MHW Total Retexture Mod version 1.2 - US textures

 

This mod is was included on the NAM from versions 31 to 37.

 

What is the MHW Total Retexture Mod?

This mod will totally retexture your Maxis Highways to match any US styled textures. This will retexture every single Maxis highway texture, including the NAM interchanges.

 

Are there any issues?

Unfortunately, due to the way Maxis Highways are UV-assigned, there are some texture issues, mainly with the NAM interchanges. This cannot really be easily avoided from a texturer's point of view, but the current texture issues aren't really that serious.

If you happen to spot any other issues, please let me know.

 

How do I install this mod?

To install this mod, unzip the downloaded file to Documents/SimCity 4/Plugins

IMPORTANT: Ensure the included .dat file is INSIDE a folder in your Plugins, for example the path might be Documents/SimCity 4/Plugins/zz_folder-name/retexture.dat

Recommended Mods:

Network Addon Mod, available here.

 

Incompatible Mods:

This mod is incompatible with any other mod which alters the textures/models of the Maxis Highways, for example Project Symphony included in the Network Addon Mod, or any other Maxis Highway retexture mod.

Unbelievable. It's almost a shame that Project Symphony will make this outdated. The textures are perfect, and you've even already done all of the custom interchanges! And there'll be a Euro version soon? You. Are. A. Boss.

After some quick testing, here's some suggestions for an update:

- Change the euro-like road textures on the diamond interchanges to default road textures. Since this is the American version of the mod, I would think that American road textures should go with it.
- Work on the Trumpet and Y interchanges. I know they're weird and finicky, but I think you could do a better job.
- As you mentioned yourself, there's that weird yellow color on the ramp barriers.

Other than that it's awesome!

As I'm getting back into SC4, I'm extremely happy to see this, as I still enjoy MHW sometimes. 5/5 stars. Uber good job Sammy!

Wow, what a feat! Years and years of piecing half-finished and/or half-obsolete stuff together with fixes, and here you come and upload a complete texturing mod. That must have been an awful lot of work, thank you for sharing the brilliant result with us! :)

Completely agree. In the past I had to search various place for asphalt highway cosmetics packs, asphalt interchange retextures, etc. This is all one package, and the textures are seamless and absolutely perfect. Thank you very much :)

@ [b]JLH[/b]: Please ensure that the .dat file is in a [b]subdirectory [/b]of your Plugins, eg, create a new folder called ZZZ_MHW_Retexture_Mod and [i]then [/i]put the .dat file in there.
@ [b]Cef[/b][b]ien[/b]: They are textured, it's just I need to alter the textures for them.

Ok, I've quickly patched the previously European MHW-Road junction pieces, the road intersections should now all be Americanised. Just a minor change, hopefully the next version will include the slip road barrier fix and maybe even NAM intersection alterations.

Wow. Wonderful job! As the creator of the partial y, full Y and trumpet interchanges, I can definately appreciate the work that you have done and the painstaking tedium required. Those interchanges never looked better!
