Missing Puzzle Piece in NAM?
ScottFTL replied to Cheiromancer's topic in SC4 Bugs & Technical Issues
You have installed the updated NAM Controller from the NAM Essentials, but you do not have the ANT Plugin and RHW installed. The missing puzzle pieces are for the RHW. If you do not want the RHW and do not want to leave things as it, you need to remove the NAM files and reinstall. Do not install the updated NAM Controller from the NAM Essentials this time. If you want to use any of the available Additional Bridges, you can install this plugin from the NAM Essentials. The installer for the NAM Essentials will prompt you for Additional Bridges, Updated NAM Controller or both. If you do want the RHW, you should probably still remove the NAM files and reinstall. You need to select the ANT Plugin in the NAM installer then install the NAM Essentials with the Update NAM Controller or both options then finally install the RHW version that is compatible with the latest NAM. I hope this helps. EDIT: Just to make things clearer - you do not need the NAM Essentials unless you want Additional Bridges or RHW. -

Chicago CTA Stations & Other Gilded Age Grandiosities
ScottFTL replied to ardecila's topic in SC4 BAT & Lot Workshop
The CTA station looks amazing already. Really nice work, Ardecila. And I'm going to second 6underground - more Art Deco! -
First and foremost, thanks for your efforts to get this far, Buggi. I would really like to see a fix for the graphical crashes in the game. I have used both ATI and NVIDIA graphics cards and have experienced crashes to the desktop when changing the zoom level with both. I have not been able to isolate any particular steps, but I have a sneaking suspicion that automata and animations for construction, road building, etc make the problem worse. I have also see the game crash to desktop when scrolling. It is not just custom content that causes this either. I have seen both crashes with a straight install with no plugins. However, custom content does make both problems worse for me. I doubt this is enough details for you or your contact at Maxis to get far, but I thought I would at least mentions it. I have found that many people have these same problems, althought it seems some have it worse than others. I would love SC4 a thousand times more if I didn't have to remember to save before zooming or scrolling or risk losing work. I also agree with others that the bug with TE network pieces crashing the game should be high on the list. The bug is very reproducible, so that should be an easier one to track down. Submenus would be a huge improvement. Custom content has made many menus a chore to scroll through. Whatever changes, fixes or new abilities that come out of this will be wonderful. Even if there are limitations, I am happy to see Maxis discussing this with you.

I'm glad to see you working on train stations again, Tonks! What would we do without you? This station looks great. I don't remember a brick one before now, so this is a fantastic addition. I love shape and detail of the pedestrian bridge over the tracks. Well done!

Brenda, the station looks AMAZING! I've loved your previous work, but I think this is the best one yet. I'm really looking forward to using this one. The busses look great - very modern. I like the color variations. It looks nice to have some variety in the game.

SC4Tool - Reference and Visual Editor for BATs and Lots
ScottFTL replied to Andreas Roth's topic in SC4 BAT & Lot Workshop
Thanks, Andreas. This was an even better solution because I was able to just add the Author information. That is odd that you could not reproduce the error. I tried deleting and recreating, then I deleted and exited the program. No matter what I tried, the delete did not seem to work for some reason. I'd be happy to zip and email my DB.xml file to you, if you think there is something peculiar here. I suppose if no one else has reported the issue, it is probably not work Simrolle's time. There are so many cool new features to work on! Thanks again for your always excellent and timely assistance! -

SC4Tool - Reference and Visual Editor for BATs and Lots
ScottFTL replied to Andreas Roth's topic in SC4 BAT & Lot Workshop
EDIT: Duh, I have version 2.2.7 - you probably need to know that! I'm having a problem with the Analyzer/Importer, and I'm not sure if this is user error or a program bug. Here's the scenario: 1. I added a lot to the database on the Common Information tab. No problem. 2. I realized that I forgot to select the Author before saving - and I like my lots sorted by author - so I deleted the lot from the database. The program asks for confirmation and appears to delete the entry. 3. I open the lot from its file again, select the Author this time then save to database using the same name as before. I receive the error "This building already exists!" It's not a huge deal, but unless I am missing something here it does look like a bug. To get around my immediate problem, is there a way that I can just clear the database and start over? It was only my 2nd lot, so there's not much lost at this point. Anyway, thanks to Andreas and SimRolle for the incredible SC4Tool. I can't imagine life without it anyway - it's that useful. -

If you cannot see the road in front of this station, you need the file JENXText_Gare_Du_Nord_v1.dat from Xannepan's Gare Du Nord station. Special thanks to Swamper77 for helping me track that one down! Another excellent station, Tonks. This one is a great complement to your larger, multi-platform stations - perfect for smaller cities or suburbs. (10/10)

If you are having problems with the road in front of the station not showing, you are probably missing several unlisted dependencies: PEG Ferry Terminal, PEG IND Ferry, PEG OWW Ferry, PEG RR Service Yard and PEG Stream Kit. It took me a lot of troubleshooting with SC4Tool to figure this out, but the station is worth it... Stunning! (10/10)

SC4Tool - Reference and Visual Editor for BATs and Lots
ScottFTL replied to Andreas Roth's topic in SC4 BAT & Lot Workshop
Date: 8/20/2005 2:39:39 PM Author: simrolle you can easily add the Park Effect to your views: Edit the 'groups.xml' under the tool's System-Folder [...] By editing the groups.xml you can fully customize the output of the analyzer. quote> Thanks, Simrolle! This was very easy to do and worked perfectly. It's good to know the tool is so easy to customize. You and Andreas have really done an excellent job. -
SC4Tool - Reference and Visual Editor for BATs and Lots
ScottFTL replied to Andreas Roth's topic in SC4 BAT & Lot Workshop
Andreas and Simrolle, I'm finding the Analyser/Importer to be a great tool to look at the details of downloaded lots. It is certainly easier to use than DatGen or iLive Reader for that purpose since I don't have to convert all the values from hex. I've noticed that the Park Effect does not appear to be reported on the Building tab as best I can tell. Both the Landmark Effect and Mayor Rating Effect are displayed quite clearly. I just wanted to mention that as a possible idea for a future realease. I'm sure the transit enabling is keeping you quite busy for now. Thanks again for this wonderful tool! -
