of some two-lane ramps:

    3-1351.jpg

Down south there's a heavily-used Partial Y interchange that services an industrial park:

    4-185.jpg

Another one. Thanks to Deathtopumpkins for making one of the signs!

I really love this style of basket weave. I have used repeatedly in my own project.

This is sort or off-topic but I am 'showing' you an 'interchange'

Today I was on a tour showcasing infrastructure improvements in Mississauga, Ontario (a city next to Toronto and larger than Detroit). One of the projects showcased was a 'lane doubling' of Highway 401 which included the expansion of an interchange with Hurontario Street, the 'main street' of Mississauga.

It wasn't the greatest day weather-wise but I did manage to take a bunch of pics of the construction work. You can view them here if interested: http://www.dropbox.c...36v1/4-MyPtLO09

Anyways great interchanges guys, keep showin em! ;)

I like this interchange, but I think it'd perhaps be better if your avenue terminated at roundabout, meeting the other roads nearby (including your on/off-ramps).
