Serving as Indonesia's economic, cultural, and political center, the rapidly growing city of Jakarta is home to over 30 million people in its massive urban area. A historical mix of cultures over the years has given the city a distinctive mix of architecture - and this can be seen quite well in the city's old town. We'll begin with a scene from the city's Kota Tua district, set in the 1950s - where historical Dutch architecture serves as a reminder of the city's colonial past.

Before we move into the rest of the city, we'll take a look at a few scenes from the city's outskirts. Rural settlements and terraces like these can be seen throughout the city's hillsides.

We now move into central Jakarta and our first stop is the iconic Selamat Datang Monument - completed in 1962 by sculptor Edhi Sunarso, its become one of the country's most historic landmarks.

Jakarta's iconic National Monument - or Monas - is another one of the city's signature sights and is quite striking at nighttime.

The Equity Tower is an office skyscraper in the Sudirman Central Business District in South Jakarta. The building has 220 meters of height, 44 floor above & 4 floor below the ground. It was completed in 2010. The tower is designed on the glass facade and an interior that emphasizes on marble slabs.

The massive Pasar Tanah Abang is another one of the city's landmarks, and is considered to be Southeast Asia's largest textile market.

It's a common sight in Jakarta to see slums right next door to modern glassy highrises like the Talavera Office Park - a reminder of the city's income inequality.

Jakarta is one of the world's fastest growing cities - and its impressive skyline will continue to grow rapidly well into the future.

Having followed this CJ for quite a while, I still like your rural shots and setups the most because they seemingly defy the grid mechanics in the game. That doesn't mean your cityscapes are boring, though; they have their moments. :thumb:

Thanks for the comment @Androgeos!

Glad you liked the rural scenes - although I've been doing a lot of urban updates recently, I'm slowing getting back into heavy MMP and rural scenes so I'll be trying to work them into my updates whenever I can *:thumb:

This is a fabulous depiction of Jakarta, a city I have toyed around with a bit in SC4. Did you ever see derwilly's Jakarta recreation from about 12 years ago over at SC4D? He was well ahead of his time.

Have this been done with SimCity 4?

There´s got to be a lot of user made content downloaded for the game cause it looks totally different to my vanilla SC 4 right now. Very nice city views, really cool.

Pics ranges from looking  nothing like SC 4 to at least recognizable.

I wanted to do a replica of London but eventually the task seemed totally unrealistic to do and near impossible to get it at least close to anything i would be satisfied with.

Talk about biting over more then one can chew, my middle name i think sometimes.

I´d rather climb Mount Everest or something.

You pulled something off at least! Congratulations
to your virtual Jakarta city, beautiful.

@Dead_End Thanks for the nice words! *:)

@Bastet69008 Glad you liked the mosaic! *:thumb: Appreciate the comment.

@elavery Thank you very much, appreciate the comment! I've viewed some of his amazing work over the years, it might have inspired me to work on this update *:)

@mike_oxlong Thanks for the comment - glad you enjoyed the update!

@Toby66 Thank you very much for the comment! It's SC4 and about 10GB of mods and plugins *:D Some of the scenes like the rural ones were almost entirely custom lotted though with the Lot Editor, and then extensively MMPed - so they don't look a whole lot like conventional SC4.

@buzzoff67 Thanks for the kind words, glad you enjoyed it!

Suburb work once again. The1st image in particular catches the eye, very much an exquisitely articulated timepiece.

Thank you very much @AndisArt! *:thumb:

For some of those crazy gridbusting scenes like the second one, I'm using almost all MMPs and custom lotted buildings to make it possible *:)
