I wish everyone a Merry Christmas. I thought I would show what I do for my Patreon site.

The newest is a 5x5 blast furnace.

With overhanging transparencies.

If SOMY can do it, I know you can. http://somy.gozaru.jp/

Mt. Rushmore

There's also a massive dam set floating around(I think on one of the Euro sites) that sets on a 1x1 tile.

Kudos on what you've done so far. :thumb:

Sure I could always use advice. MattB had a neat method using faint omni lighting I was trying out, only problem is this particular model is constantly crashing Gmax so it's tough to stay invested in this one. It also seems to me night lighting is just not what this program was tailored for at all...

It's simple, you make a bigger cliff!

While I don't have any clue about making graphics: Do you refer to the textures or the fact that this rock still has a gap between it and the cliff? Latter problem probably can't be solved because the rock itself is vertical and there are no vertical cliffs in SC4: No matter how high a cliff in SC4 will be, its surface has to adapt to the cells, with the lower end touching one end and the upper end touching the opposite end.

My suggestions (although these only come from my tinkering with geometry, not from any knowledge whatsoever of making graphics):

  • Tilt the rock a bit, by 10-20°.
  • Rotate it so the front side actually becomes the upper side. Add a bit additional rock at the "bottom" and make it overhanging. Then turn it into a prop, set the Orient to Slope property to true, and place it on a lot with very high slope tolerance. This way, it can be plopped directly on a cliff. The bottom parts, if they are overhanging, will be hidden under the surface. (Cliffside retaining walls usually work like this.)
  • Make the rock overhanging and "deeper", so its rear end touches the cliff.

Good work, BTW.
