Ardnox Comprehensive School Originally opened in 1963 as Ardnox Secondary Modern, this school was built in the typical 1960s panelled style. By the mid '70s population pressures forced the education authority to bring in portable classrooms to deal with the extra pupils. This school lot is 8x6 and has a capacity of around 750 pupils. It is a high school equivalent and I have extended the coverage slightly. Thanks go to deadwoods for the bike models (sorry they're not more visible) and to gascooker for his texture tutorials.

Industrial Unit 3 - Kone Escalators A local servicing and distribution factory for Kone Escalators. Kone are the world's 4th largest manufacturers of elevators and escalators. This building is supplied on 4x3 and 5x3 lots and grows in high density industrial areas. It supplies 73 jobs. Thanks to an anonymous modeller on www.planit3d.com for the van model.
  3. NDEX ITS Surbiton Station

If I hadn't stopped BATting I'd have made this - excellent addition to the game.
  4. NDEX ITS 280 Bishopsgate

    Nice generic looking midrise.
  5. BLaM HIDP Messier Dye

    Excellent industrial building.
  6. Medical Shopping

In the left hand picture, the lot looks like a coherent collection of buildings which over time have been built around a central square. Within the context of a city centre this lot will work well. Nice to see a new lot-maker; they are something of an endangered species.
  7. Low Wealth Mega Lot Set Vol02

The kind of development that every cities needs ... even if it doesn't really want it!
  8. HK Garden Estate Towers

Only 32 lots? You're slacking ... Seriously though, fantastic work from bixel and T Wrecks. I doubt they'll ever get used to the full in my cities (not dense enough) but I hope to see one or two appearing.
  9. UK Link Detached House

Grim?! Plain and unadorned like most 60s and 70s housing, but grim? I'd hate to think what you'd make of some of the UKs council estates!! ;)

    Version 1.0

The model is a pair of link detached houses. Typically built in the mid 60s to late 70s, link detached houses generally provided 3-bedroom detached accomodation. The link between properties is at the garage. Thanks go to barbyw for creating the lots and to geoffhaw who created custom textures for barby's lots. Game info: There are two 2x2 lots - one of which is a corner lot with the houses aligned diagonally - and a 2x3 lot. Buildings are R$$ growable for 38 residents. The straight and diagonal versions each have three subtle variants to add variety. Prop packs used in this release: BSC Mega Props - Misc Vol 1 BSC Mega Props - SG Vol 1 BSC Mega Props - D66 Vol 1
  11. Tonksies BAT Thread NDEX

For the upper storeys, couldn't you build some furnished interior boxes and light them with omni lights?
  12. Dutch Townhall Haarlem

This will make a fantastic centrepiece to any classic European style city. Wonderful building.

For reasons that I won't go into (so don't ask!) I have resigned from BSC. This is my new BAT thread and here are my current projects: Electricity substations (as seen in the old thread): Barratt semi (as seen in the old thread): ... and my current major project, the Midland Hotel:

Thanks Barby - I've PM'd you. tag_one - I'm reasonable at lotting, but things have moved on and much of the newer stuff from the dedicated lot-makers is starting to look far more real than I can make it. I would be better concentrating on my strength, which is the buildings, rather than trying to do everything and the lot be compromised.
  15. rp2005 - BATs

Barby - So I'm not the only one to know about link-detached houses then Ill Tonkso - Yes I use 3ds Max. BAT for Max makes it pretty easy to render stuff, but it's a little quirky as you have to render the LOD in normal gmax BAT to get the model file. BAT for MAX then renders the images into the model file. Night windows are something I've never got working in 3ds Max, but as I tend to use omni and target direct lights that's not an issue. One thing you will find is that it's slightly odd doing lighting as you don't have a proper night preview in 3ds MAX, so you end up working on a daytime model with the lights on. You don't get to see the proper night view until you are rendering it to the model file. Hope that helps - if you want more details on the way I render from Max just drop me a PM. OK enough of the waffle - here's the in-game preview of the link-detached houses. I've still to add gutters and some interior details; then I've got the lots to design. 2x2 and 2x3 are most likely. On a slightly different note - Despite the nice comment from T Wrecks on my last release I don't feel that my lot-making skills are good enough for the higher standards that are expected on current releases. I would therefore like to ask if a there is lot-maker who would like to take on building lots for my models. I am not interested in team membership - I am just looking for a collaborator.

  17. BSC Menu Management Lot Mod

Wow. I remember this idea being discussed way back on the BSC board. Nice to finally see the idea come to fruition.

norbutt2001 - Like many such buildings there's a few things the tower could be. In reality it's an office building with retail in the base, as someone said it would also make a good hotel - you've added another good suggestion. Whether people would want three variations on the same building I guess we'll see once I get the office version finished and released. wallasey - What can I say? The Bradford buildings I've done so far are some of my favourite models and you are absolutely right that Bradford offers some great buildings (your photos included St George's Hall, but did you see the Town Hall too?). If I keep making stuff I'll definitely get back to Bradford (Leeds too, hopefully). As far as the link-detached house goes, you find them all over the country, they tend to have been built in the mid 60s to late 70s. Mine was on Canvey Island in Essex - I'm a Yorkshireman by choice, rather than birth .

sloppet - Glad you like the link-detached houses. They are based on one of the houses I lived in when I was a kid. JayStimson - You're right about the tower having potential, but I need to get my BATting skills back up to speed before I try to finish it.
  20. rp2005 - BATs

Barbyw, tag_one: As you will have noticed the bungalow is now on the STEX (complete with nightlights!). Hope you like it. Next up is a pair of link-detached houses - so called because the houses are detached, but they are joined at the garage. Detailing and lighting still to do.
  21. GooberGen Pharmeceuticals

A.Huxley Industries considers that 'Fukitol' infringes it's patents for Soma - GooberGen should probably hire some expensive lawyers!! Nice addition to the GooberGen empire.

UK Detached Brick Bungalow This is a simple detached bungalow designed to sit comfortably in UK style suburbia. The building is R$$ and houses 10 residents. It is supplied with two 1x2 and one 2x2 lots. There are two dependencies for flora and garden furniture: BSC Mega Props Vol 1 Gascooker Props Vol 5
  23. Wagner and Diehl

Nice work. Good use of diagonals at the rear of the building too - helps add to the character.
  24. rp2005 - BATs

T Wrecks - Thanks OK, something simple to ease my way back into BATting - mainly detailing left to do.
  25. As a content contributor, the worst thing about the change from ST4 to ST5 has been the loss of the STEX overview page, which was always the best way to follow what was happening on the STEX. Following comments on your work is virtually impossible now, unless you've got a seriously small collection of uploads. I really hope the overview page is due to make a reappearance...
