9 pointsI didn't realize I haven't released any houses yet, so I'll be working on a house pack with some early 20th century styles...
-
6 pointsThanks y'all for the feedback. Decreased the bump strength on the window. Will wait to separate the window panes to break up the noise until after I have finished modelling the base and interiors, since creating so many separate objects slows things down considerably. @ACEfanatic02 I would follow your tinted glass tutorial but I am not sure how to implement coat tinting in Blender 3.6, which I am stuck with so long as I am on this pre-2015 Macbook I have been alerted that my growable lot for 2 N LaSalle is not functional, which comes as no surprise to me since I was brand new to modding growable lots and didn't really know what I was doing. Since I'll need to update it anyway, I am going to do a re-export that improves upon the materials: Will eventually do the same for 20 North Clark as well.

4 pointsIt does. Maybe the lights aren't powerful enough. I do need to learn omni lights, because I always have trouble with them... it could light up more than it does now. I'll probably re-light the building as it gets closer to Christmas. Bic Camera. There is a version of this building as the Sofmap. I am doing an accurate one with just billboards and the McD's and a fictionalized one with urban clothing brands on the sides (which I use for my own gameplay). Pictured is the latter. EDIT: time to learn i guess

3 pointsYes and no. There is no direct mechanism where industrial goods are used or sold by commercial buildings. However you need to have demand to build commercial and building enough without any Industrial buildings is unlikely. For example, only Industrial creates freight, the only use for which is exporting said freight. In doing so you will increase demand/demand caps which in practise allow for higher population and jobs overall in your region. That all said, provided you can keep commercial demand, you can prioritise it over Industrial. Cogeo for example was a great proponent of fulfilling commercial demand before Industrial. Because the unique lack of demand caps on CS$ and CS$$ means you can theoretically build bigger populations through this strategy. The key is that starting out you will need a good percentage of Industrial until the RCI demand cycle normalises. After that just work within the demand you have only zoning more industry when commercial demand is waining, although ideally not when used up, you want a buffer to avoid negative demand.

3 pointsHello...! Yep... I'm very slow at making BAT... I'm so sorry about that. But I've been very busy in reality lately. Here is the current status of my BAT. I'll make the back of the building someday.

2 pointsI'm pretty sure Mattb325_PostOffices.dat is his Mail Distribution Center, found in SC4D LEX Legacy - Mattb325 Commercial Pack (Dark Nite) - (source). For BSC Ships.dat I managed to track down an old link, which thanks to @simmering's LEX file index we know was part of BSC CAL Ships. I'm pretty sure this ended up in BSC MEGA Props - CAL vol01.
-
2 pointsI'm so old, I remember having to get up to change TV channels and adjust the volume.
-
2 pointsTry reinstalling the BSC common dependencies pack. Download the SC4D LEX Legacy - BSC Common Dependencies Pack, and run the cleanitol to remove any older versions. Then re-install it. The model file should be there.

Mod Manager for SimCity 4 plugins. This program handles the process of downloading and installing SimCity 4 plugins, including all their dependencies. It helps you assemble a full Plugins folder very quickly, and also keeps your plugins up-to-date and organized. Usage Prerequisites: Java 17 or later (Windows/macOS/Linux, see Adoptium for details) Mono (macOS/Linux, not needed on Windows) Enough disk space Download: Choose between the desktop application for Windows 10+, the desktop application for Linux, and the cross-platform web-app for other platforms. Verify the checksum of the downloaded ZIP file against the checksums published on Github (optional). Extract the contents of the downloaded ZIP file to any location of your choice. At first launch of the application, it guides you through the initial setup: creating a new Profile and configuring the location of your Plugins folder. Go to Find Packages to search and select packages to install (for example cyclone-boom:save-warning). There are already more than 5000 plugins with compatible metadata to choose from. Once satisfied, go to the Dashboard and hit Update to download and install the plugin files. Files are downloaded directly from Simtropolis or other sites like SC4Evermore, ToutSimCities, SimCityKurier (archived), Hide and Seek! (archived) and GitHub. If you are signed in to Simtropolis, watch out for the “Install with sc4pac” button on the STEX. It appears for plugins that can be installed with sc4pac. Start small and gradually build up your Plugins folder. Don't download everything at once. Install null-45:startup-performance-optimization-dll if you use the Windows digital edition of the game. (This adds support for plugin file paths exceeding the 260 character limit on Windows, which could otherwise be a problem for a small number of packages that use deeply-nested, long file names.) Install memo:lua-sandbox-dll if you use the Windows digital edition of the game. (This provides a more secure environment for your plugins by preventing mods from using unsafe Lua functions.) Be aware that Simtropolis has a download limit of 20 files per day for guests. To avoid this limit, go to Settings and set up your personal authentication token for Simtropolis (step-by-step guide). Alternatively, simply continue the installation process the next day. Plugins folder structure 050-load-first 060-config 075-my-plugins (your existing manually installed plugins) 100-props-textures 110-resources 140-ordinances 150-mods 170-terrain 180-flora 200-residential 300-commercial 360-landmark 400-industrial 500-utilities 600-civics 610-safety 620-education 630-health 640-government 650-religion 660-parks 700-transit 710-automata 770-network-addon-mod 895-my-overrides (your manually installed zzz-folders) 900-overrides Packages are installed into subfolders prefixed by an even number, as the order in which files are loaded by the game is important. This ensures a consistent load order. Files you install manually should be put into subfolders prefixed by an odd number (ideally before 900-overrides). Migrating an existing Plugins folder If you already have a non-empty Plugins folder and want to switch to sc4pac, start by moving the bulk of your manually installed files into a new subfolder 075-my-plugins and your zzz-folders into 895-my-overrides to ensure correct load order. Once you install more and more packages and dependencies with sc4pac, delete the corresponding older, redundant, manually installed files to avoid duplication or version conflicts. If a dependency was installed with sc4pac, there is no need to keep older manually installed copies of it. In the long run, create additional odd-numbered subfolders for better organization of your manually installed files and to fine-tune load order. Managing multiple Plugins folders The sc4pac GUI supports creating multiple Profiles. For example, you could use a unique Profile for each of your Regions. Each Profile corresponds to a Plugins folder. Important: Make sure to select distinct locations for all your Plugins folders to avoid interference between Profiles. You can use the SC4 launch parameter -UserDir:"..." to start the game with a custom location for the game's user directory, which contains the Plugins folder (and Regions folder). Uninstalling Uninstall all packages for each Profile (see Dashboard → Profile → Delete options). Delete the download cache folder (see Dashboard). Remove the profiles configuration folder (see Settings). Finally, delete the folder containing the sc4pac program files. Documentation Visit the Troubleshooting & FAQ section of the sc4pac Website for more information, or the development & support thread. To make your own uploads installable with sc4pac, see the topic about the sc4pac STEX integration. Credits A big thank you for contributions to sc4pac: @smf_16 @nos.17 @Zasco @Flann @Shadow Assassin @Cyclone Boom @CorinaMarie @Null 45 @Ulisse Wolf @timdmackey. -

Aoki, Akihabara, Tokyo Aoki is a chain in Japan that sells business-related clothing. It is one of the largest clothing chains in all of Japan, with 600 stores. This is the 8-floor building in Akihabara Electric Town in Tokyo. Also included is the two neighboring stores, the Pasela (a karaoke and entertainment center chain in Japan) and the Lammtara manga/video games/DVD store. In the back there's an Atmos shoe store (which isn't there in real life but I love Atmos), and the Moses Kebab shop, which is there in real life. 2x2 Plop, and a CS$$7 corner growable included. Dependencies: None! I finally made something without dependencies. -
1 pointTechnically, these automata are the original Maxis automata. NAM does not modify the automata. If you want a modern look for the Maxis automata, then install these mods.

1 pointSo I ended up lowering the shore and ploping the waterfront one tile backwards surrounded by road stubs. It worked Thank you for all the tips , and also @Tyberius06
-
1 pointI actually confirmed it lights up in a later post. Though the nightlights really aren't all that bright (and I have no clue how to BAT, much less do nightlighting so I kind of get what you're saying). Lammtarra in particular should have its signage glowing bright yellow and AOKI's roof should be illuminated by downward facing lights surrounding it, though that one's not as much of an issue. Still wonderful job nontheless.

1 pointThis looks very good! I think it would make a great high wealth residential, or a hotel. One suggestion is to make the ground floor more inviting. Change the small windows to be bigger windows and add more entrances and lessen the blank wall space. Maybe make some of the ground floor into retail shops or restaurants. Right now, it looks odd having just the one small door entrance for such a building of this size (in real life, it'd be considered a fire hazard and would never pass permits) and that door is hidden inside behind the shadows of the building, which is not very inviting. Here are a couple real world examples. You could even push that one door that you have inside outward by extending only the ground floor out toward the street and then putting a small garden or greenspace above it, similar to the photo below behind the flag:

1 pointI am (reluctantly) considering installing this Educational Mod in my existing region. The reason I'm considering it is that it is very easy to get a high EQ in cities with just some basic schools and libraries. I almost never need to plop a college or university, for instance. So I'd like some realism in Education. That said: 1. I'd have to bulldoze all of my existing schools, including private schools. 2. I'd have to run all custom schools through PIM-X to get the same characteristics. 3. I don't want it to mess up my region, even assuming I can bulldoze everything and fix it in PIM-X and then re-plop it again. Does anyone have any experience in using this mod, outside of CAM?
-
1 pointThe underlying pattern for it looks like this: Eventually, we'll add a FLEXRamp option so it's possible to build it without memorizing the drag patterns. -Tarkus

Time for another map! This time it's Stuttgart, Baden-Wurttemberg, Germany, located along the banks of the Neckar River. Now you too can build the home of Mercedes-Benz and Porsche in SimCity 4! The map is 8 x 8 large city tiles and is accurately scaled based on DEM data. In order to install the map you will need wouanagaine's mapper or terraformer as the file is in SC4M format. I hope you can put this map to good use, Prost! -TCC View My Full Map Catalogue Here: -

1 pointWelcome! I haven't tried the AMPS mod yet, but since you are using the original CD release of SC4D, I would suggest installing the Maxis patches first and see if that helps: Install the 1.1.638.0 update first: https://community.simtropolis.com/library/maxis/sc4/patches/UPDATE_SKU1_TO_P1_B638.exe Then install the 1.1.640.0 update: https://community.simtropolis.com/library/maxis/sc4/patches/SC4Update4BAT.exe Also, while ODD emulation may work for the original CD versions of the game with Windows 10 and 11, it's best to consider purchasing and installing the fully patched DRM-free version from GOG instead (right now it's currently on sale for only $4.99 here in the USA) [or use your CD key to claim the digital copy from EA, which should also be fully patched]. This will provide the best experience on modern hardware these days (no hassle with ODD emulation, faster install time, etc.), and it would allow you to use all of the quality-of-life improvement DLL mods. With the death of official support for most disc-based DRM technologies on Windows 10-11 and the advent of DLL mods, the disc versions are no longer supported by the community. I personally only use the CD version on legacy/"retro" machines nowadays, mainly whenever I want to experience the game like I did when I was younger (and once I've updated the game to 1.1.640.0, I usually then "upgrade" it to the GOG version).

Another week, another map! This time it's Sao Paulo, Brazil (for SimCity 4)! Sao Paulo is the largest city in Brazil, with the metropolitan area being home to 22 million people. The map is 16 x 20 large city tiles and is accurately scaled based on DEM data. Some elevation levels have been compressed to allow for game water. In order to install the map you will need wouanagaine's mapper or terraformer as the file is in SC4M format. I hope you can put this map to good use, enjoy! -TCC Maps released weekly on Tuesdays or Wednesdays (US, Pacific time), View My Full Map Catalogue Here: -

Welcome to the modern age of "clean"er coal power. With the advent of new technologies and the desire of Sims for cleaner air, coal fired power plants have been required to clean up their act. This modern coal power plant sports an 80% reduction in air pollution emissions while providing twice the power as compared to the basic Maxis Coal Power Plant. The only downside is a significant increase in solid waste production. Due to the addition of emissions control equipment and increased capacity the capital cost for the plant is substantially higher. The stats are as follows for the plant: Menu: Power Lot Type: Ploppable Lot Size: 7x8 Civic Jobs: Jobs $: 40; Jobs $$: 60; Jobs $$$: 3 Plop Cost: $22,000 Bulldoze Cost: $560 Budget Cost: $560 per Month Power Prod: 12,000 MW Max Fire Stage: 4 Air Pollution: 40 over 16 tiles Water pollution: 40 over 10 tiles Garbage: 100 over 0 tiles This lot has no dependencies and uses all props and textures provide with the Maxis Lot Editor. Constructive criticism and feed back are appreciated. -

1 pointFor those interested: Build Cost: 250,000 / Monthly Cost: 2,000 / Power Produced: 100,000 MWh Nominal Life: 50.83 years (before accounting for usage) Average Life: 132.83 years (at 75% capacity with normal funding) Minimum Life: 51.25 years (at 110% capacity with 99% funding) Maximum Life: 1,254.58 years (at 24% capacity with 120% funding) Water Consumed: 50 m³ / Air-Water-Garbage-Radiation Pollution: None Age to output level & maintenance cost multiplier response curve: Same as Maxis Nuclear Plant R$ Jobs: 562 / R$$ Jobs: 562 / R$$$ Jobs: 168 (1,292 jobs) Lot Size: 28x22 (616 lots or about 39 acres; 30.8 times the size of the Maxis Nuclear Plant While it's not a function of the game, 100 GWh/month would make this a 144 MW reactor. (100,000 MWh usable / 730 hours per month ≈ 137 MW produced / 0.95 Capacity factor ≈ 144.2 MW rated power) That's actually pretty small. (but then a reactor that fits on only 39 acres is small too... SC4 always had issues with scale)

I have added a bridge to the shore, improved the lighting slightly and added navigation lights. I am still working on this lot and hope to come up with more improvements. The zip now contains both the original and the new version. A recreational marina for your waterfront developments. This marina acts as a large park. I have not modded it but if you have any requests for a simple modd let me know and I will try to implement it. The lot is 4x3 tiles. To place it, you will need to level an area of seabed that is not too deep. If the seabed is not level the lot can still be placed, but the graphics will not look quite right. I don't know why, but the whales in my game find it very interesting and come in to check it out. -

The three most recent Commuter Train models for Sydney Rail. This is a major revision. Now sporting the correct dimensions and new more metallic looking skins. Also added night lighting (a guess actually as I've not seen them at night - must do some trainspotting...). Your feeedback does help to improve the art. Now they can only be used one at a time. They were never designed to be mixed and they aren't in real-life either, Files end up in Plugins ....0000.dat files replace the game train, and only ONE of these will work at a time Full instructions are included in the Readme Installation.txt File. This Pack completely replaces the previous pack earlier released. rivit Feb2009 -
