Suggesting ideas, typically on older industry buildings being renovated we would find that the roof items such as chimneys, roof access etc. were built during the masonry stage of the build and they would be made with the same masonry materials of the rest of the building, so brick in this case.  On new construction typically we see either a match to the type of siding material below or basically covered in roofing material.

@philforhockey51 Yeah, that's what I was thinking too. I'll probably add a square-ish brick structure.

an update from the 16th, current events perhaps taking up too much of my time.

That wonderful new Residential Ploppable cheat ready tidies up the place, repetition in the right places.

I'm still not quite sure where that steam is coming from, I should look into that...

Absolutely phenomenal work!!!! Will you be making these buildings public? Or do you have a Patreon that your loyal fans can contribute to?

@Krisman @Samu64d Great job!

@SneakyDeaky Thanks! It is based on this palace *:thumb:

@Brian J. B.I don't have a Patreon yet, I doubt people will subscribe *:D. I was planning to open one to upload civilian ships and my terrain mods, but I haven't decided yet.

The model is a custom request so it's a private BAT for now. If I release it, I'd have to export gardens and a fountain to make the lot but I don't have those models right now so it would be a lot of work for me. ^_^

I do think we need more “funeral home” type buildings for sure so this is great

After a few texture tweaks and massaging the lighting this first one should be ready for lotting. The second pic is of a model I made a long time ago that I never uploaded. I'm remaking it for use in a railyard in one of my cities.

I would suggest varying the texture slightly on one of the sliding barn doors.
Right now it's obviously the same texture for both, and the wear and tear and rust in the same placement for both doors just seems odd.
It's a small detail, but even the slightest tiny thing can make the verisimilitude...

GOOD TEXTURES ARE MADE, NOT FOUND.
(I get tired of saying that in BAT threads.)

"Never keep up with the Joneses. Drag them down to your level." - Quentin Crisp
"I believe in talking behind peoples' backs. That way, they hear it more than once." - Fran Lebowitz
"Ordinary morality is for ordinary people." - Aleister Crowley
"No one ever said on their deathbed, 'Gee, I wish I had spent more time alone with my computer.' " - Dani Bunten Berry

This is so lovely! Looking forward to this. I hate to be "that guy" but would there be any way to include a version without parking for older cities?

Guess what I found out yesterday? Turns out I had referenced the wrong texture in two models from the Townhouse Pack 1. Meaning, the downloaders must have seen a very odd texture on the side walls (shop windows, I reckon, instead of bricks?) All because the file was pointing to the FSH 04481c65 rather than 04481c66. Please don't ask me how that happened - seriously, guys, soo many things to check! Sorry about that!

Anyway, it's all fixed now and you can re-download the pack here:

The parking area is the bit I'm still not sure of. I tried to recreate the feeling of the Borgund Stave Church, which has a paved parking area at some distance. As a sort of compromise I used gravel instead of pavement, but the corner does stand out a bit I think. Without the parking, you'd end up with a lot closer to the (rather bland) vanilla cemetery. I do think it needs something in the corner to break up repetition, but I don't know what *:???:

I finally decided to build my walled city. I'll try my best to represent a small historic town with narrow streets. I'm moving forward without any precise direction, with the only constraint being to limit the use of Parisian buildings. We'll see how it turns out....

Looks good! Reminds me of Saint-Malo.

Thank you! This is exactly the city I'm trying, as best I can, to recreate.

So, here's a pic of the first in-game test. I'm not quite happy with the lights, especially the one on the roof building. Other than that it seems okay.

I thought the roof building light looked great as an open door but then realized you might not have been going for that…

BTW the updated roof building was the perfect choice.  The roof work really finished the whole structure  :)
