I really don't think that SC5 will be "online-only". However, I hope that the offline mode will be as good as SC4, and not just a "beta-like" video game which does nothing without an internet connection. And I DON'T WANT to pay to unlock more buildings, cities, tile sets or the multiplayer etc. That would be lame and annoying. Please, Maxis, don't be the next MonteCristo...
-
They really should listen the SC4 community. If they're making a more colorful SimCity Societies, then Maxis is dead to me. And that would be a terrible thing since SimCity 2000 was the first game I've ever played on a PC.

Well, my wishlist is not different from what other people said here. -> Diagonal buildings (and roads, railways etc.) -> Emphasis on tourism -> The player should not be forced to create a "metropolis". I just want to create a rural area or a small city sometimes. -> Mod support of course. -> Some buildings from SimCity 2000 and 3000 should be included as a throwback. -> And speaking of SimCity 2000, Archeologies should make a comeback too (or at least a cameo).

I'm really excited about this announcement. However, I'm also quite skeptical. The pictures are obviously "concept arts", imho. They look gorgeous anyway. I just hope that this new chapter is not going to be too "social". There's nothing wrong with a multiplayer-like feature in SimCity, but I prefer the "single-player". Also, I really think that EA/Maxis should take a look at Simtropolis's buildings and modds to make SimCity 5 even better than its predecessor(s). And speaking of modds, let's just hope that SimCity 5 will be "moddable" like SimCity 4, which is quite possible.

After Castel di Rocca, I'm back with an even simpler creation made with the good old Lot Editor. Actually, those parks were made before my previous submission (Castel di Rocca), but I didn't have the time to upload them. In the .zip file there are two simple 4x4 Parks. Although their name is not going to appear in the game, just know that "albero" is italian for "tree". The original lot files are however still called "Reed Park", since this was their original name. Both parks have a Plop Cost of 400 § and a Monthly Cost of 35 § Random fountain effects included Both parks are compatible withSimCity 4 standard, so Rush Hour is not actually required. However, they're also compatible with Rush Hour/Deluxe. I hope you like it. Enjoy! -

The New Official Next Generation Sim City Wish List
blak replied to Goldfish4209's topic in City-Building Games
I read (almost) the entire topic and I must say that I agree with most of you. Today, however, while playing RH (= yes, I got it!), I sent an UFO on my city. While the UFO was still doing-what-he-likes-to-do, I've started driving a F-something (from the Area 5.1 or something like that) in order to fight against those evil aliens. Of couse, nothing happened, but I thought that it would be cool if the player / mayor was able to fight against a few not-"natural" disasters such as evil Robots and UFO . Of course, this "mode" should be optional, since SimCity is not supposed an "action" game (...I think). -
OK. First of all I'm sorry for the title of this topic, but I couldn't think a better one. Anyway, I've downloaded Rubik3 WTC Placeholder Lot BSC and also installed its dependencies. During the simulation, the Towers do not appear. Here's what happens:
-
Thanks for the answer. And yes, I thought the Tower were going to grow (much like the Airport). A few minutes ago I've realized that there are other WTC files here on Simtropolis, this time WITH the Towers. Thank you again anyway.

I don't think there is any mod designed to do that, but I could be wrong.

Fire is the only "disaster" that appears in SC4 (in particular conditions). I assume that "your fire" has appeared in the Industrial Zones. Build a Fire Station to prevent similar episodes. The other disasters (such as the volcano) do not "appear" automatically during the simulation. Unlike its predecessors, in SC4 the player / mayor is able to decide when and where use them.

OK. Among amazing jaw-dropping BAT buildings, here's a SimCity 4-compatible little creation (it doesn't require Rush Hour). It isn't even a BAT file! This little Castle was "built" with the good old Lot Editor using the well-known Castle Props, still available for download on the official SC4 website. Here's Castel di Rocca (despite the italian-like name, it's not based on any castle -at least in Italy), a 3x3 Castle. It is not meant to be a masterpiece or original, but I hope you like it anyway. Well, since I'm not an expert, this building is going to appear as a "Park" in the game (PZ1x1_ParkGreens2), but it is not going to replace the original file. Since this Castle is a Park, it will "act" like a park during the simulation (even its sound effect and name), but it is actually more "powerful" and has a "better" Landmark / Park Effect, thus increasing desirability for both Commercial and Residential buildings (at least it works for me). This building will work correctly on SimCity 4 standard, and does not require Rush Hour. However, I think it is also compatible with Rush Hour itself (that would make sense, since it works with the original game). What can I say? Oh yes: don't kill me -
I think there's a Mac version of the game: http://www.aspyr.com/product/info/23

Coal Power Plants produce a lot (and I mean a lot) of pollution. They are the "dirtiest" Power Plants in the game. Oil Plant is still very "dirty", but not as much as the Coal. Oil Plant is the best way to start a city (I think, but I could be wrong), in terms of pollution and $ (but I'm assuming that you know that already). Gas Power Plants are a relatively "clean" power source, but they're not very useful due to their low capacity. And no, I don't think that two of them will make more pollution than the Oil, but I could be wrong. Wait for more expert users though if you want better answers.
