[Development] The Day Major Fantozzi went Farming

All my agricultural lots were rebalanced to fit Colossus Farming Mod, especially later stages. While I still don't have proper region to grow later stage farms, during tests everything looked more than good. -
Many lots in one menu icon

You can make building family (for example CO$$$ 4x4 buildings) and one lot associated with them. While it reduce number of menu icons, but buildings on lot plop randomly. There are also DAMN menu menager, and Menu Menagment Lots, but for me they are like black magic. -

You can just make copy of Your plugins folder and rename it to Plugins_1 (or something else). This way, if You mess with something, You have backup and restore broken files. -

While I consider NAM and CAM (especially edited to work with SPAM and IRM) essential to play SimCity 4, they shouldn't be part of MODPACC. Some fixes (like to Wren Insurances) could be added to MODPACC 0, but in a way to easly overwrite them by CAM instalation. As Barton said, this is pilot for now. To test whatever it works, so keep it simple. Later on we can add dedicated CAM or NAM addon. -

I am against using any external tool im MODPACC. Not only to keep it simple, but also because sometimes it is (almost) impossible to use them in modern OS. Also - what is opinion of creators and admins about content of MODPACC? Asking active users for permission is easy. Some users were not active for ages. And many readmes contained very prohibitive terms of re-use. -

While for personal use I prefer #1, public version should be closer to #2 - original lots & desc in clearly labeled folder overriden by MODPACC files. Everything with proper ReadMe. #4 can be tricky - Number one issue against SC4 are mod installers. Many hate them and creating new one, with complicated menu will not help. Who will use MODPACC? Veteran with almost 20 years of SimCity 4 experience or some newbie who found Simtropolis via Google Search? Regional or thematic MODPACC's are great concept and I have ideas for 2 or 3, but this is collosal task, while our manpower is small. -

Unless we add 5 GB of plugins load times are bearable, so if creators don't want this we have to accept. But it brings to me other question: Are we going to edit files? Model editing is big no, but what about relots? Rebalancing stats (to fit with maxis buildings)? Lot order on menus? Name and description? -

We can package only lot, desc and model files into dat, and place rest in some clear and simple folder structure. Maybe we could make both? After selecting files, pack most common props, fixes, etc. In MODPACC 0, and rest in MODPACC 1. -

I think fix/essentials MODPACC is biggest priority, as many other mods depends on them, but is smallest in scope. Maxis style MODPACC is next. We should for now focus on this proposals. Starting too many MODPACS in the same time will only bring problems. -

As Barton said, MegaUltra packs don't work, because either they are unsorted mess, or too subjective. I see starter pack as something small - fixes, several most used dependencies, relots, some civics, utilities and growables, 1 GB max. No NAM, CAM, park sets, flora&terrain mods, etc. As user friendly as possibile. -

In my opinion downloading someone else modpack creates more problems than it solves. All modpacks I found are really messy (confilicting mods, maxisnite vs darknite, outdated, or just poor quality). Creating plugin folder by someone from 0 is also nightmare, and to make it correctly, user have to know a lot about game and tools available. There is no "Newbie pack", that introduce new players to game and show its potential in friendly way, not by cluthering menus with 100s of random lots. -
