Just to clarify, 0.5% property tax is yearly. So, if this rate implemented to the game, it will be 0.04%. Of course, you can only input up to 1 place after the dot so it will be 0%, or no income at all. To gain income, you have to input 0.1% or greater. So, the tax will 1.2% annually. Correct me if I wrong. Thanks.

Maybe, we can't make a city solely on 1% property tax. We need to simulate other tax through for example, business deals and transportation fares/tolls. If it's possible to make city-owned company in the game, I want to do so. But, it didn't.

Playing Around with the In-Game Lot Editor
Propfam replied to CorinaMarie's topic in SimCity 4 General Discussion
Hello everyone, Speaking of Ingred, I had Ingred.ini in the game's Apps folder in the past. I installed BAT and LE. Unfortunately, the file lost and I don't know how to produce the file again. I have a suggestion, how about if we fix the UI to be less buggy and most importantly, it doesn't alter the region just to edit. Instead, it's just like LE. You can place props in the UI and etc. Thanks.- 45 Replies

Hello everyone, The title sounds like off-topic but I will give some on-topic content here. 2019 will end and 2020 will come. This signify 2010 decade will over and 2020 decade will come. I know this is an abstract thing but I will give the explanation. The 2010s is full of innovations. In the SimCity 4 community, the innovations include more FLEX implementations, CAM 2.0, DLL modding, CTD fix and recently, savegame modification, extensive dataview modding, MySimtropolis, better mapping techniques, and as simple as R$$ traffic noise fix. These innovations already affect us: FLEX implementations ease network development, CAM 2.0 makes the wishes of the CAM user realized, CTD fix makes the game more stable and less work to lost, savegame modification makes ploppable growables possible, extensive dataview modding makes viewing other aspect of the gameplay possible, MySimtropolis archives members, better mapping techniques pushes mapping community to the next level, and R$$ traffic noise fix lessens the frustration of the player while growing residentials. The 2020s is expected to be year of extensive DLL modding, extensive bug fixing, NAM 37, advanced scripting, much better mapping, etc. These innovations affects every aspect of SimCity 4 gameplay, from RCI, graphics, buildings, networking, to even stability. The quality of life will be improved significantly. Let's hope that these things could happen in 2020s. What do you think about 2020? What wishes you wish? Thanks.

City previously loaded, now crashes when attempting to load
Propfam replied to glorified_toaster's topic in SC4 Bugs & Technical Issues
I got some info from the LEX And in the comment section Thanks. -
Or why not ourselves as a community? In the future, the donations to this site may be sufficient enough to buy the game. We just need finance and legal team to do so. After the negotiation dealt, we will release the source code to the public. Anyone can use this code for purpose you have been explained in your reply. The side effect is interesting. Today, SimCity 4 is sold in GoG.com and other marketplace for $19.99. If we make it open source, the funding will switch to donation and the game ceased to exist in GoG.com and other. Or, the game may not ceased to exist but there will be a sudden price drop to free. Yes, 0 dollars for a honestly good game, especially you can mod it whatever you want. Thanks.

Neighbor Connection is FUUUUUUULLLLLL of BUGS!
Propfam replied to Propfam's topic in SimCity 4 General Discussion
Before we start, let me explain the neighbor connection first. Water in the 1st city of the Project Census is supplied by 4 Supply cities (currently, only 1 has been operational). Then, the 1st city sells the water to the 2nd city. After that, the 2nd city sells the water to the 3rd city. (In other words, it is a circular water line) And, the problem begins. I don't know this is a feature or a bug. But, I can sell the water in the 3rd city to the 1st city. The 1st city needs to pay water to the 3rd city that the city rightfully have, while the 3rd one is getting lots of money doing so. Why does the 1st city blindly accept water from the 3rd city? They should check the water network to prevent this from happening. Thanks. -
Neighbor Connection is FUUUUUUULLLLLL of BUGS!
Propfam replied to Propfam's topic in SimCity 4 General Discussion
Previously, I was using around 50 wind power plants. This gives about 50.000 MW (if I recall correctly). Recently, I switched to 5 hydrogen power plant (yes, with BuildingPlop cheat) because the industrious 6th city in the Project Census region is requiring lots of power. This gives about 250.000 MW and enough powering the city. In recent years, the commute time of the other one in an experiment region has been dropped to around 50 minutes. That's possible because I have made more commercial zones. Some of them became a CBD. The commute time may become lower in the future. About tax, you're right. I've set the R$, C$, IR, and ID tax to 20%. The rest is 10%. In recent years, I turned down the rest tax to 0% because I have lots of money. My goal for the cities in the experiment region is to build an ideal city, not necessarily realistic ones and yet, I still get lots of money, from tax (although, I'm not getting from it anymore) and the toll booth. Thanks. -
Hello, Sorry for disturbing your activities but this is important post. Although I'm a 8-grader (next semester I will be 9-grader), I want to change the community, change my country and even the world to be more positive. I want the world to be developed, clean and fair. I want the health of the world population is good. I want mass transits to be accessible by many people. Yes, those might sound crazy and I think like that too. But, regardless of craziness, I still want to change the world because the result of it is way better than the craziness. So, what should I do to change the world? Be a YouTuber like this: https://www.youtube.com/channel/UCmpgcbIruOQ2LDiB6gMuSeA? Or, should I be a designer? Or, should I be a coder because the coding can create things like blockchain, machine learning etc? Should I be a 3D artist and modeler? Or, should I be a modder? I've tried those (except YouTube) but still no result. The problem is I can't focus on those because I worrying about the usefulness of mastering those skills. If I'm a YouTuber, I can't help people, for instance, in parts of the world for clean water directly. If I'm a designer, I can't code, which is essential for 21st century economy. If I'm a coder, I can't design because I want to be a next Steve Jobs (or more specifically, John Ive) of design. If I want to be 3D artist and modeler, my laptop can't render scenes in short amount of time with Blender Cycles without a render farm and the render farm I choose is free so I must contribute back in order to regain access to the service. If I learn both, I can't imagine how the time should be: it might be chaos, again due to my limitations. If I'm a modder, it's nothing with the world in general, only the game community I contribute (but, modding isn't bad, though, but I consider the modding as a hobby). If I pick the fields myself, I can't measure the usefulness because I'm not competent with those. So, I need your help: can you advice me with those fields? I want competent people with those fields or competent people in other fields. Please don't bully me because it's breaks the site rules and disturbing. Sorry for my bad English because English isn't my native language. Thanks.

Hello, I seen our YouTube channel has almost no subs. Yeah, ~200 subs. It's so small in today's YouTube where people has 30,000 to even 100,000 subscribers. So, we need to develop our channel and eventually compete with ConflictNerd, for instance. First, we need to setup our crew. It includes cameraman, video editor, script writer, lawyer (if needed) and so on. It should be pro, high quality, and doesn't do dirty practices (including clickbait, title/thumbnail that doesn't match with the content). Second, we need to decide which content we need to upload or streamed. I think news, tutorials and city journals are great to be uploaded or streamed, especially if they are unique and not rigid. Third, we can start making contents, look at the feedback and make future videos based on the feedback. Fourth, promote our channel word by word or other techniques. Fifth, we can apply this step to other platform, including expanding to other platform (IGTV etc). For monetization, I think donations and Patreon should be enough, don't add ads. Let me know your opinions as a reply to this topic. Thanks.

Hello, I will plan to move to a new laptop in the future. For now, I will reinstall my PC. Before I going to the point, I will explain why I do that. In the first time I get the laptop, my laptop has been installed with Windows 7. Then, I installed Linux on it, specifically if I right, Ubuntu 16.04. The system serves very well, I can install some software on it, until it pops up "The system has a problem". Then, I installed Fedora 25 but there are a ton of issues: asking my password to access unmounted drives, my printer's function (Fuji Xerox because my cousin's father have a home document printing business) can't be used properly and flash/thumb drives becoming read-only for some reasons. So, I moved on to Ubuntu MATE. The distro is good as Ubuntu but for some reasons, I went to Manjaro. The distro is well-built but not too polished. Then, I back to Windows 10. Now, the system is runs very well but I need *nix environment and also the free of "spyware"-y thing. The WSL is fine but I want to have integrated one. In the past (before my new laptop), I've tried older version of Ubuntu, Linux Mint and elementary OS. For elementary OS, I think it's just an experimental effort to copy macOS UI. There are tons of broken things on that distro, broken file manager, doesn't have huge library of apps and more. So, I want a reliable, stable and polished OS. What distro/OS should I use? Should I keep with my Windows 10? Thanks. Additional info: should I upgrade to an SSD? I found that the 240 GB of best SSD (Samsung EVO 850) is priced at Rp1.210.000 or about $86 including tax (or around $50 excl tax). But, my drive is rated as the image on the bottom of the post.

Hello, I have a news. I sent my request to coop to a highly-appreciated and famous person for making a YouTube chanel. After few minutes, he responded to me that he saw the opportunity to be on YouTube. Due to RL, he can't make a YouTube channel. But, there is a room for replies and I will give you updates on it as possible. If the coop is approved, this is a huge deal on our community. We can reap the benefits from the YouTube channel, although not all of them is direct to us. We can use the benefits to create our own channel and we can reap even more, etc. Thanks.

Hello, I have a slight complaint: I think we should rename Chief of Staff because it's misleading. I've included the screenshot on the attachment (I can't access Imgur). For instance, people may think @tariely is a staff due to the title, but as you can see below, he/she isn't a staff. So, there's a little bit of misleading, especially there's "staff" on it. Correct me if I'm wrong. Thanks.

Hello everyone, As @Dirktator said in the news board, we are affiliated with GoG.com, a big digital game store in the world and one of few DRM-free stores. You've see the Gwent banner at right of some pages, especially home page. If you click that, you'll support Simtropolis indirectly because Simtropolis has chance to get a part of the income. Currently, we don't review something in GoG, but there's chance to do so. Always stay tuned if you want to see it. Message to staff: I hope you to stay neutral when you review anything about the GoG. The affiliation just for link, not the content. Why neutral? Because the GoG language doesn't always reflect us. Thank you.

Hello, I've experienced a game crash when I am placing a Superparking piece with DAMN, even I have met the dependency requirement. This is not only produced by the 3x ortho piece, this can be produced by other pieces too. I don't know why the game crashes when I am placing the piece. Even, the Paeng's doesn't crash the game. My SimCity 4 is 1.1.640 with NAM, CAM, Sudden Valley, MGB's SV TGN, SCILT, Radius Doubler, IRM, Maxis Prop with Correct Name (bldgprop1, bldgprop2 and a fix), SC4Fix, Upgradable City Hall (Simmaster's), PEG Seaport Controller, custom DAMN menu etc. Sorry for not including the crash report. Thanks.

How many have developed ALL cities?
Propfam replied to Toby66's topic in SimCity 4 General Discussion
Hello, I've built 2 connected cities in the game's tutorial region: city with 100% progress and city with growing commercial buildings. I've set up the cities correctly, from power, water, to even transportation. But why my 2nd city doesn't get so much visitors from the another city. I think the C:S' region play is much easier than SC4. Thanks.- 34 Replies

poll How would you rate SimCity 4? (Rush Hour, Deluxe or not)
Propfam replied to Toby66's topic in SimCity 4 General Discussion
SimCity 4 is a good game. SC4 offers realistic simulation with little cost to performance, unlike Cities: Skylines. But, I prefer to Cities: Skylines for some features, such as road customization, more power plants, Road Anarchy (mod), etc, although with higher hardware requirement. Thanks. -
2019 Simtropolis Proposal This is my repost from the PM. Corrections are in parentheses. Sorry for my repost. Hello, I'm Zaydan and I started to using my account again. I want to talk about how if we develop our YouTube channel. This is the followup from my post, but there are some realistic but kind of lacking optimism (replies). I'm not offending the poster but I think we should be optimistic. The proposal is in the next paragraphs. Background YouTube is the largest video platform in the world, before Instagram TV and Vimeo. Currently, YouTube is growing, proved by number of new users, videos' views and channels' subscribers (or subs) growing everyday. This growth should be used by us. YouTube allows us to share our content that people never know about. YouTube allows us to engage new people that we never know about and makes the community grow even bigger, possibly popular by average people. We can even set up our community on YouTube to reap up more benefits. This positive growth is beneficial and only growths everyday as the YouTube grows. In the end, our community will be growing and people will be benefited, and we just focusing on the content and adaptations. Challenges But, there are challenges before we can start YouTube. To be simple, let's we categorizes them: the staff, the content, and the engagement. Great staff allows us to create great content. But, great staff isn't easy to find. Great staff is consisted from pro and creative people. Although we have lots of them, unfortunately for our YouTube, we have only few of them. One of the lacking pros is video editors. Video editors are considered to be important, especially in this today's world. Quality content without quality editing will result on videos being marked as "low quality videos." Quality editing doesn't mean we have to use complex animations etc, but it means that even simple but proper editing is useful. We can train ourselves to be video editor, especially simple ones. But, if we want to be fast and/or complex editing, we should hire pros. But, there is a catch, hiring pros needs a lot of money, both short run and long run. The solutions maybe using some of our donation to hiring pros, making a crowdfunding, finding members that have the appropriate skills, or even ask our friend that have the skills to join us. For the creators, we will consider members that are creative and pro in the field. Same thing goes to the admin, management, etc. After forming the quality staff, the next thing is (the) content. In the last polling, tutorials followed by showcases are the most voted content. Again in the poll, SimCity (4) is the most voted game before Cities: Skylines. I think the polling is (kind of) incorrect since only a fraction of the member are voting. So, how about if we make a poll again? But this time, almost all the members are participated. This makes the decisions clear and making the concepts faster. After the polling completes, we just making the concepts and paths. They will be what things we need to do. After the concepts and paths done, now we are thinking about the engagement. In this context, engagement means engaging our existing subs and engaging new subscribers. Engaging the existing subscribers can be done by the YouTube's Community features. Also, we can try interesting features such as live streaming, premium content, etc. We can invite the existing community members to subscribing to our channel. But, engaging new subscribers is also important. Courses in the YouTube Creators are the first step to learn how to engaging new subscribers along with other important info like copyright. Also, we need to promote our channel. This can be done in many ways: word of mouth, making interesting content, or even placing some ads on the street. With quality engagement, we will get long-term success and it means that our channel is well established. The future After we got long-term success, we can move entire community to YouTube. We don't need the website except for things like STEX and this means that our site operational costs is going down, including licensing fees of Invision Community. We can grow the channel and eventually making milestones: 100.000 subs, 500K subs, 1M subs, 10M subs, etc. We can adapt our channel to other platforms, including IGTV and Vimeo. We can skip installing ads, and sign up for sponsorship and cover our costs. We can improve our production studio. Lots of things can be made if we success. But, we need to stick to our ideals, otherwise we will easily influenced by factors like the environment, other channels, etc. That's my proposal. Sorry if I have mistakes. I hope this will be considered. Thanks.
