About This File

The Earth

This map encompasses the entire earth and is 100% scale accurate.  This is now possible thanks to an underutilized multi-threading and data compression feature of the 2013 release of SCMapper.  Thanks to the new upgraded version of mapper, what was formerly a long iterative process of translating greyscale color values from geotiff DEM satellite data into elevation markers within the .sc4m file is now a simple iterpolative process requiring significantly less filespace.  (New filesize is X^(1/4) of old filesizes when utilizing the compressor)

This means it is now possible to translate the entire body of Digital Elevation Data into a single SC4 region while losing none of the resolution! (provided you have the ram)  Since I don't have time to render 50 million city tiles, you'll have to live without the render region shot.  I have provided the preview image from Mapper, albeit without the several thousand gridlines so you can actually see it.

Requirements:  The 2013 version of SC4Mapper, 64-bit OS with at least 4-gigs of ram.

Map Size: 40,000km x 20,000km, is scale and terrain accurate.

Installation Instructions:

1.  Simply open SC4Mapper and choose "create region"

2.  Navigate to and select the .sc4m file and config.bmp file you just downloaded.

3.  Save your region and play SC4!

If your region does not appear quite how you want, it is quite possible your computer Needs Moar Cowbell.

Happy Gaming, and remember: the world is a wonderful place, so have a great day.

This is the best joke yet because it has Cowbell.   :D

Lol! Ok.  I'll be playing this region for years......if I can squeeze it on my system. Perhaps a hard drive just for this.

Please make a 32 bit version! :meh:

I need to go to the store and get more RAM, hmmm, maybe I will have it shipped to me, perhaps my car is not big enough to put all of the RAM sticks in it.

HA! Still got it to work. My computer still needs the cowbell 2.0 update for this file, though.

If we use this, this will be one super huge replica of our home planet in Sim City 4 if we have ALL the different architectual building syles for Asia, Europe, Mexico, (the original Sim City 4 building style) for United States and Canada, Austrailia, New Zeland, and Africa, ALL in Sim City 4 with different road textures from Europe, Asia, United States and Canada (the original road style for SC4 for US and Canada), and Mexico.

It will be too difficult to have the cars drive on the right side of the road (United States, Canada, Korea, China, Germany, France, South America, Mexico); and the left side of the road (United Kingdom, Japan, Italy, Austrailia, New Zeland, South Africa, Bahamas, Bermuda, Tahiti) all at once at same time in Sim City 4.

If it were to take 1 minute per tile, it would take 95 years to render this map.

Even at ten tiles per second it would still take 57 days.

Left hand side Italy? They drive on the right hand side.
