About This File

Tariel-Villavicencio Chateau-Beynac Grand Cru 7x6 Grow

I like good wine (that’s “Grand Cru” meaning in French). So here’s a vineyard, relotted from Villavicencio’s creation.

The lot is IR stage 2 (agro-industry) and Grow only [cheat lotplop to the rescue !].  It can be extended with more vineywards on two sides at your leisure.

You can check Villavicencio’s content on the STEX.

A list of deps is in the folder (updated from the original !)

Many thanks to my technical gurus, Rsc204, Kosc and Dreadnought. And especially Rivit, who lighted my SC4world and is always generously ready to help. And the guys and gals on the forums (Twalsh, Matias93, Fantozzi, Catty-cb, Corinamarie…). We need help when we begin peeking under the hood of SC4. That the community is always there for us noobies is a constant and pleasant reassurance. General warnings :

General warnings :

(1) This is for SC4 Rush Hour.

(2) I play with NAM36, RRW-EU selection (it shouldn’t interfere here, but you never know !)

(3) I also play with Twrecks Maxis HD Tree Replacement (if you don’t use it, your trees might look a bit different ; perhaps you should use it,,,)

 (4) I play Nights. Hence the included RVT zNightLighting. Depending on your using or not a Light Replacement Mod, the lighting will be slightly different, but There Will Be Light. If you don’t want it, you can either tweak my lights in the Lot Editor or get rid of them entirely.

(5) I like trees. I make intensive use of trees. Especially Girafe tree collection on the LEX ; so here’s a link, once for all ; just follow it into the woods.

I am not sure what forum this message is best suited for, so until it is moved (if it is moved), this is the forum it will be on.
The other day, I saw an article about an "open source" version of SC2000 that was available on some gaming site.  It turns out, however, that it wasn't quite as "open source" as the developers claimed because some of the artwork (I guess for some of the buildings like power plants or whatever) was lifted from SC2000 and not original artwork.
This got me to thinking about an open source version of SC4.  I do not have the programming skill to write one myself, and am not putting forth some sort of proposal to get one written, just sorta speculating about a few things, and the following are what I came up with:
I think if such a project were undertaken, it needs to be cross-platform, that is, it source should compile to either Windows, Mac, or Linux executables, and run directly on  any of these platforms without having to use some type of emulator such as WINE.  I did some looking, and some types of basic at least claim to be able to do this.  Python also seems to claim to have this ability. The second problem would be in the use of plugins.  According to this article: http://www.wiki.sc4devotion.com/index.php?title=DBPF, plugins are a type of database file that is proprietary to Maxis.  I could not find any more information, so I am not sure if being proprietary means that anyone can make one of these (or at least one in this certain subset), but that only Maxis/EA  can use them in the game.  If all the mods here and on SC4devotion cannot be used by this game, it might be a "good" city simulation game, but it would really be an "open source" version of SC4.  I am not certain if I expressed this very well, but I think how all the mods (such as fancier power plants, etc.) here and elsewhere could be used (or if they could at all) would be a very important consideration. As for what sunk the "open source" version of SC2000, I think the artwork should be "crowdsourced" (I hope I am using that term correctly).  That is, a list of what artwork is needed (power plants, churches, etc.) should be posted on the appropriate forums here and on SC4devotion, etc., what format they need to be in, etc., and use that as the artwork for the game.
Those are 3 considerations that I think would have to be resolved before such a project could even be started.

KOSC Presents: Industrial Revolution Mod - Base FA Filler Set
      Introduction
This is a set of filler lots for dirty, manufacturing, and hi-tech industry geared towards adding FA support to the originals. The set was designed with IRM in mind and as such, utilizes matching bases and walls from that of T Wrecks' original release.
      Package Overview
This package contains a set of 12 wall filler lots: 4 for dirty, manufacturing and hi-tech industry respectively. FA2 (2x1) and FA3 (3x1) are supported and each type comes with a mirrored version. With the exception of I-HT variants - which are wall-less pieces - both I-D and I-M use the same walls as the originals.
Lot stats are designed to match the original IRM fillers as closely as possible. Positioning indicators are present to help with lot placement and alignment. Every lot is practically neutral, with negligible amounts of pollution, no power/water consumption and cost nothing to maintain. It takes §5 to bulldoze a lot and are extremely cheap to plop (§5 for I-D, §6 for I-M, §7 for I-HT).
The lots are located in the landmarks menu and are positioned in-line with the originals.
      Install Instructions
Drop the files in your My Documents/SimCity 4/Plugins folder.
      Dependencies
Use with the Industrial Revolution Mod and the associated filler sets is highly recommended! These lots would look out of place otherwise. If you have the dependencies for the base mod and the original fillers, you will NOT need any additional dependencies.
Standalone users will need the following:
      Props
BSC MEGA Props CP Vol. 1 SFBT Essentials Textures
Railyard and Spur Textures, Mega Pack 1.02 KOSC_FA$Grass.DAT (Included) [TGN Texture Replacements Coming Soon!] Acknowledgements
Thanks to all the content creators behind the props and textures that made this possible! Thanks to T Wrecks for the original Industrial Revolution Mod.
      Enjoy!

Those are relots relot of Anubis89 excellent  Old SmallTown Rail stations. All hail to him.

      Tariel Trees Evergreens

I like all SC4 trees, seasonal or not. But I noticed over the years that I preferred the more varied, often lighter green, spring version of many seasonal trees (those that have a spring season). Even the beautiful Girafe evergreen trees (where would we be without them ?) are a bit too dark for me. In fact, all summer versions of all trees look the same, too dark green for me. So I decided to get me some spring-only version of the seasonals I liked and was likely to use in my lotting or relotting.
Here they are : CP trees, JENX (Xannepan) Trees (among which his uniquely beautiful Willow Tree), and PK (Porkissimo) Trees. I separated the more numerous CP trees in three folders, so you can pick and choose.
      • TL-CPv1 & v2 Evergreens 1
      • TL-CPv1 & v2 Evergreens 2
      • TL-CPv1 & v2 Evergreens 3
      • TL-JENX Evergreens
      • TL-PK2 Evergreens
      • TL-Trees Evergreen TestLots : they will show up in your Parks menu ; they are TEST lots, to show what the trees look like in YOUR game (to check if you do have the deps, for instance…) ; then you can take them out so as not to clutter your menu. (Remember to let the game run for about a year, at speed to see them show up).
The trees are optional. Meaning they can stay in your plugins folder if you wish : as long as they don’t load last, they won’t change anything. If loading last, they will change into springy evergreens any such seasonals used on any lot. I repeat : If you want to get them, they must load last.
If you want to use them for your own lots-relots, they are in the Lot Editor under their original names. Remember you still must stack them (yes, that fun part…). The JENX “xmas” prop is for the fourth season so that they don't disappear in what should have been spring. For the PK trees, and JENX Willow tree, just put another summer prop on top of the winter one, it should do the trick.
The originals’ properties haven’t been changed.
Many thanks to my technical gurus, Rsc204, Kosc and Dreadnought. And especially Rivit, who lighted my SC4world and is always generously ready to help. And the guys and gals on the forums (Twalsh, Tyberius06, Matias93, Fantozzi, Catty-cb, Corinamarie…). We need help when we begin peeking under the hood of SC4.
