  1. Hyder, AK, USA and Stewart, BC, Canada

    Version 1.0.0

    258 Downloads

Hyder, Alaska and Stewart, British Columbia are separated by the Hyder–Stewart Border Crossing. This 4x6 large tile region is to scale at 403 km². Half of this region is still in BC so I guess I'll still count it as the seventh region in my British Columbia series. Hyder is Alaska's easternmost town and describes themselves as the Friendliest Ghost Town in Alaska! Despite being landlocked and only being accessible by road from Stewart, it's a popular tourist destination for those wishing to visit Alaska without driving the length of the Alaska Highway. It's geographically American but runs on almost everything Canadian. Two versions are available to download: The SC4M file requires SC4 Mapper to set up. The png/config file for if you have a Mac or have preference for the ingame region import function. This version of the region requires downloading High Elevation Import Mods w Erosion Control Parameters and using "Mallow's Original 2500m.dat" file. Installation instructions are listed below. Note: The png/config will render somewhat different than the SC4M version. The first region screen preview shown here is the sc4m version with the Appalachian Terrain Mod, the second preview is the same with Cascadia Tree Controller applied, and the last preview is the png/config version with no mods. Region Installation Instructions for the png config version 1. Navigate to your SimCity "Regions" folder on your computer. 2. Create a new folder for the region in this folder and move the grayscale map png file and config file from this download into the folder. IMPORTANT: Follow the next few instructions so your region doesn't render underwater 3. Download High Elevation Import Mods w Erosion Control Parameters: https://community.simtropolis.com/files/file/16790-high-elevation-import-mods-w-erosion-control-parameters/ 4. Take only "Mallow's Original 2500m.dat" from the download and place it in your "Plugins" folders. 5. If you have any terrain mods such as the Columbus Terrain Mod, Middle European Climate Mod, or Appalachian Terrain Mod, etc. or related files you will probably have to temporarily remove them from the "Plugins" folder for the region to install correctly. 6. Launch SimCity 4 and load the new region folder you made. The region is flat but the tile layout is visible. 7. Hold the Ctrl+Shift+Alt+R buttons together which will display a file navigator in the upper left. 8. Navigate to the png file and select it. The game will show a screen as if it's loading a city tile. 9. Be patient and wait for the game to render the entire new region one tile at a time. Don not interrupt or switch away from this until it is completed and the game returns to region view. 10. Your region is done and ready to play! 11. After exiting the game, remember to remove "Mallow's Original 2500m.dat" and replace any Terrain mods in your "Plugins" you may have temporarily removed. Photo by flickr user Philip Morton. Break the grid! Kill the power! Here's an offering from downtown Juneau, Alaska. This is the Triangle Building on Franklin Street near the state house. As far as I can tell from the internet, it's occupied by a bookseller, a doll museum, and an art gallery. So this is an eclectic one. As far as game stuff goes, it's the usual but I forgot to do an icon. At least I didn't quit Batting though--I'm getting back in the swing! Download includes left and right rotations and nightlighting 2x 1x1 eyecandy landmark lots Enjoy!
  3. I have a feeling that at least a few of you will find this interesting.
  4. The Iditarod

From the album Winter Wonderland (S3-21-M)

The Iditarod is a dog sled race that runs every March from Anchorage to Nome, Alaska. Traversing the Alaskan wilderness, the trail takes mushers and their teams of dogs through 1,049 miles of tundra and spruce forest and harsh weather conditions. This scene depicts a camp at a checkpoint along the route. Straw has been laid out on the snow for the sled dogs to provide insulation as they rest. Mushers gather to restock essential supplies that will tie them over until they reach their next checkpoint. Snow still coats the trees, attesting to the severe cold that prevents melting even in the middle of the day under full sun. Full-sized image in the first comment.
  5. Transport Infrastructure Part 2

The region so far: Running through the western part of the metro area, Cascadia National Route 215 enters the area at intersection with Ozio Rd in the suburb of Westridge. Then has an interchange with the southern end of the unfinished Beltway 10. The freeway continues north through the cities of Christmas Place and Easton. Just off the Repsdorph Blvd is the Easton Train Station, Served by Jaketon MetroRail. After passing through Easton, 215 meets Beltway 10 again, where it meets the other partial loop, Interstate 206. Then 215 goes through the city of North Easton before heading north through the mountains towards Point Barrow. Back in Collier County, branching off from Interstate 6, the Franklin Parkway acts as a business route through the town of Palmont Franklin Parkway then continues toward to the Palmont Train Station, and the main entrance for the Jaketon International Airport (The Avenue Stub). After passing the Airport, the I-6 Managed Lanes become the Collier Tollway, and head north through land slated to be developed as residential communities, then meets Interstate 3.
  6. Transport Infrastructure Part 1

The Region so far: Interchange of Interstates 3 and 206 in Southeast Jaketon. Which then run conjoined north, having an interchange with Interstate 6. And then the Interstates go their separate ways in Northeast Jaketon, with 206 making a partial loop around the city. And Interstate 3 heading north toward the southern end of Interstate 1, before heading off northeast toward the Prudhoe Bay/Deadhorse. The beginning of the Interstate 6 Managed Lanes/HOV in suburban Collier County. What will become Downtown Jaketon, on the shore of Lake Jaketon. The Jaketon Central Rail Terminal, Serving the Alaska State Railroad North Slope and Dalton Lines, as well as local commuter traffic, right next to Fire Station #1. The intersection of the East-West Jaketon Commuter Line and the North-South Alaska State Railroad. Alaska State Railroad passing under Interstate 206 near the suburb of Saleme, North of Jaketon.
  7. Background

Jaketon, Alaska, capital of the nation of Cascadia, comprising the Pacific Northwest of the old United States, the Pacific Coast of Canada, and the State of Alaska, lies nestled in a large, flat valley in the Brooks Range. (More info about Cascadia can be found Here and here) The city plays host to the headquarters of most Cascadian national government departments, as well as all foreign embassies. This City Journal will showcase the city as it develops into Alaska's largest metropolis. Constructive criticism is highly appreciated! If you would like to have an embassy representing your Simnation appear in the city, and are able to create one as a BAT (as I cannot. At all. It's embarrassing how bad I am at it) feel free to find a way to get it to me! I'm working at laying down the road/highway/rail network right now, but as soon as I finish that, I'll upload the next entry to showcase it before I start development. I've had this metro area on every computer I've ever had in some form or fashion, and was recently inspired to rebuild it, and showcase it. Hope y'all find this interesting!
  8. Aniakchak Bay

    Version 1.01

    1,181 Downloads

Overview This is a map of Aniakchak Bay, located in the Aleutian Ranges in Alaska. It was made using heightmaps generated by terrain.party. The map was taken at the maximum resolution of 60km, which means it was shrunk considerably to fit within the 5x5 buildable area. Some manual editing was done, primarly smoothing terrain and making some small modifications to better suit playability. This is a Boreal map. Description Aniakchak Bay is a fairly small and challenging map, with somewhat limited buildable area due to the vast mountain ranges as well as the ocean. The location boasts an abundance of forests, as well as large swarths of fertile land in the valley. A couple of streams run from the mountains to provide fresh water for your starting city. This map is suited for small to medium-sized cities. Connections Railway: 4 connectors - 2 from the west, 1 from the north, 1 from the east. Highway: 2* connectors - 1 from the west, 1 from the east. The one at the west side branches off into a bypass route from outside the buildable area. Ship and Airplane: 3/4 connectors respectively. Other Info Starting City: Middle (Default) Trees Used: 101,000 Estimate Buildable Area: 39% Installation Drop the .crp file into your .../Colossal Order/Cities_Skylines/Maps/ folder. Highly Recommended Unlock all 25 Tiles Mod - Allows you to work around the mountain ranges somewhat. This is my first map for C:S. Go easy!
  9. This will, hopefully, be the future home of my custom BAT's, but for now, my ideas. I am hoping to start BAT-ing some buildings around where I live, here are some ideas. Keep in mind that I am looking for dimensions, especially height, on these. First up, teddy bear plaza: I dont know much about the place except what stores are in there. I am hoping to get some dimensions. How tall do you think it is? (in meters) Links to both images on google maps: http://goo.gl/maps/CyPYz http://goo.gl/maps/oeLHZ
